The door was still closed when Sherre heard the words that would change her life forever.
One woman stood inside the house, claiming ownership. Another stood outside with nowhere to go. And between them was Larry, the man who had promised Sherre a roof over her head.
But the biggest shock was yet to come.
When Sherre finally revealed why she had come to this house, Bethany’s anger turned into fear. The secret hidden behind that door threatened to destroy everything.
SCENE 1 — SHERRE’S RENTED HOUSE
The room is almost empty. A few bags lie scattered across the floor. Sherre sits on a broken chair, staring at the eviction notice in her trembling hands.
LANDLORD
You’ve had enough time, Sherre. I warned you again and again, but you never listened.
SHERRE
Please, give me just a few more days. I promise I’ll arrange the money.
LANDLORD
I’ve heard those promises for three months. Take everything and leave.
The door slams shut. Sherre sinks to the floor, covers her face, and reaches for her phone.
SHERRE
What have I done to myself? Where will I go now?
SCENE 2 — LARRY’S HOUSE
Larry answers his ringing phone. Sherre’s name appears on the screen.
LARRY
Hello, Sherre? What’s happened?
SHERRE
Larry, I need your help. My landlord has thrown me out. I have nowhere to go.
LARRY
All right. Come here for a few days. We’ll figure something out.
SHERRE
Thank you, Larry. I won’t forget what you’re doing for me.
Sherre ends the call, believing she has finally found a safe place. She has no idea what awaits her.
SCENE 3 — BETHANY’S ANGER
BETHANY
You did what? You invited Sherre to stay here without asking me?
LARRY
She’s in trouble. I couldn’t just leave her on the street.
BETHANY
This is my house! The moment you let her enter, she’ll start behaving as if she owns this place.
A vehicle stops outside. Both turn toward the window. Sherre has arrived with all her belongings.
SCENE 4 — THE FIGHT AT THE DOOR
BETHANY
Stop right there! You are not staying here.
SHERRE
Larry himself gave me permission. I’m only asking for a few days.
BETHANY
I don’t care what Larry told you. Take your belongings and leave!
SHERRE
This is my daughter Roh’s house. It’s my ex-husband’s house, too. I have a connection to this family!
Bethany suddenly kicks Sherre. Stunned and furious, Sherre pushes back. The argument erupts into a fight.
BETHANY
Get out of my house!
SHERRE
You have no right to touch me!
SCENE 5 — LARRY TRIES TO STOP THEM
Larry rushes outside and separates the two women. Clothes are scattered across the ground.
LARRY
Enough! Both of you, stop!
BETHANY
She needs to learn that she cannot walk into this house whenever she wants!
SHERRE
You promised me a place to stay. I have nowhere to sleep tonight, and you’re letting her treat me like a criminal!
Larry looks away, unable to find the right words. Sherre’s disappointment slowly turns into determination.
SCENE 6 — THE HIDDEN DOCUMENT
SHERRE
You keep saying this is your house. But you don’t know everything about this family.
LARRY
Sherre, what are you trying to say?
Sherre reaches into her handbag and pulls out a folded piece of paper.
SHERRE
Something I should have shown you a long time ago. The truth about who really has a claim to this house.
BETHANY
Give it to me!
SHERRE
No. Not until Larry hears the truth.
THE BIGGEST SECRET
Bethany suddenly lunges forward.
BETHANY
NO! Don’t let her show you that document!
LARRY
Why? What is written on it?
A phone begins ringing inside the house. Larry sees the name on the screen and turns pale.
SHERRE
The person calling you is the same person who can explain why Bethany is so afraid of this document.
LARRY
This can’t be true.
SHERRE
