Shayla’s Revenge

SHAYLA’S REVENGE

THE NIGHT WAYNE LOST EVERYTHING
One broken relationship. One act of revenge. And a secret that could change everything.

SCENE 1 — WAYNE’S DRIVEWAY — NIGHT

The night Wayne proudly brings home his brand-new truck, he has no idea that someone is watching him from the shadows.

Someone who knows his secrets. Someone who remembers every lie he told. Someone who is about to make him pay for destroying her relationship with Iman.

Shayla stands across the street, her eyes fixed on the expensive truck. Her face is calm, but beneath that silence is a storm of anger, betrayal, and heartbreak.

WAYNE (Looking proudly at his truck) Now this is what I call an upgrade. Nobody can tell me I haven’t worked hard for this.
SHAYLA (Whispering bitterly) You can buy yourself a new truck, Wayne. You can pretend your life is perfect. But you can’t erase what you did to me.

She remembers the promises Wayne made, the lies he told, and the day her relationship with Iman fell apart because Wayne interfered.

Tonight, Shayla has decided that Wayne will finally understand what it feels like to lose something he loves.

SCENE 2 — SHAYLA’S HOUSE — EARLIER THAT EVENING

Shayla sits on the edge of her bed, staring at an old photograph of herself and Iman. They look like two people who believe nothing could ever separate them.

SHAYLA (Voice trembling) We were happy, Iman. We trusted each other. We had plans for our future.

She remembers the arguments, Iman’s doubts, and the misunderstandings that slowly destroyed their relationship.

Her phone lights up. Instead of a message from Iman, she sees Wayne standing beside his new truck.

POST: “New ride. New chapter. Nothing can stop me now.”

SHAYLA (Angrily) Nothing can stop you? You really think you can destroy someone else’s happiness and then celebrate like you’re some kind of winner?
SHAYLA You took something precious from me, Wayne. And now you’re standing there celebrating your own happiness.

Let’s see how you feel when something you love is suddenly gone.

SCENE 3 — THE STREET OUTSIDE WAYNE’S HOUSE — NIGHT

Wayne shows off his new truck to a friend while Shayla watches from across the street.

WAYNE (Grinning confidently) I told you I was going to get something better. Look at this thing. It’s worth every penny.
FRIEND You must be feeling pretty good right now.
WAYNE Absolutely. I’ve got my new truck, my money is looking good, and I’m done dealing with unnecessary drama.

Shayla hears those words. Unnecessary drama. That’s what Wayne calls the destruction he left behind.

SHAYLA (Under her breath) You call it drama because you weren’t the one who lost everything.

Wayne heads inside. Shayla hesitates, remembering the person she used to be before anger consumed her. For a moment, she considers walking away.

Then she remembers Iman’s final words during their breakup.

SHAYLA You never cared what happened to me.

She turns toward Wayne’s driveway. The decision has been made.

SCENE 4 — WAYNE’S DRIVEWAY — MOMENTS LATER

The neighborhood is silent. Wayne’s new truck sits beneath the driveway light, its metallic paint reflecting the glow.

Shayla approaches, looking around nervously. Her heart pounds. She knows that crossing this line could change everything, but she is too consumed by resentment to think clearly.

She sets her revenge in motion, deliberately starting a fire that quickly spreads across the truck.

Within moments, the flames become impossible to ignore. Orange light dances across the windows of nearby houses.

Shayla takes a step backward, staring at the growing fire. For a second, she looks frightened by what she has done.

SHAYLA (Whispering) This is what you get for ruining my life.

Shayla hurries away from the driveway, leaving the burning truck behind.

She does not see the curtain move in an upstairs window. Someone inside Wayne’s house has noticed the unusual glow outside.

Her revenge has begun. But the consequences are only seconds away.

SCENE 5 — WAYNE’S HOUSE — CONTINUOUS

Wayne sits on his couch when he notices an orange reflection moving across the living room wall.

NEIGHBOR (Shouting in alarm) Wayne! Wayne, get outside! Your truck is on fire!
WAYNE What?

He rushes outside and sees the flames engulfing his brand-new truck.

WAYNE (Shouting) NO! NO, NO, NO!

He runs toward the driveway, but the heat forces him to stop at a safe distance. Neighbors emerge from their houses. Someone calls emergency services.

