jnd ) Larry Files for Divorce From Bethany, While Rob Plans a Future With Her

The Divorce That Changed Everything
1. The Papers on the Table
For months, Larry and Bethany had been drifting further apart. Arguments about money, business, trust, and their future had turned their once-comfortable home into a place filled with tension.
That evening, Bethany was sitting at the kitchen table reviewing business paperwork when Larry walked through the front door holding a folder.
He didn’t say hello. He didn’t even take off his jacket.
“Larry, what’s wrong?” Bethany asked.
Larry placed the folder in front of her and slowly opened it.
“I think it’s time we stop pretending everything is okay.”
Bethany looked down at the documents. Her face immediately changed.
“Are these divorce papers?”
“Yes,” Larry answered.
Bethany couldn’t believe it. She pushed the papers away and told Larry she wasn’t signing anything that night.
“Not everything is what you think it is.”
2. Rob Walks Into the Storm
A short time later, Rob arrived to discuss business with Bethany. He immediately noticed that something was wrong.
“Bethany, are you okay?”
Bethany pointed toward the folder.
“Larry wants a divorce.”
Rob sat across from her and listened carefully.
“Maybe this is the beginning of something better.”
Bethany stared at him.
“What are you saying?”
Rob explained that Bethany had spent too much time trying to make Larry happy while forgetting about herself.
Then he added that sometimes the person standing beside you is the person you never expected.
Before Bethany could respond, Rob’s phone rang. He looked at the screen and suddenly became uncomfortable.
“No. She doesn’t know yet.”
3. Larry’s Secret Meeting
While Bethany questioned Rob, Larry was sitting alone inside his vehicle several miles away.
He wasn’t going home.
Larry had arranged a secret meeting because he had discovered something that changed everything.
A person suddenly entered the passenger seat and handed him an envelope.
“Did you get it?” Larry asked.
“Yes. Every word.”
Larry opened the envelope and studied the documents inside.
“So it’s true.”
He had suspected something was wrong for a long time. Now he finally had proof.
4. The Anonymous Message
The next morning, Bethany received a message from an unknown number.
“You need to ask Larry where he was last night.”
Bethany immediately called Larry.
“Where were you last night?”
Larry hesitated before answering.
“If you really want the truth, look inside the folder I gave you.”
The call ended.
Bethany rushed back to the table and opened the divorce folder. Beneath the legal papers was another envelope she hadn’t noticed before.
5. The Photographs
Bethany opened the envelope and found business records, financial documents, and several photographs.
She looked at the first photograph.
Her face went pale.
It showed Rob meeting someone she knew.
She quickly looked at another photograph. Then another.
Suddenly, Rob’s strange behavior started making sense. His phone calls. His secret conversations. His unusual interest in Bethany’s personal problems.
Rob hadn’t simply appeared in her life at the right moment.
He had been watching.
He had been waiting.
Before Bethany could process everything, her phone rang. It was Rob.
“Don’t trust Larry.”
Bethany froze.
“Because he hasn’t told you the whole story.”
“And neither have I.”
6. The Meeting Tonight
Later that day, Bethany received another message. This time, there was no name attached to it.
“Meet me tonight if you want to know why Larry filed for divorce.”
Bethany stared at the screen.
She knew meeting an unknown person could be dangerous, but the questions surrounding Larry and Rob were becoming impossible to ignore.
Why had Larry suddenly filed for divorce? Why had he been investigating Rob? Who was the person appearing in the photographs? And why did Rob seem to know more than he was admitting?
Bethany grabbed her purse.
Before leaving, she looked at the divorce papers one more time.
7. The Truth Is Waiting
Bethany arrived at the meeting location just after sunset. The parking lot was almost empty.
She stepped out of her car and looked around. Then she noticed a vehicle parked across the street.
Its headlights suddenly turned on.
Bethany’s phone vibrated.
“Don’t get out of your car.”
Bethany looked toward the vehicle. Someone was sitting inside.
“Larry filed for divorce to protect you.”
Bethany’s eyes widened.
Before she could read another message, a second vehicle slowly pulled into the parking lot.
Bethany recognized it immediately.
It was Rob.
He stepped out and looked directly at her.
But then another person stepped out of the first vehicle.
Bethany couldn’t believe who she was seeing.
She suddenly understood why Larry had been keeping secrets.
The divorce wasn’t really about ending a marriage. It was about protecting Bethany from a secret that had been hidden right in front of her.
And now that secret was finally coming to light.
