jnd ) Bethany Left Larry for Her Ex, Jesse—But One Shocking Secret Could Destroy Their Wedding!

Larry, Bethany, Charlotte, and Jesse:
The Wedding That Could Destroy Everything
ONE DECISION, TWO BROKEN HEARTS
SCENE 1: BETHANY LEAVES WITHOUT A WORD
Early morning. Larry and Bethany’s home is unusually quiet. Sunlight slips through the curtains, illuminating the empty space beside Larry’s bed.
Larry slowly opens his eyes and reaches for Bethany, expecting to find her beside him. Instead, his hand touches an empty pillow.
He sits up, confused.
LARRY: Bethany? Are you awake?
There is no answer.
Larry walks into the bathroom, checks the kitchen, and looks around the living room. Her purse is missing, and several of her belongings have disappeared from their usual places.
He takes out his phone and calls her. The call rings, but Bethany does not answer.
LARRY: Come on, Bethany. At least tell me where you are.
He sends her a message.
LARRY: I woke up and couldn’t find you. If you’re upset with me, we can talk about it. Please call me.
Larry stares at the screen, waiting for the message to be read. Nothing happens.
His expression changes from confusion to worry. He remembers their recent arguments, their unfinished conversations, and the way Bethany had become distant during the past few days.
He wonders whether she has finally reached a point where she no longer wants to be with him.
But Larry refuses to believe that she would leave without saying goodbye.
LARRY: You wouldn’t just disappear like this. Not without telling me what’s wrong.
He looks toward the front door, hoping she will walk through it.
He has no idea that Bethany is already miles away, sitting in Charlotte’s living room and discussing a decision that could end their relationship forever.
SCENE 2: CHARLOTTE’S UNEXPECTED ADVICE
Later that morning. Charlotte’s house.
Bethany sits on the couch with a cup of coffee in her hands. Her eyes are tired, and her face reveals that she has barely slept.
Charlotte sits beside her, watching her carefully.
CHARLOTTE: You look like someone who has been carrying too much pain for too long.
BETHANY: I don’t even know what I’m doing anymore. Everything with Larry has become so complicated. Sometimes I feel like I’m trying to save a relationship that only I care about.
CHARLOTTE: Then why are you still trying so hard?
Bethany looks down at her coffee.
BETHANY: Because I love him. At least, I think I still do. But lately, I don’t know whether love is enough.
Charlotte leans forward.
CHARLOTTE: Let me ask you something. When was the last time Larry made you feel completely certain that you were the woman he wanted to spend his life with?
Bethany remains silent. Charlotte takes her silence as an answer.
CHARLOTTE: You deserve someone who doesn’t make you question your place in his life. Someone who knows what he wants.
BETHANY: Relationships aren’t that simple, Charlotte. Larry and I have been through so much together.
CHARLOTTE: And how much longer are you willing to suffer because of everything you’ve already been through?
Bethany’s eyes fill with tears. Charlotte gently takes her hand.
CHARLOTTE: Sometimes, we hold on to someone because we’re afraid of starting over. We convince ourselves that the past we’ve built together is more important than the future we’re losing.
Bethany slowly raises her eyes.
BETHANY: What are you trying to tell me?
Charlotte pauses before giving her answer.
CHARLOTTE: I’m telling you to think about Jesse.
Bethany freezes. The name brings back memories she has tried for years to put behind her.
BETHANY: Jesse? Why would you bring him into this?
CHARLOTTE: Because I remember how you were when you were with him. You were happier. You didn’t spend every night wondering whether someone still wanted you.
BETHANY: That was a long time ago. Jesse and I broke up for a reason.
CHARLOTTE: Maybe you broke up because neither of you was ready. People change, Bethany. Sometimes, the person we lose is the person we should have never let go.
Bethany gets up and walks toward the window.
She wants to dismiss Charlotte’s suggestion, but the thought of Jesse has already awakened feelings she believed were gone.
For the first time since leaving Larry’s house, she begins to wonder whether walking away from her current relationship might be easier than trying to repair it.
SCENE 3: A NAME FROM THE PAST
Afternoon. Charlotte’s living room.
Charlotte returns with her phone and sits beside Bethany.
