THE POLICE STATION
Rain tapped against the windows as Sharra walked through the doors of the Atlanta police station.
SHARRA
“I need information about my mother.”
OFFICER
“What’s her name?”
Sharra gave him the information. The officer searched the computer.
SHARRA
“Who gave you her location?”
OFFICER
“I’m sorry, ma’am. I can’t discuss that.”
Sharra knew he was hiding something.
THE BRIBE
Sharra slowly opened her purse and placed cash on the counter.
OFFICER
“What are you doing?”
SHARRA
“I’m asking you to help me.”
The officer looked at the money, then toward the hallway.
OFFICER
“You didn’t get this information from me.”
SHARRA
“You have my word.”
The officer finally whispered the name.
THE NAME
OFFICER
“Larry.”
Sharra froze.
SHARRA
“Larry?”
OFFICER
“Your husband.”
Sharra stared at him in disbelief. The man she trusted had given the police her mother’s location.
But that wasn’t the worst part.
THE FINAL WARNING
Sharra’s phone suddenly vibrated.
An unknown number had sent her one final message.
“If you want your mother alive, find out what Larry did before the police find you first.”
Sharra looked behind her.
A black SUV was waiting across the street.
And suddenly, Sharra realized that her mother’s arrest was only the beginning.
