Bethany Confronts Larry About Sharra
The question that sparks a heated phone call, tests trust, and leaves a relationship searching for answers.
1. Charlotte Plants a Troubling Question
Bethany never expected a simple conversation with Charlotte to create so much tension in her relationship with Larry. What began as an ordinary discussion quickly turned into a troubling mystery when Charlotte raised a question about Larry and Sharra’s trip to Puerto Rico. Charlotte had no definite proof of anything inappropriate, but her words planted a seed of doubt in Bethany’s mind.
“Bethany, there’s something I want to ask you, but I don’t know how you’re going to react,” Charlotte said cautiously.
“What is it? You can ask me anything,” Bethany replied.
“Do you think Larry and Sharra could have slept in the same bed when they were in Puerto Rico?”
Bethany’s expression changed immediately. “What? Why would you even ask me something like that? Where is this coming from?”
Charlotte explained that she was not claiming anything had happened. She simply wondered whether the situation was possible.
“I’m not saying I know the truth,” Charlotte clarified. “But you know how complicated relationships can become when people travel together. I’m just wondering whether something happened that nobody has talked about.”
“That’s a serious accusation to bring up,” Bethany replied. “Larry has never told me anything that would make me think he was involved with Sharra.”
“Then why not ask him directly?” Charlotte suggested. “If you want to know the truth, he is the person who can explain what happened.”
Bethany tried to move on, but the question continued to bother her. She decided she would call Larry and ask him directly rather than spend another day wondering.
2. Bethany Decides to Call Larry
Later that afternoon, Bethany sat quietly with her phone in her hand. She did not want to accuse Larry unfairly, but she believed she had the right to ask about something that concerned their relationship.
“Hey, Bethany. What’s up?” Larry asked when he answered.
“Hi, Larry. I need to talk to you about something,” Bethany replied.
“Okay. What’s going on?”
“I want you to be honest with me about something that happened in Puerto Rico.”
“Puerto Rico? What about it?”
Bethany took a deep breath. “When you were there with Sharra, did you two sleep in the same bed?”
Silence followed. Larry’s relaxed expression disappeared, and his voice changed almost instantly.
“Excuse me? What kind of question is that?” Larry demanded.
“I’m asking whether you and Sharra slept in the same bed while you were in Puerto Rico,” Bethany repeated.
“Bethany, are you serious right now? Who put this idea in your head?”
“Charlotte asked me about it,” Bethany admitted. “I wanted to hear your side of the story.”
3. Larry Turns the Question Into a Confrontation
Instead of answering calmly, Larry became increasingly frustrated.
“Do you hear yourself? You’re calling me to ask whether I shared a bed with Sharra, as if you have evidence against me. How could you even believe something like that?”
“I never said I believed it,” Bethany replied. “I said someone asked me a question, and I wanted to hear your side.”
“Then you should have told Charlotte to mind her own business! Why are you bringing her suspicions into our relationship?”
“Because I want to know what happened! Is that so difficult to understand?” Bethany asked.
Larry argued that she was allowing someone else to interfere in their relationship.
“You’re letting somebody put an idea in your head, and now I’m the one who has to defend myself. How much trust do you actually have in me?”
Bethany felt hurt by his words. “Trust doesn’t mean I can never ask you a difficult question. If something bothers me, I should be able to talk to you about it without being attacked.”
“There’s a difference between having a conversation and making insulting accusations,” Larry snapped.
“I was respectful when I called you. I didn’t scream at you, and I didn’t call you names. I asked you a question. You’re the one turning this into a fight,” Bethany responded.
4. Bethany Demands an Honest Conversation
Bethany had hoped the conversation would give her peace of mind. Instead, every minute seemed to create another problem. She decided to ask one more time.
“Larry, I’m not saying you did anything with Sharra. I don’t know what happened, and that’s exactly why I’m asking you. Did you two sleep in the same bed or not?”
Larry responded angrily. “I cannot believe we’re still talking about this. You’re treating me like I’ve done something wrong when you don’t even know anything.”
“Then help me understand!” Bethany exclaimed. “You keep telling me how disrespectful my question is, but you haven’t helped me understand why you’re reacting this way.”
“Maybe I’m angry because you’re questioning my character over a rumor,” Larry replied.
“And maybe I’m upset because I called you hoping for a conversation, but all you’ve done is make me feel guilty for asking.”
Bethany tried to explain that she wanted them to discuss uncomfortable issues with patience and respect.
“If we’re going to have a relationship, we should be able to discuss our concerns without everything turning into an argument,” she said.
Larry, however, insisted that he was tired of answering questions based on rumors. “I have better things to do than defend myself against questions like this.”
“So you’re just going to dismiss me because you don’t like the question?” Bethany asked.
“I’m telling you that I’m tired of this conversation,” Larry answered. He then ended the call.
5. Charlotte Learns About the Phone Call
Bethany stared at her phone, stunned by how quickly the conversation had fallen apart. She had expected Larry to be surprised or offended, but she had not expected the call to end without a clear resolution.
A little later, Charlotte called to check on her.
“Did you speak to Larry?” Charlotte asked.
“Yes,” Bethany replied quietly.
“And what happened?”
“He got furious. He kept asking why I would believe something like that and why I was allowing you to interfere. We argued, and he ended the call.”
Charlotte sounded concerned. “I don’t want you to assume something happened just because he became angry. But I understand why you’re upset. You wanted to discuss something that was bothering you.”
Bethany agreed that his reaction did not prove anything about what had happened in Puerto Rico.
“I know his anger doesn’t prove anything,” Bethany admitted. “I’m not going to accuse him without knowing the facts. But I don’t understand why we couldn’t talk about it calmly.”
Charlotte encouraged her to take some time before making any decisions. Bethany thanked her, although she remained troubled by the situation.
6. An Unanswered Question Puts Their Relationship Under Pressure
That evening, Bethany replayed the conversation in her mind. She thought about Charlotte’s original question, Larry’s immediate anger, and the way the phone call had ended.
She did not want to jump to conclusions about Larry and Sharra. There was still no confirmation that they had shared a bed, and she understood that an upsetting question could make someone defensive. However, she also believed that communication was essential in any relationship.
Meanwhile, Larry remained frustrated by what he considered an unfair accusation. He believed Charlotte had interfered in his personal life and could not understand why Bethany had taken the question seriously enough to call him.
Neither of them seemed ready to acknowledge the other’s perspective. Bethany wanted clarity, honesty, and a conversation in which she could express her concerns without feeling ashamed. Larry wanted the rumors to stop and felt that his character had been questioned.
As the evening came to an end, Bethany put her phone aside and made a decision. She would not spread rumors or accuse Larry without evidence, but she would not pretend her concerns had disappeared either.
The Mystery Remains
For now, the truth about Puerto Rico remained uncertain. Had Charlotte simply raised a possibility that meant nothing, or was there a part of Larry and Sharra’s trip that Bethany still did not understand?
Until Larry was willing to have a calm and honest conversation, Bethany would be left searching for answers—and their relationship would remain caught between suspicion, frustration, and the need for trust.
