The courtroom was unusually quiet as everyone waited for the judge to deliver the final decision. Anthony sat calmly, but the tension on his face showed how much the case had affected him. For days, Amber had tried to convince everyone that Anthony had done something wrong.

Amber believed she had built a strong case against him. She had also spoken privately with Shayla and tried to convince her that Anthony had betrayed her by giving D’Nisha a BMW.

But when the judge finally announced the decision, everything changed.

Anthony slowly stood up. He looked toward Amber, expecting anger or another argument. Instead, Amber looked completely shocked.

Anthony walked out of the courtroom. For the first time in weeks, he felt that he could finally breathe again.

Outside the courthouse, Anthony saw Amber standing near the entrance. She looked at him as if she was waiting for him to say something.

Anthony stopped in front of her.

“You really thought this was going to work?” he asked.

Amber didn’t answer.

Anthony continued, “Look at what happened. You tried to play your own game, and now you’ve lost.”

Amber’s expression hardened.

“You think this is over?” she asked.

Anthony looked directly at her.

“No. I think you’re about to realize what you started.”

Before Amber could respond, two police officers approached her.

Amber’s eyes widened. She immediately started asking why she was being arrested. But the officers already had information connected to the accusations and statements surrounding the case.

Anthony stepped away as the officers took control of the situation.

Amber suddenly looked toward Shayla, who had been standing nearby.

“Shayla! Tell them the truth!” Amber shouted.

Everyone expected Shayla to support Amber.

But Shayla walked forward and said something that shocked everyone.

“I don’t have anything against Anthony.”

Anthony turned toward her.

Shayla continued, “I never wanted to file a case against him.”

Amber stared at her in disbelief.

“You said you would!” Amber shouted.

Shayla shook her head.

“You convinced me that Anthony was doing something wrong. You told me that he was giving D’Nisha a BMW and that I was being treated unfairly.”

She paused before continuing.

“But that wasn’t the truth.”

Shayla explained that Anthony had already given her money. It was her birthday, and Anthony had given her money as a gift. She wasn’t angry with him, and she didn’t want to accuse him of something he hadn’t done.

Amber’s face turned red with anger.

“You’re changing your story because you’re scared!” she shouted.

Shayla calmly replied, “No. I’m telling the truth because I don’t want to be part of your plan anymore.”

Amber looked at the officers.

Then she turned back toward Shayla.

“You promised me! You told me Anthony was wrong! You said you would stand beside me!”

Shayla answered, “I believed you. That’s different.”

The officers began moving Amber toward the police vehicle.

But Amber suddenly pulled away and tried to move toward Shayla.

The officers immediately stopped her.

“Don’t touch her!” one officer warned.

Amber continued shouting at Shayla.

“You’re the one who’s leaving me to take the blame!”

Shayla stepped back.

“You made your own choices, Amber.”

Anthony had been listening carefully to everything Shayla said. One thing continued to bother him—the BMW.

He had given D’Nisha the BMW because he wanted to. But Amber had made the vehicle the center of her accusations.

Anthony looked at Shayla.

“Why did Amber care so much about that car?”

Shayla became quiet.

“I don’t know,” she finally said.

Anthony noticed the hesitation in her voice.

“You’re sure?”

Shayla looked away.

Before she could answer, one of the officers approached Anthony.

“There’s something you should see.”

The officer showed Anthony a phone that had been recovered during the investigation.

Anthony looked at the screen.

There were several messages between Amber and an unknown person. At first, Anthony couldn’t understand why the conversation mattered.

Then he saw one particular message.

Anthony’s expression immediately changed.

Shayla noticed.

“What does it say?” she asked.

Anthony didn’t answer.

He read the message again.

The BMW wasn’t simply a gift anymore. Someone else appeared to know something about the car—and that person had been communicating with Amber.

Anthony slowly looked toward Amber.

She was already sitting inside the police vehicle.

But when she saw Anthony holding the phone, her expression changed.

The police vehicle door was about to close when Amber suddenly looked directly at Anthony.

“Anthony!”

He walked a few steps closer.

Amber didn’t scream this time.

She didn’t argue.

Instead, she looked frightened.

“You think you won because you won the case,” she said quietly.

Anthony stared at her.

“What are you talking about?”

Amber looked toward Shayla, then back at Anthony.

The police officer closed the door.

Anthony stood there in silence.

Shayla walked toward him.

“What did she mean?”

Anthony looked down at the phone again.

“I don’t know yet.”

He looked at the BMW message one more time.

The courtroom case was finished. Amber was under arrest. Shayla had refused to accuse Anthony. D’Nisha still had the BMW Anthony had given her.

But now Anthony had a completely different question.

Anthony had won the case… but the truth behind the BMW could open an entirely new chapter.
