Scene 01 — A Dream Wedding

FADE IN: EXT. WEDDING VENUE – AFTERNOON

Golden sunlight shines over a beautiful wedding venue. Flowers decorate the entrance, white curtains sway gently in the breeze, and workers rush around to complete the final preparations.

At the center of the garden stands a magnificent wedding stage, carefully designed with roses, sparkling lights, and elegant golden decorations.

LYNETTE walks across the venue, checking every detail. Her face glows with happiness. This wedding is more than a celebration to her. It is a dream she has carried in her heart for years.

She stops in front of the stage and smiles proudly.

LYNETTEEverything must be perfect. My son deserves the most beautiful wedding day of his life.

She gently adjusts a flower near the edge of the stage.

LYNETTEI have waited so long for this moment. I want him to remember this day forever.

A wedding planner approaches her with a clipboard.

WEDDING PLANNERMrs. Lynette, the decorations are almost complete. The lighting team just needs a little more time.
LYNETTETake your time. I don’t want anything rushed. Every little detail matters today.

She looks toward the entrance, imagining her son walking onto the stage with his bride. Her eyes become moist with happiness.

LYNETTEI wish his father could see this. He would have been so proud.

She takes a deep breath and wipes away a tear. For a moment, everything feels peaceful.

But someone is watching her from a distance. Bethany stands near the side entrance, her expression cold and unreadable. Her eyes move toward the wedding stage. A bitter smile slowly appears on her face.

Bethany watches the workers finish the decorations. She notices the expensive flowers, the hanging curtains, and the electrical lights surrounding the stage. Her expression hardens.

BETHANYSo, Lynette gets to have everything she wants.

She folds her arms and looks toward Lynette, who is laughing with the wedding planner.

BETHANYEveryone is celebrating her happiness. Nobody even remembers what I have been through.

Bethany looks away, struggling to control her anger. A memory seems to cross her mind. Her jaw tightens.

BETHANYWhy should she get a perfect day when my life has been falling apart?

She takes a few steps toward the stage, keeping her movements discreet. The workers are busy carrying chairs and arranging tables. Nobody pays attention to her.

Bethany glances around. Her eyes settle on the decorations. A dangerous thought enters her mind.

BETHANYLet’s see how happy she looks when all of this disappears.

She walks away briefly, concealing her intentions.

LYNETTEPlease place these at the front. My son loves white roses.
DECORATOROf course, ma’am. They will look wonderful here.

Lynette steps back to admire the stage. Her phone rings. She answers immediately.

LYNETTEHello, sweetheart!

Her son’s cheerful voice comes through the phone.

SON (V.O.)Mom, how are the preparations going?
LYNETTEEverything is coming together beautifully. You should see this stage!
SON (V.O.)I know you’ve been working so hard. Please don’t exhaust yourself.

Lynette smiles warmly.

LYNETTEI’m not tired. Not today. Today is one of the happiest days of my life.
SON (V.O.)Thank you for everything, Mom. I couldn’t have done this without you.

Lynette presses a hand against her heart.

LYNETTEYou don’t have to thank me. Seeing you happy is all I have ever wanted.

She ends the call and looks at the stage again. She has no idea that Bethany is preparing to destroy the moment she has worked so hard to create.

Scene 04 — The Fire Begins

CUT TO: EXT. BEHIND THE WEDDING STAGE – EVENING

The sky begins to turn orange. Most of the workers move toward the dining area to prepare for the arriving guests.

Bethany returns to the stage when nobody is looking directly at her. She stares at the decorative fabric and flowers. Her breathing becomes heavier.

For a moment, she hesitates. She looks toward the entrance, where a few guests are beginning to arrive. Then her expression changes.

She makes a reckless decision and deliberately starts a fire near the stage decorations. A tiny flame flickers. Bethany steps back.

Within moments, the fire catches the dry decorative material and begins spreading. Bethany watches the flames grow.

BETHANYNow let’s see how perfect your special day can be.

She turns away and tries to disappear into the crowd. But the flames rise higher. A decorator notices smoke curling above the curtains.

DECORATORFire! There’s a fire behind the stage!

He drops the flowers he is carrying and rushes toward the burning decorations. Another worker turns around.

WORKEREveryone, move back! Call for help!

WEDDING PLANNERMrs. Lynette, please stay back! The stage is on fire!

But Lynette cannot believe what she is seeing. The beautiful stage she carefully prepared is surrounded by flames. Her eyes fill with tears.

