THE TRUTH BEHIND THE ACCUSATION

FADE IN:

INT. BETHANY’S LIVING ROOM — EVENING

Bethany sits quietly on the couch.

Anger is clearly visible on her face.

She has no idea that, within minutes, a storm is about to enter her house — one that could change everyone’s relationships forever.

Brooke stands directly in front of her. Her face shows a mixture of frustration and hurt.

BROOKE

Why do you keep comparing me to my mother?

Bethany looks at Brooke without hesitation.

BETHANY

Because you’re following the same path as your mother. The way your mother used to go around with different guys… you’re doing the same thing.

Brooke’s eyes immediately fill with tears. She looks away for a moment, trying to control her emotions.

BROOKE

How dare you talk about my mother like that?

Bethany remains firm.

BETHANY

I’m only saying what I see.

Brooke says nothing.

She suddenly pulls out her phone and walks out of the room.

Bethany watches her leave. She assumes Brooke has gone outside to cry.

But Brooke isn’t crying.

She’s making a call.

CUT TO: INT. HALLWAY — CONTINUOUS

Brooke holds the phone tightly against her ear. Her hands are trembling.

BROOKE

Mom… you need to come here right now.

INTERCUT WITH: INT. SHARRA’S HOUSE — EVENING

Sharra looks concerned as she listens to her daughter.

SHARRA

What happened?

Brooke’s voice trembles.

BROOKE

Bethany said horrible things about me… and about you. She said my character is just like yours.

There is silence on the other end of the phone.

Sharra’s expression slowly changes. Her eyes become serious.

Then, calmly—

SHARRA

I’m coming.

CUT TO: EXT. BETHANY’S HOUSE — NIGHT

Twenty minutes later, a car suddenly pulls up outside Bethany’s house.

The door opens.

Sharra steps out quickly. Brooke follows behind her.

They walk toward the house with a clear sense of purpose.

CUT TO: INT. BETHANY’S LIVING ROOM — NIGHT

Bethany is still sitting on the couch.

The front door opens.

Sharra walks inside.

The moment she enters the room, her eyes lock onto Bethany.

SHARRA

What did you say to my daughter?

Bethany slowly raises her head and stands.

BETHANY

I said what I believe is the truth.

Sharra steps forward.

SHARRA

You’re questioning my daughter’s character?

Bethany doesn’t back down.

BETHANY

And you’re not even trying to understand what happened.

Sharra’s anger rises.

SHARRA

You have no right to compare my daughter to my past!

Brooke stands behind her mother, silently watching the confrontation.

Then Sharra delivers a statement that makes Bethany furious.

SHARRA

Actually, Brooke isn’t the problem…

You are.

Bethany’s expression immediately changes.

BETHANY

What did you just say?

Sharra stares directly at her.

SHARRA

Before pointing fingers at everyone else… maybe you should look at yourself.

Bethany suddenly slams something onto the table.

BANG!

BETHANY

That’s enough!

The argument becomes more heated.

Brooke nervously steps backward.

Then Bethany’s eyes fall on a stick lying nearby.

Her anger takes over.

She reaches down…

And picks it up.

Brooke’s eyes widen.

BROOKE

Bethany, no!

Bethany doesn’t listen.

Sharra slowly backs away.

SHARRA

Bethany…

Put the stick down.

Bethany moves toward her.

Sharra tries to escape.

But suddenly—

Her leg hits the bed.

She loses her balance.

THUD!

Sharra falls backward onto the bed.

At that exact moment, Neri rushes forward to protect Sharra.

But during the struggle, Neri loses his balance too.

He falls beside the bed.

Silence.

Everyone freezes.

Bethany is still holding the stick.

Brooke stands beside Sharra, terrified.

Sharra slowly lifts her head.

She looks directly at Bethany.

But something has changed in her expression.

It isn’t only fear.

It’s recognition.

As if something from the past has suddenly returned to her mind.

Sharra speaks quietly.

SHARRA

Bethany…

If you picked up that stick, then maybe you still don’t know the truth.

Bethany’s face changes.

SHARRA

The truth your mother hid from all of us.

Bethany freezes.

BETHANY

My mother?

Sharra opens her mouth to continue—

BANG!

Everyone turns toward the front door.

Another pounding sound echoes through the house.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

Brooke looks toward the door nervously.

BROOKE

Who could that be?

Sharra looks at Bethany.

The stick slowly slips from Bethany’s hand.

CLATTER!

It hits the floor.

Then—

A voice comes from outside.

MYSTERIOUS VOICE

Bethany…

Open the door.

I need to talk to you about your mother.

Bethany’s face turns pale.

She knows that voice.

Because it doesn’t belong to a stranger.

It belongs to someone she believed was gone from her life forever.

BANG!

BANG!

Bethany slowly walks toward the door.

She reaches for the doorknob.

Her hand trembles.

She places her fingers around it.

Just before she can open it—

Sharra suddenly screams from behind her.

SHARRA

Bethany!

Don’t open that door!

Bethany stops.

Everyone in the room looks at one another.

Silence.

The mysterious person outside remains completely unseen.

Who is standing outside?

Why does Sharra know who it is?

And what secret about Bethany’s mother has Sharra been hiding all these years?

FADE OUT.
