THE NIGHT SHAILA WALKED AWAY
The engagement party was supposed to be a night of happiness.
But the moment Anthony slipped the ring onto D’Nisha’s finger,
Mike noticed something that no one else seemed to see.
Shaila was standing in the crowd.
Her face was frozen.
Her eyes were full of tears.
And Mike was about to discover that those tears were hiding

SCENE 1 — THE ENGAGEMENT
Music played softly across the beautifully decorated venue.
Warm lights hung above the guests as everyone gathered around
Anthony and D’Nisha.
Anthony stood beside D’Nisha and carefully placed the engagement
ring onto her finger.
D’NISHA
I can’t believe this is finally happening.
ANTHONY
You deserve this moment.
Everyone applauded.
Everyone except Shaila.
She stood several feet away from the crowd, staring at Anthony
with disbelief.
SCENE 2 — THE WOMAN NO ONE NOTICED
Shaila quietly stepped backward. She tried to hide her emotions
while the celebration continued around her.
A tear slowly rolled down her cheek.
SHAILA
I really thought things would be different.
She turned away and began walking toward the darkness outside
the venue.
Mike watched her leave.
Something inside him suddenly changed.
SCENE 3 — MIKE’S DECISION
Mike followed Shaila outside. The music became quieter behind
him.
MIKE
Shaila.
SHAILA
I’m fine.
MIKE
No, you’re not.
Mike looked at her with genuine concern.
MIKE
You shouldn’t have to walk through this alone.
SCENE 4 — THE OFFER
MIKE
If you ever need protection… someone to stand beside you…
I’ll be there.
Shaila stared at him through tear-filled eyes.
SHAILA
I don’t need your pity.
She looked down and noticed loose sand scattered beside the
walkway.
Slowly, Shaila bent down and grabbed a handful of sand.
SCENE 5 — THE SAND
Without warning, Shaila threw the sand toward Mike’s face.
MIKE
Whoa!
Mike immediately stepped backward and covered his eyes.
The joyful atmosphere suddenly became tense.
SHAILA
Because I don’t need anyone feeling sorry for me!
MIKE
That wasn’t why.
SHAILA
Then why?
MIKE
Because I care.
SCENE 6 — THE SECRET
SHAILA
There’s something you don’t know.
MIKE
What?
SHAILA
Anthony isn’t the only reason I was crying.
Before Shaila could explain, Anthony’s voice suddenly echoed
from the entrance.
ANTHONY
Shaila!
SCENE 7 — THE CONFRONTATION
ANTHONY
What is going on here?
SHAILA
Go back to your fiancée.
ANTHONY
You don’t know the whole story.
MIKE
Then tell me.
Anthony remained silent.
His expression suddenly became serious.
SCENE 8 — THE WARNING
Anthony’s phone suddenly rang.
He answered the call.
ANTHONY
Hello?
His expression changed instantly.
ANTHONY
You said nobody knew.
Shaila’s face turned pale.
ANTHONY
It’s too late.
Mike looked from Anthony to Shaila.
He finally realized that something much bigger was happening.
THE FINAL SECRET
Shaila grabbed Mike’s hand.
SHAILA
We have to leave.
Mike followed her toward the dark parking area.
Suddenly, a car stopped near them.
A stranger stepped out.
Shaila immediately recognized him.
MIKE
Who is that?
The stranger slowly walked toward them.
STRANGER
You were never supposed to tell him.
Mike stepped in front of Shaila.
The stranger reached into his jacket.
Then…
THE LIGHTS SUDDENLY WENT OUT.
SHAILA
We have to leave.
