THE SUDDEN KNOCK

The quiet evening inside the house was suddenly interrupted by a violent pounding against the front door.

Bethany froze on the couch, instinctively placing one hand over the area that was still recovering from her recent surgery.

Shara refused to listen. Her anger grew with every second as she slammed her foot against the locked entrance.

The wooden frame began to crack, while Bethany desperately backed away from the doorway.

Then Shara delivered one final kick with all her strength.

The damaged frame finally broke, and the heavy door crashed inward toward Bethany.

Later that night, Larry walked through the front entrance and immediately noticed that something was terribly wrong.

The broken frame and scattered pieces of wood covered the floor.

He rushed deeper into the house and found Bethany barely conscious.

LARRY — Bethany! Stay with me. Please open your eyes!

ANOTHER EMERGENCY

The ambulance arrived moments later, and Bethany was rushed back to the hospital.

Larry waited outside the operating room, terrified that the accident had caused permanent damage.

After what felt like an eternity, the doctor finally walked toward him.

DOCTOR — The impact reopened the surgical damage. We need to operate immediately.

While Larry waited anxiously, his phone suddenly rang from an unfamiliar number.

When he answered, he heard Shara crying on the other end of the line.

LARRY — Shara, where are you? What happened?

Before Larry could hear an answer, the call abruptly disconnected.

Shara stood alone outside, staring at her phone while tears continued running down her face.

Back at the hospital, Larry sat beside Bethany while doctors continued fighting to save her.
