The Promise Amber Once Made

The luxury house was unusually quiet that evening. Outside the enormous glass windows, city lights shimmered across the dark sky while the warm lights inside the house created an atmosphere that almost felt peaceful.

But inside, something was about to explode.

Dave walked into the living room carrying his phone. His expression immediately told Amber that this wasn’t going to be an ordinary conversation.

Amber looked up from the sofa. “What’s wrong?”

Dave didn’t answer immediately. He placed his phone on the table and stared directly at her.

“I want to talk about Anthony.”

Amber’s expression changed the moment she heard her old boyfriend’s name.

Dave reminded her of the conversations they had during the difficult period when Amber was preparing to divorce Anthony. At that time, Amber had told Dave that she wasn’t planning to leave the marriage without receiving a significant portion of the assets.

Dave had believed her. He had trusted that Amber was protecting her future.

But now, according to Dave, everything had suddenly changed.

The 10% Deal

Dave picked up his phone and showed Amber the information he had been looking at. His voice was controlled, but his frustration was obvious.

“You’re negotiating with Anthony for ten percent.”

Amber sighed.

“Things are different now, Dave.”

“Different?” Dave asked. “You told me you were going after forty or fifty percent. You said you weren’t going to let Anthony keep everything.”

Amber stood up slowly.

“I changed my mind.”

Dave stared at her.

“You changed your mind and now you’re willing to accept ten percent?”

Amber tried to explain that she wanted the divorce to end without another massive confrontation. She said she was tired of fighting with Anthony and wanted to move forward with her life.

But Dave wasn’t convinced.

“This isn’t just about Anthony anymore,” he said. “It’s about everything I’ve done for you.”

Dave Brings Up The House

Dave’s voice became sharper.

He looked around the living room, pointing toward the expensive furniture and the home Amber was standing in.

“I put this house in your name.”

Amber immediately looked at him.

“I know.”

“And I did it because I trusted you,” Dave continued. “I wanted you to have security. I wanted you to know that we were building something together.”

Amber’s voice became defensive.

“So now you’re using the house against me?”

“That’s not what I’m saying.”

“Then what are you saying?”

Dave stepped closer.

“I’m saying I don’t understand why you were willing to fight Anthony for half of everything before, but now you’re suddenly willing to walk away with ten percent.”

Amber looked away.

The Argument Explodes

“What aren’t you telling me?” Dave asked.

Amber’s patience finally disappeared.

“I’m not hiding anything!”

“Then explain it!”

“I don’t have to explain every decision I make!”

Dave shook his head.

“You do when that decision affects everything we planned.”

Amber crossed her arms.

“This is my divorce. My decision. My life.”

Dave’s expression hardened.

“And what about everything I sacrificed for you?”

“I never asked you to do all of that!”

The words hit Dave hard.

For several seconds, the room became completely silent.

Dave looked at Amber as though he was seeing her differently.

“Maybe that’s the problem,” he finally said. “Maybe I trusted you more than I should have.”

Amber grabbed her purse.

“I’m done with this conversation.”

Dave Makes A Shocking Decision

Amber walked toward the hallway.

Dave’s voice stopped her.

“Where are you going?”

“I’m leaving.”

Dave pointed toward the front door.

“Then leave.”

Amber turned around in disbelief.

“What did you just say?”

“If you don’t trust me enough to tell me what’s really happening with Anthony, then I don’t know why you should stay here.”

Amber’s eyes widened.

“You’re kicking me out?”

Dave opened the door.

“I’m asking you to leave.”

Amber stood at the doorway, hurt and furious.

“After everything?”

Dave didn’t respond.

Amber finally stepped outside.

The Message That Changes The Night

Amber stood outside the house, trying to control her emotions.

She reached for her phone.

Suddenly, a notification appeared from an unknown number.

Amber opened it.

Amber’s face went completely still.

She looked back toward the house.

Dave was still standing inside the doorway.

He was watching her.

Amber quickly locked her phone.

Dave noticed.

“Who was that?”

“Nobody.”

Dave narrowed his eyes.

“Amber, don’t lie to me.”

Before Amber could respond, another notification appeared.

This time, there was an attachment.

Amber opened the message.

Her expression immediately changed.

She had just received something that appeared to connect Anthony’s divorce deal to a secret she had never told Dave.

Amber Finally Reveals A Clue

Dave stepped outside.

“What did Anthony offer you?”

Amber remained silent.

Dave asked again.

“Why did you suddenly agree to ten percent?”

Amber looked down at the phone in her hand.

Her eyes were filled with fear and uncertainty.

“Dave…”

“What?”

Amber took a deep breath.

“The ten percent isn’t what you think.”

Dave stared at her.

“Then what is it?”

“Anthony made me an offer before the divorce agreement was finalized.”

Dave’s expression changed.

The vehicle’s door slowly opened.

Dave looked from the vehicle back to Amber.
