THE DREAM THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING
HOOK

Larry believed he was simply having a normal conversation with his gym friend.

But Rob’s advice about Bethany’s business dream completely changed the direction of Larry’s life.

Instead of supporting Bethany financially, Rob convinced Larry to consider ending his marriage.

What Larry couldn’t see was that Rob wasn’t giving him that advice for the reason he claimed.

And when the real reason finally became clear, there was no going back.

SCENE 1 — AN UNEXPECTED CONVERSATION

The gym is crowded, with people moving between machines while music plays throughout the room.

Larry finishes his workout, grabs his towel, and sits down to catch his breath.

Rob notices him sitting alone and immediately realizes something is bothering him.

ROB
“Bro, something’s clearly on your mind. You okay?”

Larry looks toward Rob but doesn’t answer immediately.

LARRY
“It’s Bethany.”
ROB
“What’s going on with her?”

Larry takes a slow breath.

LARRY
“She wants me to put some money into her business.”
ROB
“What kind of business?”
LARRY
“She wants to build something for herself. She thinks if I help her get started, she can turn it into something successful.”

Rob becomes unusually quiet.

He looks at Larry for a few seconds before finally speaking.

ROB
“If you want my honest opinion, don’t put your money into it.”
LARRY
“Then what should I do?”

Rob pauses before giving an answer Larry never expected.

ROB
“You should leave the marriage.”

Larry suddenly stops moving.

LARRY
“You mean divorce Bethany?”
ROB
“I’m saying you need to seriously think about it.”

Larry looks uncomfortable.

LARRY
“That’s not something I can just decide overnight.”
ROB
“I know. But if you already feel like things aren’t right, don’t keep throwing more money and time into the situation.”

Rob gives Larry one final look.

ROB
“Sometimes walking away is the only way to protect what you still have.”
SCENE 2 — WHAT ROB REALLY WANTED

Larry picks up his gym bag and prepares to leave.

LARRY
“I’m going home. I need to think.”
ROB
“Just remember what I told you.”

Larry walks toward the exit without realizing that Rob is watching him closely.

The moment Larry disappears through the doors, Rob’s expression changes.

He looks around the gym to make sure nobody is close enough to hear him.

Then Rob quietly admits the thought he has been hiding.

ROB — IN HIS THOUGHTS
“If Larry really leaves Bethany… maybe I’ll finally get my opportunity.”

Rob takes a deep breath.

ROB — IN HIS THOUGHTS
“I could treat her the way she deserves.”

He tries to push the thought away.

But deep down, Rob already knows exactly what he wants.

SCENE 3 — THE ENVELOPE

Later that evening, Larry walks through the front door.

Bethany is already waiting in the living room.

One look at Larry’s face tells her that something is wrong.

BETHANY
“Larry, we need to talk.”

Larry puts his keys on the table.

LARRY
“About your business?”

Bethany nods.

BETHANY
“Yes. I’m asking you to believe in me.”

She steps closer to him.

BETHANY
“I’m not looking for free money. I want you to invest in what I’m trying to build.”

Bethany explains that she wants to become independent and create something that belongs to her.

Larry listens without saying a word.

Bethany waits for his response.

Instead, Larry reaches into his bag.

He pulls out a sealed envelope.

BETHANY
“Larry… what’s inside that?”

Larry places the envelope directly in front of her.

LARRY
“I don’t know how else to say this.”

Bethany slowly opens it.

DIVORCE PAPERS.

BETHANY
“No… this can’t be happening.”
LARRY
“I’ve already made up my mind.”

Bethany’s eyes begin filling with tears.

BETHANY
“After all these years? You’re really doing this?”
LARRY
“I just don’t believe this marriage is working anymore.”

Bethany stands frozen, unable to process what just happened.

SCENE 4 — ROB GETS HIS ANSWER

The following day, Rob gets a phone call.

The moment he hears the news, his expression changes.

Larry has officially handed Bethany the divorce papers.