LYNETTEMy stage! Somebody, please do something!

She tries to move closer, but a worker stops her from approaching the burning structure.

WORKERMa’am, it’s dangerous! You must stay away!
LYNETTEThose decorations took days to prepare! My son’s wedding is today!

Her voice breaks. She watches the flowers burn and the curtains collapse. Everything she worked for is disappearing before her eyes.

LYNETTEHow could this happen? Who would do something so terrible?

The wedding planner calls the emergency services while other workers use available fire extinguishers from a safe distance. Guests move away from the danger.

Lynette stands frozen, tears streaming down her face. Then she notices Bethany standing near the edge of the crowd. Bethany is trying to look innocent.

Their eyes meet. For one brief second, Bethany’s expression reveals something she cannot hide. Lynette notices it. Her sadness begins to turn into suspicion.

Scene 06 — The First Accusation

CUT TO: EXT. WEDDING VENUE – MOMENTS LATER

The flames begin to diminish as the emergency response continues. Smoke hangs over the garden. The magnificent stage is badly damaged. Blackened flowers, broken decorations, and twisted pieces of the frame lie scattered across the ground.

Lynette slowly approaches the safe perimeter. She stares at the ruined stage. Her hands tremble.

LYNETTEMy son’s wedding…

She covers her mouth, trying to hold back a sob.

LYNETTEI wanted everything to be beautiful for him. I wanted him to walk onto that stage and feel how much he is loved.

She looks at the ruined decorations.

LYNETTEWhy would anyone take that happiness away from us?

Bethany approaches cautiously.

BETHANYLynette, are you all right?

Lynette turns toward her. Her eyes are red, but her expression is suddenly sharp.

LYNETTEDon’t pretend to care about me.
BETHANYWhat are you talking about? I came here to help.

Lynette steps closer, keeping a safe distance from the damaged stage.

LYNETTEI saw you looking at the decorations earlier. And when the fire started, you were standing right there.
BETHANYAre you accusing me of something? There were dozens of people here!
LYNETTEThen explain why you look so calm while everyone else is terrified.

Bethany’s smile fades.

BETHANYYou’re upset. I understand that. But don’t take your anger out on me.

Lynette stares at her, searching her face.

LYNETTEMy anger? You think this is just anger?

She gestures toward the ruined stage.

LYNETTEI spent weeks planning this wedding. I chose every flower, every light, every decoration. I did all of this for my son!
LYNETTEAnd now look at what has happened!

Bethany looks away.

LYNETTELook at me when I’m talking to you!

Bethany slowly raises her eyes. Lynette’s face is filled with pain and fury.

LYNETTEIf you know anything about this fire, you had better tell me the truth.

The emergency responders continue checking the area while guests gather at a safe distance. The wedding planner approaches Lynette.

WEDDING PLANNERMrs. Lynette, the immediate danger is being handled. Everyone needs to remain away from the damaged structure.

Lynette nods, barely listening. Her attention remains fixed on Bethany.

WEDDING PLANNERDo you know what caused the fire?

Lynette takes a shaky breath.

LYNETTEI don’t know everything yet. But I am going to find out.

Bethany shifts uneasily.

BETHANYThis is ridiculous. You have no proof that I did anything.

Lynette turns toward her.

LYNETTEThen you shouldn’t be afraid of the truth.
BETHANYYou can’t blame me just because something went wrong.
LYNETTESomething went wrong? My son’s wedding stage was deliberately set on fire!

Her voice echoes through the quieting venue. Several guests turn to look at them.

LYNETTEIf you had anything to do with this, you have destroyed more than decorations. You have tried to destroy a day my family will never get back.

Bethany takes a step backward.

BETHANYYou don’t understand what I’ve been going through.
LYNETTEThen explain it to me! Tell me what your suffering has to do with my son’s wedding!

Bethany opens her mouth, but no words come out. For the first time, she appears genuinely shaken. Lynette watches her closely.

LYNETTEI gave you the chance to speak honestly. Don’t make me regret it.

Bethany looks around at the watching guests. Her eyes become wet, but her expression remains defensive.

BETHANYYou always think you’re better than everyone else.

Lynette shakes her head in disbelief.

LYNETTEThis was never about being better than anyone. It was about my son. It was about giving him a beautiful beginning to his married life.

She looks back at the ruined stage.

LYNETTEAnd you have turned it into a nightmare.
