The night began like any other for Yaya and Wayne. After a long, exhausting day, they finally settled into bed together, hoping to get some peaceful rest. Wayne put his phone on the bedside table and turned toward her.

“We hardly get any time to relax together anymore,” Wayne said. “Tonight, no stress, no arguments, and no worrying about tomorrow.”

Yaya smiled. “That sounds perfect. I just want a quiet night with you.” Wayne gently held her hand, and soon they both drifted off to sleep, unaware that the morning would change everything.

Chapter One — Something Feels Wrong

Several hours later, Yaya suddenly woke up. She felt unusually dizzy and unsettled, with a strange discomfort in her stomach. She shifted beneath the blanket, hoping it would pass, but the feeling remained. Slowly, she sat up and touched her forehead.

“Wayne,” she whispered. When he did not answer, she gently shook his shoulder. “Wayne, wake up. I don’t feel right.”

Wayne opened his eyes at once when he heard the worry in her voice. “What’s wrong? Are you feeling sick?”

“I don’t know. I feel dizzy, and my stomach feels strange. I’m scared.”

Wayne sat up and reached for a glass of water. He stayed beside her while she took a few sips, but her discomfort did not fade. His expression grew serious.

“We’re not going to guess what this is,” he told her gently. “I’m taking you to the hospital. The doctors can check you properly.”

Chapter Two — The Hospital Visit

Wayne helped Yaya get ready, then drove her to the nearest hospital. During the journey, he kept glancing at her, trying to remain calm even as his thoughts raced. Yaya stared out of the window, quietly wondering why her body suddenly felt so different.

“Please don’t worry too much,” Wayne said, reaching for her hand when they stopped outside the emergency entrance. “I’m right here. We’ll find out what’s happening.”

At the hospital, a nurse welcomed them and arranged for Yaya to be examined. The medical team asked questions about her symptoms and medical history, then performed the necessary checks. Wayne waited beside her, holding her hand and searching her face for reassurance.

After what felt like an endless wait, a doctor returned with the results. The doctor’s calm expression made Wayne sit straighter.

“Doctor, please tell us,” Wayne said. “Is she going to be alright?”

Chapter Three — The Unexpected News

The doctor looked at Yaya, then at Wayne. “Yaya is stable. And there is something important you both need to know. The tests indicate that Yaya is pregnant.”

For a moment, the room went completely silent. Wayne stared at the doctor as if he had misheard. Yaya’s eyes widened, and she slowly turned toward him.

“The test is positive,” the doctor explained. “We’ll arrange follow-up care and any further checks needed to confirm how far along the pregnancy is and make sure Yaya receives the right care.”

Wayne looked at Yaya, completely shocked. “Yaya… we’re going to have a baby?”

Yaya was overwhelmed. She had come to the hospital frightened by an unfamiliar feeling, never imagining she would hear news like this. “I don’t know what to say,” she whispered. “Everything was normal last night. How can this be real?”

Wayne took a deep breath, still trying to process the announcement. His shock slowly softened into concern and wonder. He moved closer and held her hand with both of his.

“I’m shocked too,” he admitted. “I never expected us to hear this today. But first, I want to make sure you’re okay. We’ll listen to the doctor and take this one step at a time.”

Chapter Four — A New Beginning

Yaya looked down at her hands, then back at Wayne. Her eyes glistened as the news began to sink in. “Are you angry? Are you upset?” she asked nervously.

“No,” Wayne answered immediately. “I’m surprised, and I have a thousand questions running through my mind. But I’m not angry with you. We’ll face this together.”

Yaya let out a shaky breath. Wayne brushed a loose strand of hair away from her face, still wearing an expression of disbelief.

“Last night, we were simply trying to get some sleep,” he said with a faint, astonished smile. “And today, our whole future feels different.”

“I’m scared of what comes next,” Yaya confessed.

“That’s understandable,” Wayne replied. “We don’t need to have every answer right now. We’ll ask questions, follow the doctor’s advice, and take things day by day.”

The doctor returned to explain the next steps, including arranging prenatal care and answering their questions. Wayne listened carefully, determined not to let his surprise stop him from supporting Yaya.

As they sat together in the hospital room, the fear and confusion did not disappear completely. There was still so much they needed to understand. Yet beneath the shock, a new feeling began to emerge: the realization that their lives might be entering an entirely different chapter.
