The atmosphere inside the house suddenly became uncomfortable. Nobody knew what to say after Jade’s shocking confession. Bethany stood completely still, staring at Jade as if she had just heard something impossible.

Her heart was filled with anger, disappointment, and disbelief.

She had trusted Larry for so long. She had believed that their relationship was strong enough to survive any problem. But now, standing in front of her, was a woman openly declaring that she loved her husband.

Bethany slowly turned toward Larry. Her eyes were filled with questions.

BETHANY

Larry, is this really happening? Are you seriously going to stand there and pretend that you don’t know what she’s talking about?

LARRY

Bethany, please calm down. You’re misunderstanding everything. Let me explain what happened before you make any decisions.

BETHANY

Misunderstanding? You think I’m misunderstanding something? This woman just told me that she loves you and wants to marry you!

JADE

You heard me correctly. I love Larry, and I’m not going to hide my feelings anymore.

Bethany looked at Jade from head to toe, unable to understand how someone could walk into her life and openly challenge her marriage.

BETHANY

You have some serious nerve. You’re standing in my house, talking about marrying my husband. Do you even understand what you’re saying?

JADE

I understand exactly what I’m saying. Maybe you should ask Larry why he made me believe that we had a future together.

LARRY

Jade, that’s enough. This isn’t the right time to discuss all of this.

JADE

Why? Are you afraid Bethany might finally hear the truth?

Purnell, who had been quietly watching the argument, finally stepped forward. He couldn’t believe what was happening.

PURNELL

Hold on. I need somebody to explain what’s going on here. Jade, what exactly happened between you and my brother?

JADE

Your brother knows exactly what happened. He told me things that made me believe he was serious about me.

PURNELL

Larry, is that true?

Larry avoided his brother’s eyes. The silence was becoming more suspicious than any confession.

SCENE 2 — BETHANY LOSES CONTROL

Bethany couldn’t take it anymore. She had listened to enough excuses. Every time she asked Larry a question, he avoided giving her a straight answer.

BETHANY

You know what, Larry? I’m tired of listening to you. You’ve embarrassed me enough!

LARRY

Bethany, please. Don’t do anything you’re going to regret. We can talk about this privately.

BETHANY

Privately? You had no problem creating this mess behind my back. Why should we suddenly talk privately?

Bethany suddenly rushed toward Larry, raising her hand as if she wanted to hit him. But before she could reach him, Jade quickly grabbed her arm and pulled her away.

JADE

Don’t touch Larry!

BETHANY

What did you just say?

Jade stepped between them. Her expression was serious, and her voice became louder.

JADE

I said you cannot hurt Larry. I won’t let you touch him. I love Larry, and I’m going to marry him!

The entire room went silent. Purnell’s mouth dropped open. Larry looked as though he wanted the ground to swallow him.

BETHANY

You’re going to marry him? Are you listening to yourself? Larry is my husband!

JADE

Then maybe you should ask yourself why your husband made promises to another woman.

BETHANY

What promises, Larry? Tell me right now!

LARRY

I never said that I was leaving my marriage. Jade is taking things too far.

JADE

That’s not what you told me when we were alone. You said things were different between you and Bethany. You told me that eventually everything would work out.

BETHANY

So you were discussing our marriage with her? You were telling another woman about our problems?

Larry didn’t respond. His silence confirmed that something had happened.

SCENE 3 — PURNELL DEMANDS THE TRUTH

Purnell stepped closer to Larry. He was no longer interested in watching the argument. He wanted to know whether his brother had been lying to everyone.

PURNELL

Larry, look at me. I’m your brother. I need you to tell me the truth.

PURNELL

Did you promise Jade that you were going to marry her?

LARRY

Purnell, it’s complicated.

PURNELL

No, it’s not complicated! You’re married to Bethany, and Jade is standing here saying she’s going to become your wife. What could possibly be more straightforward than that?

JADE

I didn’t imagine everything, Purnell. Larry made me believe that I was important to him.

PURNELL

Jade, I thought you and I were building something together. I thought you were interested in me. Now you’re telling everybody that you want my brother?

JADE

I never wanted to hurt you. But I can’t pretend that my feelings for Larry don’t exist.

PURNELL

So what was I to you? Just somebody you could spend time with while waiting for Larry?

Jade didn’t answer immediately. That hesitation hurt Purnell more than anything she could have said.

PURNELL

I can’t believe this. I defended you, I trusted you, and I thought you were different.

LARRY

Purnell, don’t put all the blame on Jade. I made mistakes too.

BETHANY

At least you’re finally admitting something!

LARRY

I know I made you feel betrayed. But I never wanted things to reach this point.

