Zashery Finally Lost Her Patience With Kai

ZASHERY FINALLY SNAPPED — AND ANTHONY NEVER EXPECTED WHAT HAPPENED NEXT!

Zashery had tried to stay patient for as long as she could, but caring for a sick, heartbroken little boy was becoming more than she could handle. After repeatedly trying to reach Shayla and getting no answer, she finally called Anthony. What happened when he arrived at her house would leave everyone questioning who was really responsible for Kai.

1. Another Night of Crying

Kai had barely slept the previous night. His little body was still recovering after a recent hospital visit, and he kept crying for his mother, Shayla. Sometimes he would reach toward the door as if he believed she might suddenly walk in and take him into her arms.

Zashery tried everything she could think of. She carried him around the house, offered him food, and attempted to calm him down. But every time she put him down, his cries started again.

“Kai, please, baby. I am trying my best,” she whispered, exhausted.

But Zashery was reaching her limit. She had responsibilities of her own, expenses to manage, and a personal life that had practically disappeared since Kai came into her care.

She picked up her phone and called Shayla again.

No answer.

2. Shayla’s Phone Kept Ringing

Zashery tried Shayla’s number several more times. Sometimes the call rang without an answer. Other times, she couldn’t get through at all.

“Where are you, Shayla?” she muttered angrily. “This is your child. He is sick, he needs his mother, and I cannot keep doing everything alone!”

She looked at Kai, who was sitting quietly for a moment with tears still running down his cheeks. His silence somehow hurt more than his crying. He was too young to understand why his mother wasn’t there, but he could feel her absence.

Finally, Zashery opened her contacts and called Anthony.

He answered, and before he could properly greet her, she began speaking.

“Anthony, you need to come here. Right now. I have had enough. I am not going to keep raising a child while everybody else disappears!”

Anthony tried to ask what had happened, but Zashery cut him off.

“Just get here!” she shouted before ending the call.

3. Anthony Arrives to an Angry Welcome

When Anthony arrived, he immediately sensed that something was wrong. Zashery stood outside with her arms crossed and an expression that made it clear she wasn’t interested in a friendly conversation.

“What is going on?” Anthony asked, looking past her toward the house.

“What is going on?” she repeated. “You have the nerve to ask me that? I have been taking care of Kai, paying for things he needs, losing sleep, and worrying about his health. Where have you been?”

Anthony lowered his eyes, trying to keep the argument from getting worse.

“I understand you’re frustrated. Tell me what Kai needs, and we can figure something out.”

“Figure something out?” Zashery snapped. “I have been figuring everything out by myself! I have a life too, Anthony. I have expenses, responsibilities, and things I need to do. I never agreed to carry this entire burden alone.”

Behind her, Kai began crying again.

Anthony glanced toward the little boy, and his expression changed. He could see how tired and upset Kai was. But before he could approach him, Zashery stepped inside.

4. “Take Your Child and Leave!”

Zashery returned carrying Kai in her arms. The little boy reached toward Anthony, his face wet with tears.

“Here!” Zashery said sharply, placing Kai into Anthony’s arms. “Take your child. I am done. I cannot do this anymore, and I refuse to keep accepting responsibility when nobody else wants to step up.”

Anthony held Kai securely against his chest as the toddler cried harder.

“Zashery, he is a child,” Anthony said quietly. “Look at him. He has already been through so much.”

“And what about me?” she fired back. “Does anybody care what I have been through? Every time I turn around, there is another problem, another expense, another sleepless night. I cannot keep sacrificing my entire life.”

“You didn’t have to take your anger out on him,” Anthony replied.

“Then you should have been here!” she shouted. “You and Shayla need to deal with this yourselves. I am not responsible for fixing everybody else’s problems.”

Anthony stood silently, one hand resting on his head as he tried to process everything. Kai clung to his shirt, sobbing as if he was afraid of being left behind again.

For a moment, Anthony wanted to shout back. Instead, he looked down at Kai and took a deep breath.

5. The One Thing Zashery Didn’t Know

Just as Anthony turned to leave, his phone began vibrating. He glanced at the screen and froze.

It was a message from an unknown number.

“Anthony, before you blame Shayla for everything, you need to know what really happened. She has been trying to reach you too. Check the message I sent you earlier. It concerns Kai’s hospital visit.”

Anthony read it twice. His anger suddenly gave way to confusion.

“What is that?” Zashery asked, noticing his expression.

“I don’t know yet,” he answered, staring at the screen. “But somebody knows something about Kai that I haven’t been told.”

He opened his earlier messages and scrolled through them. There was a missed notification he had overlooked during the chaos of the past few days.

His face grew serious.

It wasn’t proof that Shayla had abandoned Kai. It was something that raised an even bigger question: had everyone misunderstood what was happening to her?

Zashery folded her arms again, but this time she didn’t say anything. For the first time since Anthony had arrived, the argument had stopped.

6. Kai Reaches for His Mother

Anthony looked down at Kai. The little boy had grown quieter, but his tiny fingers were still gripping his father’s shirt. Every few seconds, he looked toward the street, waiting for someone who never appeared.

“Hey, buddy,” Anthony whispered, gently wiping his tears. “I’m here. You’re not going anywhere alone.”

Kai responded by reaching toward Anthony’s face, then turning his head toward the road again.

That small movement broke something inside Anthony. Whatever problems existed between the adults, Kai had never asked to be caught in the middle.

Anthony looked back at Zashery.

“You may be exhausted, and I understand that. But he doesn’t understand any of this. He only knows that he is sick, scared, and missing his mother.”

Zashery looked away. Her anger hadn’t disappeared, but the sight of Kai crying had finally made her pause.

“I can’t keep doing this,” she said in a quieter voice.

“Then we need to find a real solution,” Anthony replied. “Not one that leaves Kai wondering who will take him next.”

7. Anthony Makes a Decision

Anthony carried Kai toward his car, carefully securing him before closing the door. He wasn’t going to leave the little boy with another person simply because the adults couldn’t agree.

He decided to contact Shayla again, arrange the care Kai needed, and find out what the mysterious message meant. If Shayla was facing a problem nobody knew about, he needed the truth. If she had made a mistake, that would have to be addressed too.

Before getting into the driver’s seat, Anthony turned toward Zashery one last time.

“I won’t force you to take responsibility you cannot handle,” he said. “But I will not let Kai become the person everybody pushes away.”

Zashery remained by the door, silent. She had wanted Anthony to take Kai and leave, and now he was doing exactly that. Yet the sight of the little boy looking back at the house made her feel something she hadn’t expected.

For the first time, she wondered whether there was more to Shayla’s silence than she had imagined.

8. The Message That Could Change Everything

Anthony started the car, but before he could pull away, another message appeared on his phone.

“Don’t take Kai anywhere until you speak to me. There is something you need to know about the day he was admitted to the hospital. Shayla isn’t the only person who knows the truth.”

Anthony stopped breathing for a moment.

He looked at Kai in the back seat, then back at the message. Who had sent it? And why were they bringing up the hospital now?

He immediately called the number.

Someone answered—but instead of explaining, the voice on the other end asked one chilling question:

“Anthony, has anybody told you what Kai was doing just before he got sick?”

Anthony’s face went pale.

The call suddenly disconnected.

And as Kai began crying again, Anthony realized that the fight with Zashery might have been only the beginning of a much bigger story.

What really happened to Kai—and why was everyone keeping secrets?
