jnd ) LESA SPENDS THE NIGHT WITH MIKE… DARREN FINDS OUT AND FURIOUSLY CONFRONTS HER!

The Night That Destroyed Everything

THE NIGHT THAT DESTROYED EVERYTHING

ONE NIGHT. TWO MEN. ONE TERRIBLE SECRET.

Lisa thought the night with Mike would be the beginning of a new chapter in her life. She never imagined that a few hours of happiness would lead to a morning filled with fear, accusations, and unanswered questions.

But when she returned home, pale and trembling, her body revealed something she desperately wanted to hide.

Darren saw everything.

He didn’t need to ask where she had been. The look on her face, the sickness in her eyes, and the silence between them told him that something had changed.

What Darren didn’t know was that Lisa was hiding more than just the truth about Mike.

And before the day was over, someone would make a phone call that could destroy all three of their lives.

SCENE 1 — MIKE’S APARTMENT — LATE NIGHT

The city lights shimmered outside the window. Inside, Lisa sat quietly on the edge of Mike’s bed, staring at her phone.

Mike noticed her troubled expression and moved closer.

MIKEWhat’s wrong, Lisa? You’ve been quiet for the last ten minutes.
LISANothing. I’m just thinking about tomorrow.
MIKETomorrow? Why does tomorrow suddenly look so frightening to you?

Lisa forced a small smile, but her eyes betrayed her nervousness.

LISABecause things are getting complicated.

Mike looked at her carefully. He knew there was another man in her life, a man whose name could change the mood in the room without even being present.

Darren.

MIKEYou told me things between you and Darren were practically over.
LISAThey are. At least, that’s what I thought.
MIKEThen why are you still afraid of him?

Lisa looked away. She didn’t have an answer that she was ready to share.

Mike reached for her hand, hoping to reassure her.

MIKEListen to me. Whatever happens, you need to decide what you really want. You can’t keep living between two different lives.
LISAI know.

But knowing what she needed to do was different from finding the courage to do it.

The night passed, and Lisa stayed with Mike. For a few hours, she tried to forget the arguments, the doubts, and the emotional weight of her relationship with Darren.

She wanted to believe she could start again. She wanted to believe that the past would stay where it belonged.

But the morning was already waiting for her. And it would bring questions she wasn’t prepared to answer.

SCENE 2 — MIKE’S APARTMENT — EARLY MORNING

Sunlight slipped through the curtains. Lisa stood in front of a mirror, fixing her hair. She looked exhausted, and a strange feeling of uneasiness had settled in her stomach.

Mike appeared behind her.

MIKEYou look like you haven’t slept at all.
LISAI barely did.
MIKEStay for breakfast. You don’t have to rush.

Lisa shook her head and picked up her bag.

LISAI need to go home before Darren starts asking questions.
MIKEYou’re still worried about what he’ll think?
LISAYou don’t understand. Darren doesn’t let things go easily. If he finds out I was here, he’ll want to know everything.
MIKEThen tell him the truth.
LISAAnd what happens after that? Do you think everything suddenly becomes simple?

Mike fell silent. For the first time, he seemed to understand that their relationship had consequences beyond the two of them.

Lisa walked toward the door, but before leaving, she stopped.

LISAMike, last night meant something to me. I don’t want you to think it didn’t.
MIKEThen don’t act like it was a mistake.

Lisa looked at him, unable to respond. She left without another word.

As the door closed, Mike stood alone in the apartment, wondering whether he had just begun a relationship or stepped into a disaster.

SCENE 3 — LISA’S HOME — MORNING

Lisa entered the house quietly. She placed her bag on a chair and tried to steady herself. The moment she reached the kitchen, a wave of nausea forced her to stop.

She covered her mouth and hurried away. A few moments later, she returned, looking pale and shaken.

Darren was standing near the hallway. He had been awake for some time. His eyes moved from Lisa’s face to the bag she had carried inside.

DARRENWhere were you last night?
LISAI was out.
DARRENOut where?
LISADarren, please. I just got home. I don’t want to argue.
DARRENYou disappear for an entire night, come home looking like you’ve seen a ghost, and expect me not to ask questions?

Lisa turned toward the kitchen, hoping to escape the conversation. But the nausea returned. She gripped the counter and closed her eyes.

DARRENLisa? Are you okay?
LISAI’m fine.
DARRENYou don’t look fine.

She tried to walk past him, but Darren stepped aside only after noticing how unsteady she seemed.

DARRENYou’ve been sick?
LISAIt’s probably something I ate.

Darren watched her carefully. Something about her explanation felt incomplete.

He remembered the unanswered messages from the previous night. He remembered calling her twice and receiving no response.

Now she was standing in front of him, offering excuses and refusing to meet his eyes. A painful thought began to form in his mind.

DARRENWere you with someone?

Lisa’s face changed. It was only for a second, but Darren noticed. And that single reaction told him more than her words had.

SCENE 4 — THE CONFRONTATION — LATE MORNING

Darren followed Lisa into the living room. She sat on the sofa, pressing a hand against her forehead. He remained standing.