CHARLOTTE: I haven’t told you something. Jesse asked about you recently.
Bethany turns around immediately.
BETHANY: He did? When?
CHARLOTTE: A few days ago. He wanted to know whether you were happy. He didn’t ask me to interfere in your relationship, but I could tell that he still cared.
BETHANY: Why didn’t you tell me earlier?
CHARLOTTE: Because you were with Larry. I didn’t want to complicate your life.
Charlotte unlocks her phone and shows Bethany a recent photograph of Jesse. He looks confident, mature, and different from the man Bethany remembers.
She studies the photograph longer than she intends to.
BETHANY: He looks different.
CHARLOTTE: He is different. And from what I understand, he isn’t seeing anyone seriously.
Bethany hands the phone back, trying to hide her reaction.
BETHANY: Even if he still has feelings for me, that doesn’t mean we can simply start again.
CHARLOTTE: No one is asking you to pretend the past never happened. But you could at least talk to him.
Bethany sits down again.
BETHANY: And what about Larry?
CHARLOTTE: You left his house because something inside you told you that you couldn’t continue like this. Don’t ignore that feeling just because you’re afraid of hurting him.
The words settle heavily between them.
Bethany thinks about all the times she waited for Larry to understand her feelings. She remembers the promises they made and the future they once imagined together.
Then she thinks about Jesse, the memories they shared, and the possibility of being loved differently.
Finally, she looks at Charlotte.
BETHANY: If I speak to Jesse, I need to know that I’m not making another mistake.
CHARLOTTE: Then don’t make a decision out of fear. Make one because you genuinely believe it is what you want.
Bethany takes a deep breath. She asks Charlotte for Jesse’s number.
Charlotte gives it to her without another word.
SCENE 4: LARRY’S FEAR GROWS
Meanwhile. Larry’s home.
Larry sits at the dining table, staring at his phone.
He has called Bethany several times, but every attempt has ended without an answer. He has also sent messages to ask whether she is safe.
He finally calls Charlotte.
Charlotte’s phone begins to ring in the living room. She glances at the screen. It is Larry.
Bethany looks at her, startled.
BETHANY: Don’t tell him I’m here.
CHARLOTTE: Bethany, he deserves to know that you’re safe.
BETHANY: I’m not ready to talk to him. If he hears your voice, he’ll start asking questions.
Charlotte hesitates, then answers the call.
CHARLOTTE: Hello, Larry.
LARRY: Charlotte, thank goodness. Have you spoken to Bethany?
CHARLOTTE: Why are you asking me?
LARRY: Because she’s gone. Her things are missing, and she isn’t answering her phone. I thought she might have come to see you.
Charlotte looks toward Bethany, who is standing a few steps away.
CHARLOTTE: She’s an adult, Larry. Maybe she needs some time to think.
LARRY: So you do know something.
Charlotte closes her eyes briefly.
CHARLOTTE: I didn’t say that.
LARRY: Charlotte, please. I’m not trying to control her. I just need to know she’s okay.
For a moment, Charlotte appears troubled. But she chooses her words carefully.
CHARLOTTE: Give her some space. If she wants to speak to you, she’ll call.
The call ends. Larry lowers his phone.
He knows Charlotte is hiding something. He can hear it in the pauses between her words.
LARRY: Why would Charlotte tell me to give Bethany space if she didn’t know where she was?
He immediately calls Bethany again.
This time, he hears the phone ringing somewhere nearby. He looks around his empty house, then realizes the sound is coming from a memory of a conversation he had with her earlier that week.
He remembers Bethany mentioning that she felt trapped and needed to make a decision about their future.
His stomach tightens.
For the first time, Larry wonders whether Bethany hasn’t simply left the house.
Perhaps she has left him.
SCENE 5: BETHANY MAKES HER DECISION
Evening. Charlotte’s house.
Bethany sits alone in the guest bedroom, holding her phone. Jesse’s number is open on the screen.
She types a message, deletes it, and tries again. Finally, she sends a simple greeting.
A few moments later, her phone lights up. Jesse has replied.
JESSE: Bethany? I wasn’t expecting to hear from you. Is everything okay?
Bethany smiles faintly, but tears gather in her eyes.
BETHANY: I’m going through a diffi
