Amber never expected the argument with Anthony to become this serious. One moment they were standing across the room from each other, and the next, everything had spiraled completely out of control.

Her phone slipped from her hand and hit the floor. Amber stumbled backward, trying to steady herself against the wall. Her breathing became difficult as she struggled to understand what had just happened.

“Shayla…” Amber whispered before her strength began to disappear.

That single name would soon become the key to a secret Anthony had desperately tried to keep hidden.

Earlier that evening, Amber had received a strange message from a number she didn’t recognize. There was no name attached to it and no explanation.

“Ask Anthony where he was that night.”

Amber stared at the screen for several seconds. Her hands moved quickly as she typed, “Who are you?”

The message was seen, but no reply came. Instead, Amber was left with an uncomfortable feeling that someone knew much more about Anthony than she did.

The front door opened unexpectedly. Anthony stepped inside and immediately noticed that Amber was staring at her phone.

“What’s wrong?” he asked.

Amber didn’t answer immediately. She turned the phone toward him and told him about the anonymous message.

For a brief moment, Anthony’s expression changed. It was subtle, but Amber noticed it.

She suddenly became certain that the message had touched a subject Anthony didn’t want to discuss.

“What happened that night?” Amber demanded. “And why is someone telling me to ask you?”

Anthony became increasingly angry. Amber refused to back down and continued demanding an explanation.

The argument quickly escalated. Anthony grabbed Amber’s arm as she tried to move away.

Amber pulled herself free, but Anthony shoved her. She lost her balance and struck the edge of a table. A glass fell to the floor and shattered.

“Get away from me!” Amber cried.

With shaking hands, Amber reached for her phone. She knew there was only one person she could trust at that moment.

She called Shayla.

“Amber? What’s happening?” Shayla asked.

Amber struggled to speak. Her voice was weak as she looked toward Anthony.

“He’s here,” she finally whispered.

Shayla immediately asked who she was talking about. Amber paused before giving the answer.

“Anthony.”

Amber knew she had discovered something much bigger than the mysterious message.

She told Shayla that she finally understood why Anthony had been with her that night.

“Wait… what are you saying?” Shayla asked nervously.

Amber took a slow breath. She had barely enough strength to continue the conversation.

“The message wasn’t really about me.”

Shayla became silent.

“Then who was it about?”

Amber looked toward the doorway and whispered one final word:

“You.”

Hours later, Amber opened her eyes inside a hospital room. The lights were dim, and Shayla was sitting beside the bed.

Anthony was nowhere to be seen. But his absence didn’t make Amber feel safe. There were still too many unanswered questions.

During their conversation, Anthony had mentioned an old photograph. Shayla wanted to know exactly what he had been hiding.

Suddenly, the hospital room door opened. An unfamiliar person stepped inside without saying a word.

The stranger placed a photograph on the table and walked away.

Shayla slowly picked it up. Her expression immediately changed.

Anthony was standing beside Amber in the photograph. But that wasn’t the shocking part.

There was another person standing behind them.

Shayla knew that person. She had never expected to see them in a photograph with Anthony and Amber.

“That’s impossible,” Shayla whispered.

Amber looked at the photograph and quietly replied, “I know.”