Rob ends the call and stands silently for a moment.

Then a small smile appears on his face.

The plan he never admitted out loud suddenly feels possible.

ROB
“Now I finally have a chance.”

Rob grabs his keys.

And he heads straight toward Bethany’s house.

SCENE 5 — ROB MAKES HIS MOVE

Rob reaches Bethany’s home and knocks on the door.

After a few seconds, Bethany opens it.

Her face still shows the pain from everything that happened with Larry.

BETHANY
“Rob? Why are you here?”
ROB
“I heard what happened. Can I come inside?”

Bethany steps away from the doorway.

Rob enters and looks at her carefully.

ROB
“I know Larry hurt you.”
BETHANY
“I never imagined my marriage would end like this.”

Rob moves a little closer.

ROB
“You shouldn’t have to face everything alone.”
BETHANY
“Why does this matter so much to you?”

Rob takes a long breath.

ROB
“Because I’ve wanted to tell you something for a long time.”

Bethany looks directly at him.

ROB
“I want to be the man standing beside you.”

Bethany looks confused.

BETHANY
“Rob… what are you saying?”
ROB
“I’m saying I want to marry you.”

Bethany says nothing.

Rob continues before she can respond.

ROB
“I know this is sudden. I know you’re still dealing with everything Larry did. But my feelings for you didn’t start today.”
BETHANY
“You’ve really felt this way all this time?”
ROB
“Yes. I just never had the courage to say it.”

Bethany looks down, thinking carefully about his words.

After a long silence, she looks back at him.

BETHANY
“If you really mean everything you just said…”
ROB
“I do.”
BETHANY
“Then… yes.”

Rob can barely hide his happiness.

SCENE 6 — A NEW BEGINNING

Weeks pass.

What began with heartbreak eventually turns into a wedding day.

Bethany stands beside Rob, ready to begin what she believes is a completely new chapter.

Her father, Mr. Newburger, is there for the ceremony.

MR. NEWBURGER
“Bethany, are you completely certain about this?”
BETHANY
“Yes, Dad. This is what I want.”

Mr. Newburger nods and gives her a quiet smile.

MR. NEWBURGER
“Then let’s start the ceremony.”

The music begins.

Rob looks at Bethany.

ROB
“I promise I’ll be there when you need me.”
BETHANY
“And I promise to move forward and build this new life with you.”

The ceremony continues until the final words are spoken.

Rob and Bethany are officially married.

Everyone around them applauds.

Rob reaches for Bethany’s hand.

For one perfect moment, it looks like everything has finally worked out.

Larry is no longer part of Bethany’s life. Bethany has moved forward. And Rob has finally gotten the future he wanted.

OR DID HE?

SCENE 7 — THE REALITY BEHIND THE DREAM

Suddenly, the wedding music stops.

The room begins disappearing around Rob.

The lights vanish.

Bethany is gone.

Larry is gone.

Mr. Newburger is gone.

EVERYTHING TURNS BLACK.

Then Rob suddenly opens his eyes.

He is lying alone in his bedroom.

Morning light is shining through the window.

Rob quickly sits up and looks around.

ROB
“Wait… what happened?”

He looks at the empty room.

There is no Bethany.

No Larry.

No wedding.

No divorce papers.

NOTHING HE SAW WAS REAL.

Rob slowly realizes the truth.

ROB
“It was all a dream…”

He sits quietly on the edge of his bed.

Every moment begins replaying inside his head.

The conversation with Larry. The divorce. Bethany’s tears. His proposal. The wedding.

None of it ever happened.

Larry was still married to Bethany.

Rob had never proposed to her.

Bethany had never said yes.

There had never been a wedding.

ROB
“So… it was never real.”

Rob takes a deep breath and stares at the floor.

Then, unexpectedly, a faint smile appears on his face.

Because although the wedding was only a dream… it exposed something Rob had been hiding from everyone.

He didn’t just dream about Bethany. He dreamed about having a life with her.

THE SCREEN FADES TO BLACK.