WAYNE (Voice breaking) My truck! What the hell happened to my truck? I just got this! I haven’t even had it for a full day!

As the sirens approach, Wayne realizes the fire may not have been an accident.

WAYNE (Through clenched teeth) Who would do something like this to me?

Then Shayla’s furious face flashes through his mind.

WAYNE (Quietly) Shayla…

SCENE 6 — THE STREET — LATER THAT NIGHT

Emergency responders extinguish the fire. Wayne’s truck is badly damaged, and a police officer approaches him.

OFFICER Did you see anyone near the vehicle before the fire started?
WAYNE No. I was inside my house. I came out when my neighbor called me.
OFFICER Do you have any reason to believe someone might have targeted you?
WAYNE I don’t know. Maybe someone is jealous. Maybe somebody has a problem with me.

The officer promises to investigate. Wayne stares at the wreckage, realizing that his celebration has turned into a nightmare.

WAYNE (To himself) If Shayla did this, she’s going to pay for it.

Beneath his anger is fear. If Shayla is responsible, this is no longer just about a truck. It is about a breakup, a betrayal, and a conflict Wayne thought he had already won.

But Wayne is hiding a secret of his own.

SCENE 7 — SHAYLA’S HOUSE — LATE NIGHT

Shayla sits alone in her living room. A photograph of Wayne’s damaged truck appears on her phone.

She had imagined feeling satisfied, but now the silence in her house feels heavier than before.

SHAYLA (Quietly) You should have thought about the consequences before you interfered in my life.

She imagines Iman beside her again, but the fantasy fades. Burning Wayne’s truck will not bring Iman back or restore the happiness she lost.

SHAYLA (Whispering) Why does it still hurt so much?

Her phone rings. The caller ID reads UNKNOWN NUMBER.

IMAN Shayla?
SHAYLA (Immediately emotional) Iman? Why are you calling me?
IMAN I heard about Wayne’s truck. Everyone is talking about it. Tell me something. Did you have anything to do with what happened tonight?
SHAYLA Why would you ask me that?
IMAN Because I know how much you hate Wayne. And I know what happened between us still hurts you.
SHAYLA You don’t know what I’ve been through.
IMAN Maybe I don’t. But I know that hurting Wayne won’t fix what happened to us.

His words cut deeper than she expects.

IMAN Because there’s something you don’t know about our breakup.
SHAYLA What are you talking about?
IMAN Wayne wasn’t the only person who kept secrets from you.

Before Iman can explain, another familiar voice comes through the phone.

WAYNE (Coldly) Now that you’ve finally picked up the phone, Shayla, we need to talk.
SHAYLA Wayne? How did you get on this call?
WAYNE You think you got revenge tonight. You think burning my truck means we’re even. But I know something about you and Iman. Something that could change everything you believe about our past.
SHAYLA What did you do, Wayne?
WAYNE I didn’t tell Iman the whole truth. And if you want to know why your relationship really ended, you need to meet me tomorrow.

The call disconnects. Shayla stands motionless, wondering whether her breakup was built on a secret she never imagined.

SCENE 8 — WAYNE’S HOUSE — THE NEXT MORNING

Wayne stands beside the remains of his truck. He opens an old message conversation between himself and Iman.

WAYNE (Quietly) If Shayla finds out what really happened, none of us will ever be the same.

Someone knocks at his front door. Wayne opens it and finds Shayla standing outside, exhausted but determined.

SHAYLA You said you had something to tell me.
WAYNE I did.
SHAYLA Then tell me the truth about Iman.
WAYNE Are you sure you’re ready to hear it?
SHAYLA After everything that’s happened, I deserve the truth.

Wayne opens a message thread and turns his phone toward her. The moment Shayla reads the first line, all the color drains from her face.

SHAYLA (Whispering in disbelief) No… this can’t be real.
WAYNE Now you understand why I never wanted you to see that message.
SHAYLA Did Iman know about this?

Wayne doesn’t answer. A black car pulls up outside. The driver’s door opens, and someone steps out.

For the first time since the fire, Wayne looks genuinely frightened.

SHAYLA (Turning toward the car) Who is that?
WAYNE Shayla, listen to me. Whatever happens next, don’t trust the person who just arrived.

The footsteps grow louder. The newcomer reaches the porch. Shayla turns and sees the person’s face.

The fire was only the beginning of a much bigger story.
