jnd ) Larry Found Birth Control Papers in Brooke’s Car… But Who Was She Hiding?

Larry thought he was simply taking Brooke’s car to get cleaned. He never imagined that a few papers left inside would lead to an argument that could tear his family apart—and reveal a secret nobody was prepared for.
[The Papers Larry Was Never Supposed to See]
Larry walked through the front door that evening with a completely different expression than usual. He was tired, frustrated, and clearly angry.
Bethany was sitting quietly in the living room when she noticed him. She immediately knew something was wrong.
Larry didn’t even sit down.
“Where is Brooke?” he asked.
Bethany looked toward the hallway.
“She’s in her room.”
Larry walked toward the bedroom and called out, “Brooke!”
Brooke opened the door a few seconds later.
“What happened?” she asked.
Larry held several papers in his hand.
“I took your car to get cleaned today,” he said. “While I was there, I found these.”
Brooke looked at the papers and immediately became uncomfortable.
[Why Were These Papers in Your Car?]
Larry raised the papers.
“What are these, Brooke? Why are there birth-control documents, medication information, and an injection mentioned here?”
Brooke took a slow breath.
“Larry, it’s personal.”
“Personal?” Larry repeated. “I found them in your car. Of course I’m going to ask you about them.”
“I wasn’t doing anything wrong.”
“Then tell me what happened.”
Brooke looked away.
“I’m in a relationship. You already know that.”
Larry stared at her.
“And what exactly does that have to do with these papers?”
Brooke answered quietly, “I don’t want children right now. I want to focus on myself and my relationship. These are decisions I’m allowed to make.”
Larry didn’t respond immediately.
Then he asked, “Who were you with?”
Brooke looked confused.
“What do you mean?”
“Who went with you? Who knows about this?”
“Larry, you’re making this bigger than it is.”
[The Argument Gets Worse]
Larry’s frustration continued to rise.
“You keep saying it’s private, but every time I ask a question, there’s another secret.”
Brooke shook her head.
“There are things in a relationship that don’t need to become family drama.”
That sentence pushed the argument even further.
Larry lost his temper and struck Brooke across the face.
Brooke stood silently, shocked by what had happened.
Larry immediately pointed toward the hallway.
“Pack your things.”
Brooke looked at him.
“You’re kicking me out?”
“Yes. I don’t want you staying here anymore.”
Brooke’s expression changed from shock to anger.
“You don’t even know the whole story.”
“Then maybe you should have told me before I found these papers myself.”
Brooke turned around and walked back into her room.
[Bethany Heard Everything]
Bethany had heard most of the argument from the living room.
When Brooke came out carrying a bag, Bethany was standing near the doorway.
“So you’re leaving?” Bethany asked.
Brooke continued walking.
“Yes.”
Bethany crossed her arms.
“After everything that happened, you still won’t explain what those papers were about?”
Brooke stopped.
“I’m already dealing with enough, Bethany.”
“I’m just saying what everyone else is thinking.”
Brooke turned around.
“No. You’re making assumptions because you always think you know everything.”
Bethany looked toward Larry.
“See? This is exactly why I’ve been upset with her.”
[Larry Finally Had Enough]
Larry walked into the hallway.
“Both of you, stop.”
Bethany looked surprised.
“Larry, I’m only trying to—”
“I said stop.”
He looked exhausted.
“I’m tired of these arguments. I’m tired of everyone blaming each other. I just want peace in this house.”
Bethany became quiet.
“So now I’m the problem too?”
“I didn’t say that.”
“You didn’t have to.”
Larry pointed toward the hallway.
“Please just go to your room.”
Bethany stared at him before finally walking away.
[Brooke Walks Out With a Secret]
Brooke picked up her last bag and walked toward the front door.
Larry watched her silently.
Just before she stepped outside, Brooke stopped.
“Larry.”
He looked at her.
“What?”
Brooke looked directly at him.
“The papers you found aren’t the whole story.”
Larry frowned.
“What does that mean?”
Brooke hesitated.
“It means you should look at the last page.”
Larry looked down at the papers.
“Why?”
Brooke opened the door.
“Because there’s a name on it that you haven’t asked me about yet.”
Larry’s face changed.
“Whose name?”
Brooke didn’t answer.
She walked outside and closed the door behind her.
[The Name on the Last Page]
Larry immediately looked through the papers again.
He reached the final page.
His eyes stopped on a name.
It wasn’t Brooke’s name.
It wasn’t the name of the person Larry thought Brooke was seeing either.
Larry stared at the page in complete silence.
Upstairs, Bethany opened her bedroom door after hearing the silence.
“Larry? What did you find?”
Larry didn’t answer.
He simply kept staring at the name.
Then he whispered, “Who is this person?”
And for the first time that night, Larry realized that the papers weren’t the real secret.
The real secret was the person whose name appeared on that final page.
Larry slowly folded the papers.
But before he could take another step, his phone suddenly rang.
He looked at the screen.
The caller’s name was the same name he had just seen on the final page.
Larry froze.
Someone had just called him.
And whoever it was clearly knew that Larry had found the papers.
