BROOKE’S CALL EXPOSES LARRY’S HIDDEN HEALTH CRISIS
THE CALL THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING
Larry had been hiding something.
Something serious.
Something he never wanted Sharra to know.
But one phone call from Brooke was about to change everything.
Brooke stood alone in her room, staring at her phone.
Her hands trembled.
She had spent days trying to convince herself that her father was okay.
But she couldn’t forget the sight of him being taken to the hospital.
She finally pressed the call button.
SHARRA
“Brooke? What’s wrong?”
BROOKE
“Mom, I need you to listen to me.”
SHARRA
“Of course. Tell me what happened.”
BROOKE
“It’s Dad.”
SHARRA
“What about Larry?”
BROOKE
“Dad was in the hospital.”
SHARRA
“What?”
BROOKE
“He had a serious health scare two days ago.”
SHARRA
“Why didn’t anyone tell me?”
BROOKE
“Because Dad didn’t want you to know.”
SHARRA
“Is he okay?”
BROOKE
“He’s home now. But Mom… I’m scared.”
SHARRA
“Why are you scared?”
BROOKE
“Because I don’t think the stress is helping him.”
SHARRA
“What kind of stress?”
BROOKE
“Bethany.”
SCENE 2 — BROOKE REVEALS THE TRUTH
Brooke walked slowly across the room.
She had been holding these feelings inside for too long.
BROOKE
“Mom, Dad needs peace right now. He doesn’t need arguments. He doesn’t need more pressure.”
SHARRA
“What has been happening between them?”
BROOKE
“They keep fighting.”
BROOKE
“And every time I see Dad, he looks exhausted.”
SHARRA
“I thought Larry was doing better.”
BROOKE
“He is better physically, but I don’t think he’s okay emotionally.”
SHARRA
“Why didn’t Larry call me?”
BROOKE
“Because he didn’t want you to worry.”
“Dad always tries to protect everyone else.”
“But who is protecting him?”
Sharra immediately understood.
She knew she had to see Larry.
SHARRA
“I’m coming over.”
BROOKE
“Mom…”
SHARRA
“No. You were right to call me.”
SHARRA
“If your father is sick, I need to see him.”
SCENE 3 — SHARRA ARRIVES
The front door opened.
Sharra stepped inside.
She immediately saw Larry sitting quietly on the sofa.
Bethany was beside him.
LARRY
“Sharra?”
SHARRA
“What happened to you?”
LARRY
“It’s not as bad as you think.”
SHARRA
“You were in the hospital.”
BETHANY
“Larry is fine now.”
SHARRA
“I wasn’t talking to you.”
SHARRA
“I just want to know what happened.”
LARRY
“I had a health problem. The doctors treated me. I’m home now.”
SHARRA
“And you thought I shouldn’t know?”
Larry didn’t answer.
Sharra stared at him.
The room became completely silent.
That silence told Sharra everything.
SCENE 4 — THE ARGUMENT BEGINS
SHARRA
“Brooke said Larry has been under a lot of stress.”
BETHANY
“Of course she did.”
SHARRA
“What does that mean?”
BETHANY
“It means Brooke doesn’t know everything that happens inside this marriage.”
SHARRA
“She knows enough to be worried about her father.”
BETHANY
“And you think I’m responsible for his health?”
SHARRA
“I think Larry needs peace.”
BETHANY
“I have been taking care of him.”
SHARRA
“Then why does Brooke believe he is constantly under pressure?”
BETHANY
“Because Brooke already has an opinion about me.”
LARRY
“Please. This isn’t helping.”
SHARRA
“Larry, you should be resting.”
LARRY
“I know.”
SHARRA
“Then why are you standing here trying to stop everyone from fighting?”
BETHANY
“Because this is my marriage.”
SHARRA
“Then start treating it like one.”
SCENE 5 — BETHANY LOSES HER PATIENCE
BETHANY
“You don’t know what I’ve sacrificed for Larry.”
SHARRA
“I don’t need to know everything.”
SHARRA
“I just know that man was in a hospital bed.”
BETHANY
“And you think I wanted that?”
SHARRA
“No.”
SHARRA
“But if you truly care about him, you need to understand what he needs right now.”
BETHANY
“And what exactly do you think he needs?”
SHARRA
“Peace.”
BETHANY
“Larry, are you going to let her talk to me like this?”
LARRY
“Bethany, I never said I don’t appreciate what you’ve done.”
BETHANY
“Then say something.”
Larry opened his mouth.
But before he could speak—
The front door opened.
Everyone turned.
Brooke walked inside.
SCENE 6 — THE QUESTION LARRY NEVER EXPECTED
BROOKE
“Mom…”
SHARRA
“I’m here.”
LARRY
“Brooke.”
BROOKE
“Dad…”
LARRY
“Who told you about my health?”
BROOKE
“I found out because you were in the hospital.”
LARRY
“And then you called your mother?”
BROOKE
“Yes.”
LARRY
“Why?”
BROOKE
“Because I was scared.”
BROOKE
“I didn’t know what else to do.”
SHARRA
“Larry, don’t blame her.”
LARRY
“She had no right to involve you.”
SHARRA
“She is your daughter.”
BROOKE
“I didn’t call Mom to cause problems.”
BROOKE
“I called her because I thought you needed someone.”
Larry stared at his daughter.
For a moment, his anger disappeared.
But something else replaced it.
Fear.
SCENE 7 — THE SECRET BEHIND LARRY’S SILENCE
SHARRA
“Larry… what aren’t you telling us?”
LARRY
“I didn’t tell Sharra because I didn’t want her coming back into my life because she felt sorry for me.”
SHARRA
“That’s what you think I would do?”
LARRY
“I don’t know anymore.”
SHARRA
“You could have called me.”
LARRY
“And said what?”
SHARRA
“The truth.”
Bethany watched them carefully.
For the first time, she seemed worried.
Brooke noticed it too.
Something was being hidden.
BROOKE
“Bethany… what are you not telling us?”
BETHANY
“Nothing.”
BROOKE
“Then why do you look scared?”
LARRY
“Bethany…”
LARRY
“What did the doctor tell you?”
Bethany froze.
Sharra looked at Larry.
Brooke looked at Bethany.
The entire room went silent.
SHARRA
“What doctor?”
BETHANY
“Larry wasn’t supposed to tell anyone.”
BROOKE
“Tell us what?”