BETHANY

You didn’t want this? Then why did you allow it to happen?

Larry had no answer.

SCENE 4 — JADE REVEALS LARRY’S PROMISE

Jade slowly reached into her handbag. Everyone watched her carefully. She pulled out her phone and began searching through her messages.

Larry’s face changed. He immediately recognized what she was looking for.

LARRY

Jade, don’t do that.

JADE

Why? Are you afraid of what Bethany might see?

LARRY

This is between us. You don’t need to show everybody our private conversations.

BETHANY

No. Show me. I want to see everything.

Jade unlocked her phone. She opened a conversation and held the screen where everyone could see it.

JADE

Look at this message. Larry told me that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. He said he was tired of pretending that everything in his marriage was perfect.

BETHANY

Larry, did you really send this?

LARRY

Yes, I sent it. But you need to understand the situation. I was frustrated, and I said things without thinking about the consequences.

JADE

Without thinking? You also told me that you were going to make a decision about our future.

LARRY

I never gave you a wedding date!

JADE

But you promised that we would be together!

Purnell moved away from them. He couldn’t believe his brother had allowed the situation to become this serious.

PURNELL

Larry, you’ve destroyed everybody’s trust. Bethany trusted you as her husband, and I trusted you as my brother.

Larry looked down. For the first time, he seemed to understand how much damage his actions had caused.

SCENE 5 — BETHANY’S HEARTBREAK

Bethany slowly sat down on the sofa. She looked at Larry, but the man standing in front of her suddenly felt like a stranger.

She remembered the good moments they had shared. She remembered the promises, the laughter, and the plans they had made together. Now, all those memories felt painful.

BETHANY

I always thought that if something was wrong between us, you would come to me. I never thought you would find another woman and make promises behind my back.

LARRY

Bethany, I know I hurt you. I wish I could take everything back.

BETHANY

Don’t come closer. I need you to understand something. You didn’t just hurt my feelings. You destroyed my trust.

JADE

Bethany, I know this is difficult for you. But I can’t keep pretending that Larry means nothing to me.

BETHANY

You keep saying that you love him. But have you ever stopped to think about what you’re doing to another woman?

Jade remained silent.

BETHANY

You want to marry my husband, but do you even know whether he wants to marry you? Or are you just believing everything he tells you?

LARRY

Bethany, that’s enough. Don’t turn this into something it isn’t.

BETHANY

Then tell me what it is, Larry!

Nobody spoke. The question remained unanswered.

SCENE 6 — PURNELL MAKES A FINAL WARNING

Purnell walked toward the door. He needed some space to think about everything he had just discovered.

PURNELL

I want you to answer one question. Did you ever genuinely care about me?

JADE

Yes, I did.

PURNELL

Then why didn’t you tell me about Larry before things went this far?

JADE

Because I was confused about my feelings.

PURNELL

You weren’t confused enough to accept my attention. But you were confused when it came to telling me the truth.

Jade didn’t respond.

PURNELL

And you, brother, need to decide what you want. You cannot keep giving people promises and expecting everybody to accept your excuses.

LARRY

I understand.

PURNELL

I don’t think you do. Because if you did, none of us would be standing here right now.

Purnell walked out. The sound of the door closing made the room feel even colder.

Bethany remained on the sofa. Larry stood nearby. Jade was still holding her phone.

Three people were now trapped in a situation that none of them could easily escape.

SCENE 7 — JADE’S LAST CONFESSION

After a long silence, Jade finally spoke again.

JADE

Larry, I think it’s time you tell Bethany everything.

LARRY

What are you talking about?

JADE

You know exactly what I’m talking about. You can’t keep hiding the truth.

BETHANY

What truth? What else have you two been hiding from me?

JADE

There’s something that happened before I came here today. Something Larry never expected you to find out.

LARRY

Jade, please. Don’t bring that into this.

BETHANY

Why are you both acting like there’s another secret? Larry, what did you do?

JADE

Larry didn’t just tell me that he wanted to marry me. He also told me that he had already made arrangements for our future.

BETHANY

What arrangements?

Larry closed his eyes. He knew the conversation was about to become much worse.

JADE

He told me that once everything was settled, we would leave this place and start a new life together.

BETHANY

You were planning to leave me?

Larry tried to speak, but no words came out.

JADE

And that’s not even the biggest part.

BETHANY

What could possibly be bigger than this?

JADE

Tell her about the money, Larry. Tell her what you promised me in exchange for keeping our relationship a secret.

LARRY

Jade, you have no idea what you’re about to start.

JADE

Then explain it to everyone. Because I’m tired of protecting you.

BETHANY

What money? What did you give her?

Larry looked at his wife, then at Jade. His entire secret was about to come out.
