Amber Had No Idea What She Was About to Discover
He had only come to the airport to pick Amber up. But Amber had no idea that within a few minutes, she would come face-to-face with someone she never expected to see.
And the strangest part was that Dave wasn’t acting like a man who was simply picking up an old friend.
Something was being kept from her.
1. The Airport Pickup
Amber stepped out of the airport with her travel bag in one hand and her phone in the other. She looked around the crowded entrance, searching for Dave.
A few moments later, she spotted him standing near the parking area. Dave waved when he saw her, and Amber walked toward him with a small smile.
“You finally made it,” Dave said as he reached for her luggage.
“Yes,” Amber replied. “You said you needed to meet me, so I came.”
Dave nodded, but something about his expression felt different. He looked distracted, almost nervous.
Amber noticed it immediately.
Dave forced a smile.
Amber didn’t argue. She picked up her smaller bag and followed him toward the car.
2. A Drive Full of Questions
The moment they left the airport, Amber expected Dave to explain why he had asked her to come.
Instead, Dave kept his eyes on the road.
The silence became uncomfortable.
Amber finally broke it.
Amber looked at him in surprise.
Dave paused before answering.
That answer only made Amber more suspicious.
She looked out the window as the city passed by. She tried to convince herself that Dave probably had a simple explanation.
But deep down, she felt something was wrong.
3. Someone Was Waiting
After several minutes, Dave pulled into the parking area of his apartment building.
Amber stepped out of the car and looked toward the entrance.
Dave grabbed her luggage and started walking.
Amber followed him.
The closer they got to the apartment, the more confused she became. Dave wasn’t saying anything.
Finally, he opened the door.
Amber took one step forward.
Then the door opened wider.
Evelyn walked out.
Amber froze.
For a few seconds, nobody said anything.
Evelyn looked just as surprised to see Amber.
Dave stood between them, completely silent.
4. Amber Controls Her Anger
Amber could have immediately started shouting.
She could have demanded answers.
But instead, she took a slow breath and controlled herself.
She looked directly at Dave.
Dave opened his mouth, but no words came out.
Amber then looked at Evelyn.
Her expression was calm, but the disappointment in her eyes was impossible to hide.
Dave looked down for a moment.
“Amber, I was going to explain everything.”
The hallway became completely silent.
Evelyn watched Dave carefully, as if she already knew that the next few words could change everything.
5. Evelyn Knows Something
Dave finally looked at Amber.
Amber gave a quiet, almost emotionless smile.
Dave hesitated again.
Before he could answer, Evelyn stepped forward.
She looked at Amber with a serious expression.
Amber’s expression suddenly changed.
“What truth?”
Evelyn looked toward Dave.
Dave immediately shook his head.
Amber noticed the reaction.
Now she knew this wasn’t a simple meeting.
Something much bigger was happening behind her back.
6. The Question Nobody Wanted to Answer
Amber slowly placed her bag on the floor.
She didn’t leave.
She didn’t scream.
She simply stood there and waited.
Dave looked nervous.
Evelyn remained quiet for several seconds.
Finally, she looked at Amber and said,
Amber’s eyes narrowed.
Evelyn took a breath.
Dave suddenly stepped forward.
But Amber didn’t move.
She knew that whatever Evelyn was about to reveal, Dave had been trying to keep it away from her.
7. The Truth Was About to Come Out
Evelyn looked at Dave one final time.
Then she turned toward Amber.
“Amber… there’s a reason Dave didn’t want you to know I was here.”
Amber’s face became completely still.
Dave suddenly said,
But Evelyn didn’t stop.
She was finally ready to reveal the secret.
Amber looked from Evelyn to Dave, waiting for the answer that could change everything she thought she knew.
And just as Evelyn began to speak…
The door behind them suddenly opened.
Someone else was standing there.
