jnd ) D’Nisha Is Tired of Anthony’s Excuses, and Shayla Is Ready for a Fight Over Kai!

D’NISHA, ANTHONY, AND SHAYLA: A FIGHT OVER KAI ONE CHILD, TWO WOMEN, AND A MAN CAUGHT IN THE MIDDLE
Anthony thought he could keep both women satisfied with promises, but he was about to discover that words meant nothing when it was time to take action. D’Nisha wanted him to bring his son, Kai, into their home. Shayla, his ex-wife and Kai’s mother, was determined not to let that happen without a fight. And Anthony, caught between his current wife and the mother of his child, was running out of excuses.
But what Anthony didn’t realize was that this argument was about to become much bigger than anyone expected. D’Nisha was tired of being disappointed, Shayla refused to back down, and Kai was at the center of a battle that could destroy the fragile peace between them all.
By the time the truth began to surface, Anthony might wish he had never made the promise that started everything.
SCENE 1 — THE ARGUMENT AT HOME
INT. ANTHONY AND D’NISHA’S HOUSE — DAYThe living room was quiet until D’Nisha walked in, holding her phone. Her expression was serious, and her patience had clearly reached its limit.
Anthony sat on the couch, scrolling through his phone as though he had nothing to worry about.
D’Nisha stopped in front of him.
D’NISHA: So, what’s the plan, Anthony? Because I’m tired of hearing the same story over and over again.
ANTHONY: What are you talking about now?
D’NISHA: Don’t do that. You know exactly what I’m talking about. Your son, Kai. When are you going to bring him here?
ANTHONY: I already told you I’m working on it.
D’NISHA: Working on it? That’s all you ever say. You’re always working on something, but nothing ever gets done.
ANTHONY: You act like I don’t want my own son around me.
D’NISHA: Then prove it! You talk like you can handle everything, but the moment it’s time to do something, suddenly you have a hundred excuses.
Anthony stood up from the couch.
ANTHONY: Watch how you talk to me.
D’NISHA: Or what? You’re going to make another promise you can’t keep?
The question hit Anthony harder than he wanted to admit.
He looked away for a moment, trying to control his frustration.
ANTHONY: I’m his father. I have every right to want him with me.
D’NISHA: Then stop acting like you need Shayla’s permission to even have a conversation about your own child.
ANTHONY: You don’t understand how things are with Shayla.
D’NISHA: No, Anthony. I understand perfectly. She knows exactly how to push your buttons, and you let her do it every single time.
D’NISHA: You can stand in this house and tell me how you’re going to handle everything. But when you’re standing in front of Shayla, all that confidence disappears.
Anthony clenched his jaw. He wanted to argue, but the words wouldn’t come as easily as they usually did.
SCENE 2 — ANTHONY MAKES A PROMISE
INT. ANTHONY AND D’NISHA’S HOUSE — MOMENTS LATERD’Nisha turned away, shaking her head.
D’NISHA: I’m not going to keep having this conversation with you. Either you do something about the situation, or stop telling me that you will.
Anthony followed her toward the kitchen.
ANTHONY: You think I’m scared of Shayla?
D’NISHA: I think you’re more worried about upsetting her than you are about making things right for yourself.
ANTHONY: That’s not true.
D’NISHA: Then show me.
Anthony took a deep breath. His pride was now mixed with anger, and he felt as though he had something to prove.
ANTHONY: Fine. I’ll go talk to her today.
D’NISHA: And what exactly are you going to tell her?
ANTHONY: I’m going to tell her that Kai needs to spend more time with his father. I’m going to tell her that I’m tired of this situation, and I want my son around me.
D’NISHA: And if she says no?
ANTHONY: Then we’ll figure it out.
D’NISHA: There it is again. Another answer that doesn’t actually answer anything.
ANTHONY: What do you want me to say? That I’m going to bring him home? Fine! I’ll bring Kai home. Are you happy now?
D’Nisha stared at him. For a moment, neither of them spoke.
D’NISHA: I don’t want you to say what you think I want to hear. I want you to do what you keep promising me you’ll do.
Anthony grabbed his keys from the counter.
ANTHONY: You’ll see.
He walked toward the door with determination written across his face.
But underneath that confidence was a question he refused to ask himself.
WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF SHAYLA REFUSED?
SCENE 3 — SHAYLA IS NOT IMPRESSED
INT. SHAYLA’S HOUSE — AFTERNOONShayla was in the living room when she heard a knock at the door. She opened it and immediately noticed Anthony’s serious expression.
SHAYLA: What do you want, Anthony?
ANTHONY: Can I come inside?
Shayla hesitated before stepping aside.
SHAYLA: Make it quick. I have things to do.
Anthony walked into the living room. He looked around, but his attention quickly returned to Shayla.
ANTHONY: We need to talk about Kai.
SHAYLA: I figured that was why you came.
ANTHONY: I want him to spend more time with me. He’s my son, too, and I’m tired of feeling like I have to fight just to be part of his life.
SHAYLA: Nobody is stopping you from being his father. But being his father means more than showing up when you feel like making a point.
ANTHONY: Here we go. Every time I bring something up, you turn it into an argument about me.
SHAYLA: Because you keep making this about what you want instead of what Kai needs.
ANTHONY: I know what my son needs.
SHAYLA: Do you?
The room fell silent. Shayla looked directly at him, refusing to let his confidence intimidate her.
SHAYLA: You want me to hand Kai over because you and D’Nisha have decided that’s what you want. But have either of you stopped to think about whether this arrangement is actually good for him?
ANTHONY: Leave my wife out of this.
SHAYLA: I would love to. But she’s part of the reason we’re having this conversation.
ANTHONY: D’Nisha has nothing against Kai.
SHAYLA: I never said she did. I said I don’t trust the situation.
ANTHONY: So now I’m supposed to believe you’re doing all this for Kai?
SHAYLA: You don’t have to believe anything. I’m telling you that I’m his mother, and I’m going to make sure his needs come first.
Anthony stared at her. He had expected resistance, but he hadn’t expected her to challenge every argument he brought into the room.
