SCENE 1 — THE SHOCKING NEWS

The hospital corridor was silent. Yaya sat nervously inside the doctor’s room, waiting for the results of her medical examination. She had come to the hospital because she had not been feeling well. She never imagined that one visit would change her life forever.

DOCTOR

Yaya, I have examined you carefully, and your test results have revealed something important.

YAYA

Doctor, please tell me. Is something wrong with me? I’ve been feeling strange for days.

DOCTOR

Your reports confirm that you are pregnant.

YAYA

Wayne froze. He stared at her as if he had heard something impossible.

YAYA

WAYNE

No! This baby is not mine! I haven’t done anything with you that could make me the father of this child!

YAYA

YAYA

I don’t know how to explain it. I went to the hospital because I was feeling unwell. The doctor told me I was pregnant. That’s all I know!

Wayne turned away angrily. Yaya stood in silence, tears rolling down her cheeks. The person she had hoped would support her was now treating her like a stranger.

SCENE 3 — WAYNE TELLS NANA

Yaya remained in the living room, hoping Wayne would return and listen to her. Instead, she heard her name coming from Nana’s room.

I knew Yaya wasn’t the right girl for you! I knew that one day she would bring trouble into this family!

WAYNE

I don’t know what to believe anymore, Nana.

NANA

Then don’t believe her without proof. We must find out the truth before accepting anything she says.

Yaya slowly stepped away from the door and sat down on the sofa. She placed one hand over her stomach.

YAYA

What have I done to deserve this? I came home to tell the truth, and now everyone thinks I’m lying.

YAYA

I’m sorry, little one. I don’t even understand what’s happening to us. I don’t know why everyone is treating us this way.

For the first time, Yaya felt completely alone. She had no explanation that could satisfy Wayne or Nana. All she had was the medical report and the doctor’s words.

A few minutes later, Wayne and Nana returned to the living room. Yaya stood up, hoping they would finally listen to her.

Wayne, please. Can we talk calmly? I know you’re shocked, but I need you to listen to me.

WAYNE

What exactly do you want me to listen to? You still haven’t explained how this happened!

YAYA

I have told you everything I know. I went to the hospital because I wasn’t feeling well. The doctor examined me and told me I was pregnant.

NANA

And you expect us to accept that explanation without asking questions?

YAYA

I didn’t go to the hospital expecting this news. I was just as shocked as you are!

WAYNE

Yaya looked at him with wounded eyes.

She turned and walked toward her bedroom. Wayne watched her leave, while Nana remained convinced that Yaya was hiding something.

SCENE 6 — YAYA CALLS THE HOSPITAL

That evening, Yaya sat alone in her bedroom. The medical report lay beside her. She read it repeatedly, hoping to discover an answer that would explain everything.

YAYA

I need to speak to the doctor again. Maybe there’s something I didn’t understand. I need answers before my entire life falls apart.

RECEPTIONIST

Good evening. How may I help you?

YAYA

I visited the hospital earlier today. I need to speak to the doctor who examined me.

RECEPTIONIST

May I ask what the matter concerns?

YAYA

RECEPTIONIST

The doctor isn’t available right now. You can come to the hospital tomorrow morning.

YAYA

When the call ended, Yaya looked at herself in the mirror. She was exhausted, frightened, and desperate for answers.

Nana’s face turned pale. Before she could ask another question, the call disconnected. She tried calling back, but the number was switched off.

The following morning, Yaya prepared to return to the hospital. She had barely slept. Every time she closed her eyes, she heard Wayne accusing her of carrying someone else’s child.

YAYA

Nana… where did you get this? This can’t be real!

NANA

I found it among some old documents. I hoped it had nothing to do with Yaya, but now I’m not so sure.
