nou ) She heard three knocks at the door… and suddenly understood her mother’s final warning.

The room is dark. A phone lies silently on the bedside table.
Shara’s eyes are swollen from crying. She sits on the edge of her bed, staring at the name glowing on her phone screen.
“MOM.”
She presses the phone against her chest.
Two days ago, her mother had asked about her.
Two days ago, everything had seemed normal.
Neither of them knew it would be their final conversation.
Shara’s mother had been imprisoned in an Atlanta jail for some time. The distance between them was painful, but it had never weakened their bond.
For Shara, her mother was not just family. She was the person she called when she was afraid, confused, happy, or simply lonely.
And now that voice existed only inside her memories.
FLASHBACK — INT. SHARA’S BEDROOM — EVENING
Shara sits beside the window, holding her phone against her ear.
MOTHER:
“How are you, sweetheart?”
SHARA:
“I’m okay, Mom.”
Her mother immediately notices something in her voice.
MOTHER:
“You sound tired.”
SHARA:
“I’m just a little stressed. Nothing serious.”
MOTHER:
“You always say that.”
Shara smiles.
For a few seconds, neither woman speaks. It is the kind of silence only people who deeply love each other can share.
SHARA:
“Are you okay?”
MOTHER:
“I’m fine.”
Shara closes her eyes.
SHARA:
“Are you sure?”
MOTHER:
“I’m sure. Don’t worry about me. You take care of yourself.”
Shara’s voice becomes softer.
SHARA:
“I miss you.”
MOTHER:
“I miss you too.”
Neither wants to hang up.
MOTHER:
“I’ll talk to you soon.”
SHARA:
“Promise?”
MOTHER:
“Promise.”
The call ends.
Shara smiles at the screen.
That was her mother’s final promise.
Her final conversation.
Her final “I miss you.”
INT. ATLANTA JAIL — NIGHT
A long corridor stretches beneath cold fluorescent lights.
Metal doors line the walls. Footsteps echo through the building.
Inside her cell, Shara’s mother lies down to rest.
Hours pass.
Then suddenly—
A DISTURBANCE.
Footsteps rush down the corridor.
A guard calls for help.
CUT TO BLACK.
Silence.
INT. SHARA’S HOUSE — MORNING
A telephone rings.
Shara is asleep.
The phone rings again.
She finally wakes and answers.
SHARA:
“Hello?”
JAIL OFFICER:
“Is this Shara?”
Shara sits up.
SHARA:
“Yes.”
JAIL OFFICER:
“I’m calling from the Atlanta correctional facility.”
Shara’s expression changes immediately.
SHARA:
“Is my mother okay?”
A long silence.
JAIL OFFICER:
“There was a medical emergency.”
SHARA:
“What happened?”
JAIL OFFICER:
“Your mother suffered a severe heart attack.”
Shara stands.
SHARA:
“Is she in the hospital?”
Another silence.
JAIL OFFICER:
“I’m very sorry.”
The phone almost slips from Shara’s hand.
SHARA:
“No…”
Her voice breaks.
SHARA:
“I spoke to her two days ago.”
SHARA:
“She was fine.”
But there is no answer that can make the dead alive again.
EXT. SHARA’S HOUSE — AFTERNOON
A black vehicle stops outside the house.
Funeral home staff members step out.
Two pallbearers carefully remove a coffin.
Shara watches from inside.
She doesn’t move.
The coffin approaches the front door.
Her breathing becomes shallow.
She finally opens the door.
The coffin is directly in front of her.
SHARA:
“Mom…”
Her knees almost give way.
She reaches out and touches the coffin.
SHARA:
“You can’t be here.”
Tears roll down her face.
SHARA:
“Two days ago, I heard your voice.”
SHARA:
“You asked me if I was okay.”
SHARA:
“And I asked you if you were okay.”
She presses her forehead against the coffin.
SHARA:
“You said you were fine.”
The silence was real.
The tears were real.
But Shara’s heart still refused to believe it.
INT. SHARA’S BEDROOM — NIGHT
The house is quiet.
Shara sits alone beside her mother’s photograph.
She opens the call history.
There it is.
The final call.
Suddenly, she remembers something.
During their conversation, her phone had accidentally activated the voice-recording function.
Shara searches through her files.
One recording appears.
DATED TWO DAYS EARLIER.
Her finger trembles as she presses PLAY.
MOTHER’S VOICE:
“How are you, sweetheart?”
Shara closes her eyes.
The conversation continues exactly as she remembers.
Then—
A strange metallic sound.
Shara opens her eyes.
She rewinds.
Plays it again.
There it is.
A door.
Footsteps.
Then a man’s voice.
UNKNOWN VOICE:
“You need to come with me.”
Shara freezes.
She listens again.
The recording told a different story.
Someone had been near her mother.
Someone whose voice Shara didn’t recognize.
Shara immediately calls the Atlanta jail.
JAIL OFFICER:
“Atlanta correctional facility.”
SHARA:
“I need to ask you something about my mother.”
JAIL OFFICER:
“I’m sorry for your loss.”
SHARA:
“Who was inside her cell before she died?”
Silence.
JAIL OFFICER:
“What?”
SHARA:
“I have a recording. I heard someone talking to her.”
JAIL OFFICER:
“Ma’am, you may have misunderstood—”
SHARA:
“Who was the man?”
The officer becomes quiet.
SHARA:
“Who was in her cell?”
JAIL OFFICER:
“Your mother was alone.”
Shara’s face turns pale.
SHARA:
“That’s impossible.”
JAIL OFFICER:
“There was no one else in that cell.”
SHARA:
“Then whose voice did I hear?”
The call disconnects.
Shara slowly lowers the phone.
Shara looks toward her mother’s photograph.
Her phone suddenly vibrates.
UNKNOWN NUMBER.
One message appears.
“YOUR MOTHER WASN’T ALONE.”
Shara’s heart begins to pound.
Another message arrives.
This time there is an attachment.
A photograph.
Shara opens it.
The image shows her mother inside the jail.
It appears to have been taken only hours before her death.
Her mother is sitting on the edge of her bed.
But behind her—
A man is standing in the darkness.
Almost completely hidden.
Shara zooms in.
The man is holding a phone.
And on that phone is a photograph of Shara.
Shara’s hands begin to shake.
Then another message appears.
“NOW YOU’RE NEXT.”
Shara looks toward her bedroom door.
It is slightly open.
She knows she closed it.
The hallway outside is completely dark.
A floorboard creaks.
Shara slowly stands.
Her phone slips from her hand.
The screen remains glowing on the floor.
Then—
A shadow appears beneath the bedroom door.
Someone is standing outside.
The shadow doesn’t move.
Then comes a sound.
KNOCK.
KNOCK.
Shara stops breathing.
Her mother’s final words echo inside her mind.
“Don’t believe…”
The bedroom door handle slowly begins to turn.
Shara backs away.
Her eyes fill with terror.
The handle turns further.
And then—
CUT TO BLACK.
