The doctor stared at the newborn baby, then slowly looked toward Shayla.
His expression suddenly changed.
DOCTOR
“This baby is healthy… but there’s something you need to know.”
Angelina froze beside the hospital bed.
Shayla was still unconscious after the emergency surgery.
And the question hanging in the room was one nobody expected…

It was a quiet afternoon.
Shayla was sitting inside the living room, trying to act normal. Angelina was nearby, talking to her about their plans for the week.
Suddenly, Shayla placed a hand over her stomach.
Her face became pale.
ANGELINA
“Shayla? What’s wrong?”
Shayla tried to stand, but her legs became weak.
SHAYLA
“I… I don’t feel good.”
She took a few steps.
Then suddenly collapsed onto the floor.
ANGELINA
“Shayla! Shayla, wake up!”
Shayla didn’t respond.
Angelina immediately grabbed her phone and called for help.
Minutes later, Angelina helped get Shayla into the car.
Shayla was barely conscious.
ANGELINA
“Please stay with me, Shayla. We’re almost there.”
Shayla slowly opened her eyes.
SHAYLA
“Angelina…”
ANGELINA
“I’m here.”
Shayla tried to speak, but the pain became stronger.
She closed her eyes again.
Angelina drove faster.
At the hospital, nurses immediately rushed Shayla into an examination room.
Angelina waited outside.
ANGELINA
“Doctor, what happened to her?”
DOCTOR
“We ran some tests.”
ANGELINA
“Is she okay?”
DOCTOR
“She’s pregnant.”
Angelina’s eyes widened.
ANGELINA
“Pregnant?”
DOCTOR
“Yes. And according to the examination, she is approximately six months pregnant.”
Angelina stood completely still.
DOCTOR
“Unfortunately, the pregnancy has developed complications, and we may have to perform an emergency operation.”
ANGELINA
“Will Shayla survive?”
DOCTOR
“We are going to do everything we can.”
Inside the room, Shayla slowly opened her eyes.
SHAYLA
“Where am I?”
DOCTOR
“You’re in the hospital.”
Shayla looked confused.
ANGELINA
“Shayla… the doctor says you’re pregnant.”
Shayla’s face immediately changed.
ANGELINA
“Six months pregnant.”
ANGELINA
“Shayla, why didn’t you tell me?”
SHAYLA
“I was scared.”
ANGELINA
“Scared of what?”
Shayla couldn’t answer.
DOCTOR
“We don’t have much time. The baby’s condition is becoming dangerous.”
SHAYLA
“My baby?”
DOCTOR
“We need to operate.”
The nurses quickly prepared Shayla for surgery.
The hallway became tense.
Angelina stood outside the operating room.
Minutes felt like hours.
Then the doors closed.
Inside, doctors worked quickly.
DOCTOR
“Stay calm, Shayla. We’re here with you.”
Shayla closed her eyes.
A few moments later, the sound of a newborn baby filled the operating room.
NURSE
“It’s a boy.”
DOCTOR
“He’s breathing.”
Outside, Angelina suddenly heard the baby crying.
ANGELINA
“That’s Shayla’s baby…”
But one question still remained…

Hours later, Shayla finally woke up.
SHAYLA
“My baby?”
ANGELINA
“He’s alive.”
Shayla closed her eyes in relief.
SHAYLA
“Thank God.”
ANGELINA
“Shayla, I need you to tell me the truth.”
ANGELINA
“Who is the father?”
Shayla immediately looked away.
ANGELINA
“You can’t keep this secret anymore.”
SHAYLA
“I never wanted this to happen.”
ANGELINA
“What happened?”
SHAYLA
“I can’t tell you.”
ANGELINA
“Why?”
SHAYLA
“Because if I tell you who the father is… everything will change.”
Later that evening, Angelina entered the nursery.
She looked through the glass.
The newborn baby boy was sleeping peacefully.
Angelina smiled.
But then she noticed something.
The baby had a small mark near his left ear.
Angelina suddenly remembered seeing that exact mark on someone before.
ANGELINA
“No…”
She immediately pulled out her phone.
She opened an old photograph.
Her eyes widened.
ANGELINA
“I saw the baby.”
SHAYLA
“Is he okay?”
ANGELINA
“He’s fine.”
ANGELINA
“But I think I know who his father is.”
Shayla’s face went pale.
SHAYLA
“Angelina…”
ANGELINA
“Tell me I’m wrong.”
Shayla began crying.
SHAYLA
“I was going to tell him.”
ANGELINA
“Tell WHO?”
Suddenly, someone knocked on the hospital room door.
Both women turned.
The door slowly opened.
A man stepped inside.
MAN
“I heard she had a baby.”
ANGELINA
“How did you know?”
MAN
“Because she called me six months ago.”
Angelina’s eyes widened.
MAN
“She told me… the baby was mine.”
Angelina turned toward Shayla.
ANGELINA
“Shayla…”
SHAYLA
“I didn’t want anyone to know.”
The man looked at the baby.
Then he looked back at Shayla.
MAN
“But there’s one problem…”
The entire room became silent.
MAN
“I wasn’t the only man she was with that night.”
Angelina slowly turned toward Shayla.
Shayla’s tears continued falling.
THE BABY’S FATHER WAS NO LONGER A SIMPLE QUESTION.
THERE WERE NOW TWO POSSIBLE FATHERS.
AND ONE OF THEM WAS STANDING INSIDE THE HOSPITAL ROOM.
BUT THE OTHER MAN’S IDENTITY…
SHAYLA HAD NEVER REVEALED.
