🔥 BROOKE REFUSES TO WORK FOR THE FAMILY — THEN ANNOUNCES SHE MIGHT MOVE TO CHICAGO! 😱 BETHANY SAYS “HELL NO!”
BETHANY FINALLY ADMITS THE PROBLEM
The conversation started with something Larry and Bethany had been arguing about for a while: Brooke's future.
Brooke had made it clear that she didn't want to spend her life working simply because her family owned a company. To Brooke, she needed to figure out what she actually wanted for herself.
Bethany wasn't seeing it that way.
Bethany: “Larry, I think we've raised a spoiled and entitled child.”
Larry immediately looked at her.
Larry: “You really think Brooke is the entitled one?”
Bethany: “Yes. She thinks everything should be handed to her.”
Larry shook his head.
Larry: “Bethany, you're the one acting entitled right now.”
Bethany couldn't believe what she was hearing.
Bethany: “How am I the entitled one?”
Larry: “Because you're expecting Brooke to live the life you think she should live instead of letting her figure out what she wants.”
BROOKE REFUSES TO WORK FOR THE FAMILY
Brooke eventually joined the conversation and made her position clear.
Brooke: “I'm just going to say it. I don't want to work for the family company.”
Bethany immediately reacted.
Bethany: “Why not? You have an opportunity right in front of you.”
Brooke: “Because it's not what I want. I don't want to spend my life working for my family just because it's convenient.”
Larry looked at Brooke and nodded.
Larry: “I understand wanting to make your own way. But Brooke, you can't just go around quitting every time something doesn't feel right.”
Brooke: “I'm not saying I'm quitting life, Dad. I'm saying I need to figure out what I actually want.”
LARRY QUESTIONS BETHANY'S UPBRINGING
Larry then turned the conversation back toward Bethany.
Larry: “Maybe the problem isn't that Brooke has too much discipline. Maybe your dad didn't give you enough discipline growing up.”
Bethany's expression immediately changed.
Bethany: “What does my father have to do with this?”
Larry: “I'm saying you keep calling Brooke entitled, but you're demanding that everything happen your way.”
Bethany wasn't going to let that accusation go.
Bethany: “So now you're blaming me for how she turned out?”
Larry: “I'm telling you that you might want to look at yourself too.”
The room went quiet.
DESTINY PUTS CHICAGO IN BROOKE'S HEAD
Later, Brooke had a private conversation with Destiny.
Destiny asked Brooke what she planned to do now that so many things in Atlanta had changed.
Brooke admitted she didn't really have an answer.
Brooke: “Honestly, I don't have much keeping me here anymore. Everybody's gone. I don't have a job. I don't even know what I want to do with my future.”
Destiny then made a suggestion that Brooke couldn't stop thinking about.
Destiny: “Why don't you move to Chicago?”
Brooke paused.
Brooke: “Chicago?”
Destiny: “Yeah. I'm there. You'd have family around you. You could find a job, look at apartments, maybe even go back to school.”
For the first time in a long time, Brooke felt like she had another option.
BROOKE STARTS PLANNING A NEW LIFE
Brooke began thinking about what life in Chicago could look like.
She imagined getting her own apartment, possibly living in a high-rise, finding work, and finally making decisions without everyone else telling her what she should do.
Brooke: “Maybe I could get an apartment in the city. Maybe I could find an assistant job. Maybe I could even go back to school.”
Larry listened carefully when Brooke eventually told him.
Larry: “Have you actually researched how expensive Chicago is?”
Brooke: “I've been looking.”
Larry: “And you have a job lined up?”
Brooke: “Not yet. But Destiny is there, and Auntie Duchess knows people. I could figure something out.”
Larry wasn't completely against the idea.
Larry: “I understand wanting to be closer to family. I'm just saying you need a real plan.”
BETHANY OVERHEARS ONE WORD — “CHICAGO”
Then Bethany walked into the room.
She immediately heard Brooke talking about moving.
Bethany: “Wait. You're thinking about moving to Chicago?”
Brooke looked at her.
Brooke: “I'm considering it.”
Bethany's answer came instantly.
Bethany: “HELL NO!”
Brooke stared at her mother.
Brooke: “Why do you get to decide where I live?”
Bethany: “Because you don't have a job, you don't have a plan, and you're talking about moving to another state!”
Brooke: “That's exactly why I'm considering it! I'm doing nothing here!”
Larry stepped into the conversation.
Larry: “Bethany, calm down. She's talking about an option. She hasn't packed her bags.”
Bethany: “But she's making another impulsive decision!”
BROOKE FINALLY TELLS HER FAMILY WHAT SHE REALLY WANTS
Brooke looked at both of them.
Brooke: “Maybe I don't want the family company. Maybe I don't want to stay in Atlanta just because everybody expects me to. Maybe I need to leave and figure out who I am.”
Bethany became emotional.
Bethany: “So you're just going to leave everybody?”
Brooke: “No. I'm trying to build my own life.”
Larry looked at Brooke seriously.
Larry: “And if you go, remember something. You can't just quit when life gets hard. Wherever you go, you have to commit and take responsibility.”
Brooke nodded.
Brooke: “I know, Dad. That's what I'm trying to learn.”
Bethany looked at Larry in disbelief.
Bethany: “You're actually considering letting her move to Chicago?”
Larry paused before answering.
Larry: “I'm considering letting my daughter make a serious life decision—with a serious plan.”
Brooke smiled slightly.
But Bethany wasn't smiling.
