The Price of Betrayal
A Story of Love, Jealousy, and a Secret That Could Destroy Everything
SCENE 1 — THE PROPOSAL THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING
INT. CHARLOTTO’S LIVING ROOM — LATE AFTERNOON
The room glows with golden sunlight. Charlotto sips her coffee as Bethany suddenly takes her hand, her eyes full of desperation.
Charlotto, you know Matt is a much better man than Larry. Why don’t you think about marrying him? At least then, you would have a chance at a better life.
Are you serious right now? You want me to marry Matt? Have you forgotten how complicated his life is?
Charlotto leans back, but Bethany refuses to give up. Beneath her sadness lies a plan she has not yet revealed.
SCENE 2 — BETHANY’S DESPERATE CONFESSION
INT. CHARLOTTO’S LIVING ROOM — CONTINUOUS
If Matt married me, my entire life would change. I could finally have stability and stop worrying about tomorrow.
And what about love? Have you even thought about that?
Bethany wipes away a tear. Her divorce has left her feeling judged by everyone, and she desperately wants a fresh start.
I am divorced. Everyone looks at me as if my life is finished. I just want someone to give me another chance.
SCENE 3 — THE INSULT THAT CROSSED THE LINE
INT. CHARLOTTO’S LIVING ROOM — MOMENTS LATER
Please try to understand me. I am only asking you to help me find happiness.
You think you can compare yourself to me? You want me to arrange your marriage to Matt as if he were a prize you could simply claim?
Bethany’s face pales. She tries to explain, but her next words only make Charlotto angrier.
I am divorced, Charlotto! I know what people say about me. I just want another chance at life!
And you think Matt would actually marry a divorced woman like you?
The room falls silent. Bethany looks at the woman she once trusted, unable to believe what she has just heard.
SCENE 4 — CHARLOTTO LOSES CONTROL
INT. CHARLOTTO’S LIVING ROOM — CONTINUOUS
I thought you were my friend.
A friend does not come into my house and ask me to hand over a man as if I owe her something.
Charlotto grabs Bethany’s arm and drags her toward the front door. Bethany stumbles against the doorframe, shocked by the sudden cruelty.
Charlotto! Let go of me! What are you doing?
Get out of my house! Don’t you ever dare show your face here again!
Charlotto kicks Bethany away from the entrance and slams the door. Outside, Bethany stands humiliated—but a new anger is beginning to grow.
SCENE 5 — THE WOMAN WHO REFUSED TO CRY FOREVER
EXT. CHARLOTTO’S HOUSE — EVENING
Bethany walks down the steps, wiping her tears. She looks back at the house where her dignity was shattered.
I may have lost my marriage, but I have not lost my dignity.
She takes out her phone and calls someone. After three rings, a voice answers. Bethany’s expression changes as she hears the response.
What do you mean he already knows?
The name Matt escapes her lips. The call ends, leaving Bethany with more questions than answers.
SCENE 6 — CHARLOTTO’S CONFIDENCE BEGINS TO CRACK
INT. CHARLOTTO’S BEDROOM — NIGHT
Charlotto stands before the mirror, convinced Bethany has finally learned her lesson. Then Matt calls.
Charlotto, did Bethany visit you today?
Yes, she came here. She wanted me to help her marry you. She actually thinks you would marry a divorced woman like her.
Matt’s voice turns cold. Charlotto’s smile disappears.
You have made a terrible mistake. There is something about Bethany that you don’t know.
Why are you defending her?
Because Bethany is not the only person who has been keeping secrets.
The call ends. Charlotto stares at her reflection, frightened for the first time that night.
SCENE 7 — A SECRET THAT COULD DESTROY THEM ALL
INT. BETHANY’S CAR — SAME NIGHT
Bethany opens a message from an unknown number: “Matt has told her nothing. Keep it that way until tomorrow.” A photograph arrives moments later.
No… this can’t be true.
Her phone rings. Charlotto’s name flashes on the screen. This time, Charlotto sounds frightened.
Bethany, I need you to tell me the truth. What is Matt hiding from me?
When you discover who Matt really is, don’t blame me for what happens next.
Across the city, Matt sits alone in his car, holding a sealed envelope bearing Bethany’s name. He opens the glove compartment and takes out another photograph.
So, Bethany knows the truth now.
He calls someone and speaks in a low voice.
It’s too late to stop her. We need to make sure she never reveals what happened that night.
He studies the photograph. The person standing beside him is someone Charlotto trusts more than anyone in the world—and that person has been lying to her for years.