DARRENLook at me and tell me where you were.
LISAWhy are you doing this?
DARRENBecause you’ve been lying to me!
LISAI haven’t told you everything. That doesn’t mean you can accuse me of anything you want.
DARRENThen give me one honest answer. Where did you spend the night?

Silence filled the room. Darren laughed bitterly, but there was no humor in his expression.

DARRENI knew something was wrong. You stopped answering my calls, and now you can’t even look me in the eyes.
LISADarren, please calm down.
DARRENDon’t tell me to calm down! I’ve been trying to understand what’s happening between us, and you’ve been treating me like I don’t deserve the truth.

Lisa stood up.

LISAMaybe things between us haven’t been what you think they are.
DARRENWhat is that supposed to mean?
LISAIt means we’ve had problems for a long time. You know that.
DARRENEvery relationship has problems. That doesn’t give you the right to disappear without telling me anything.

Lisa took a breath. She knew that the conversation could no longer be avoided.

LISAI was with Mike.

The room went silent. Darren didn’t move. For a moment, he looked as though he hadn’t understood what she had said. Then the meaning reached him.

DARRENMike? You spent the night with Mike?
LISAYes.

Darren turned away, running a hand through his hair. His face filled with disbelief.

DARRENHow could you do this to me, Lisa?
LISAYou keep talking as if everything was perfect between us!
DARRENThat isn’t an answer! You could have told me you wanted to leave. You could have ended things before getting involved with someone else. But you let me believe we were still trying to fix this.

Lisa’s eyes filled with tears.

LISAI didn’t know how to tell you.
DARRENYou didn’t know how, or you didn’t want to?

She had no answer. Darren looked at her again, and the anger in his eyes was mixed with something more painful: disappointment.

DARRENWas any of it real to you?

Lisa tried to speak, but the words would not come. For the first time that morning, she understood that she might lose Darren completely. And despite everything that had happened with Mike, the thought frightened her.

SCENE 5 — A RELATIONSHIP FALLING APART — AFTERNOON

The argument continued until neither of them had the energy to shout. Lisa sat at one end of the sofa. Darren stood beside the window, looking outside without really seeing anything.

DARRENHow long have you been seeing him?
LISAI don’t know what you want me to say.
DARRENThe truth would be a good start.
LISAThings happened quickly.
DARRENSo quickly that you couldn’t even tell me our relationship was over?
LISAYou weren’t listening to me anymore, Darren. Every time I tried to explain how unhappy I was, you turned it into another argument.
DARRENAnd you thought Mike would solve everything?
LISANo. I didn’t think that.
DARRENThen what did you think?
LISAI thought someone finally understood me.

Darren absorbed her words in silence. He remembered their earlier days, when Lisa would tell him about her worries and he would promise to stand beside her. He remembered the small disagreements that had grown into long arguments.

Perhaps he had ignored her feelings. Perhaps she had stopped trying to explain them. But none of that made the present situation hurt less.

DARRENYou could have walked away, Lisa. You didn’t have to bring another person into this.
LISAI know.
DARRENDo you? Because right now, I don’t know who you are anymore.
LISAI’m still the same person.
DARRENNo. The person I trusted would have told me the truth.

He picked up his jacket from a chair. Lisa watched him, suddenly frightened by the possibility that he was leaving for good.

LISAWhere are you going?
DARRENSomewhere I can think without looking at you and remembering everything I didn’t know.
LISADarren, please don’t leave like this.

He stopped near the door. For a moment, it seemed he might turn around. Instead, he spoke quietly.

DARRENYou already made your choice last night. Now I have to make mine.

He walked out. Lisa remained motionless, listening to his footsteps fade. The house felt different without him.

She had wanted to escape the tension between them, but now she was left with a new kind of emptiness.

Her phone vibrated. A message from Mike appeared on the screen.

We need to talk. There’s something I didn’t tell you.

Lisa stared at the words. Before she could reply, another message arrived.

Please don’t tell Darren about last night until you hear my side.

Her hands began to tremble. What exactly had Mike failed to tell her?

SCENE 6 — MIKE’S CALL — EVENING

Lisa sat alone in her bedroom, reading Mike’s messages repeatedly. She finally called him. He answered after several rings.

MIKELisa.
LISAWhat is going on? Why are you telling me not to speak to Darren?

Mike exhaled heavily.

MIKEBecause I need to explain something before he hears it from someone else.
LISAExplain what?

There was a pause.

MIKEDarren contacted me.

Lisa sat upright.

LISAWhat?
MIKEHe called me earlier. He wanted to know whether you were with me last night.
LISAWhat did you tell him?
MIKEI told him we needed to talk.
LISAMike, this is already a mess. I just had the worst argument of my life. Darren thinks I betrayed him, and I don’t even know where we stand anymore.
MIKEI know.
LISAThen tell me what you’re hiding.

Mike remained silent for so long that Lisa checked whether the call had disconnected.

LISAMik
