Nou ) When Bethany Thought She Had Discovered Larry’s Biggest Secret

Bethany had no idea that one ordinary afternoon was about to destroy everything she believed about her marriage.
The house is unusually quiet.
Bethany moves from room to room, cleaning every corner with tired hands. She wipes the shelves, straightens the books, and removes old files from a dusty cabinet.
Until she notices an old wooden drawer.
It is slightly open.
Bethany stops.
She slowly walks toward it and pulls it open.
Inside are old documents, photographs and envelopes.
Bethany notices one small white envelope.
She picks it up.
The name LARRY is written across it.
Her fingers slowly open the envelope.
A document slips into her hands.
A MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE.
Bethany’s eyes move across the page.
LARRY.
LYNETTE.
Bethany freezes.
Her hands begin to shake.
She slowly sits on the floor.
Tears fill her eyes.
Larry had married Lynette.
And Bethany had never known.
Bethany notices several old files inside the drawer.
She opens the first.
Then another.
Finally, she finds an envelope marked:
DIVORCE
Her heart stops.
She opens the envelope.
A divorce petition.
Larry’s name.
Bethany’s name.
He had been preparing to divorce her.
Bethany thought the marriage certificate was the biggest secret Larry had hidden from her.
She was wrong.
The divorce papers proved that Larry had already been planning to leave her.
But there was still one question…
WHY DID LARRY MARRY LYNETTE?Larry steps out of his car.
He looks completely unaware of what is waiting for him.
Larry turns.
Bethany stands several feet away.
Her eyes are red from crying.
She is holding the divorce papers.
She throws the papers against his chest.
Larry looks around as people begin watching.
She holds up the marriage certificate.
Larry says nothing.
His silence is enough.
Bethany looks at him in disbelief.
The single word destroys her.
Bethany stares at him as tears fall down her face.
Larry drives away.
Bethany stands alone, holding the divorce papers and the marriage certificate.
But then she notices something written on the back of the marriage certificate.
A handwritten date.
And underneath it…
ANOTHER NAME.
Not Lynette.
Someone else.
Someone Bethany recognizes.
The house is dark.
Bethany sits alone at the dining table.
The marriage certificate lies in front of her.
Beside it are the divorce papers.
She looks at the photograph she discovered inside Larry’s old file.
Larry is standing beside Lynette.
But there is someone else in the photograph.
Someone Bethany recognizes.
Suddenly…
CLICK.
The front door unlocks.
Footsteps move slowly through the hallway.
They stop outside the room.
The door handle begins to turn.
Bethany holds her breath.
The door slowly opens.
A shadow appears.
The mysterious person places an old envelope on the table.
“IF YOU WANT TO KNOW WHY LARRY MARRIED LYNETTE, OPEN THIS.”
Bethany’s hands begin to tremble.
She reaches for the envelope.
Her fingers touch the seal…
AND JUST BEFORE SHE OPENS IT—
Who is the person standing at Bethany’s door?
Why did Larry marry Lynette?
And what is hidden inside the mysterious envelope?
