AMBER AND DAVE’S FIGHT
THE PODCAST CONTRACT SECRET
🔥 HOOK — ONE SIGNATURE THAT COULD DESTROY EVERYTHING 🔥
The moment Amber discovered that Dave had secretly signed the podcast contract, she knew their relationship would never be the same again. But what Dave didn’t know was even more dangerous. His decision had brought him closer to Anthony, Amber’s ex-husband, a man whose intentions were still hidden behind a carefully constructed smile.
Standing beside the swimming pool, Amber stared at Dave with disbelief and anger. She had spent years trying to keep Anthony out of her life, and now Dave had unknowingly opened a door that could bring him straight back into their world.
Amber wasn’t just angry about a contract. She was terrified of what would happen when Dave finally learned the truth.
And before the day was over, one shocking revelation would make him question everything he thought he knew about the people closest to him.
SCENE 1: OUTSIDE THE HOUSE — NEAR THE POOL
The afternoon sun reflected off the swimming pool. Dave stood beside a lounge chair, checking something on his phone, completely unaware that Amber was approaching him.
Amber had just discovered the signed podcast contract. Her hands trembled as she held a copy of the document, and her expression revealed that she was struggling to control her anger.
AMBER
You signed it?
DAVE
Signed what?
Amber raised the document between them.
AMBER
Don’t stand there pretending you don’t know what I’m talking about. This is the podcast contract, Dave! You signed it without even discussing it with me!
DAVE
Yes, I signed it. And I don’t understand why you’re acting like I’ve committed a crime.
Amber let out a bitter laugh.
AMBER
A crime? You made a major decision that could affect both of our lives, and you couldn’t even give me a phone call!
DAVE
It’s my life, Amber! I can make my own decisions. You don’t need to interfere in everything I do.
His words struck Amber harder than he realized. She stepped closer, her eyes burning with anger.
AMBER
So now I’m interfering? After everything we’ve been through, that’s what you have to say to me?
DAVE
I’m tired of having to explain every decision I make. Every time I try to do something for myself, you find a reason to turn it into an argument.
AMBER
Because you never stop to think about the consequences!
DAVE
Maybe the problem is that you think you have the right to control me.
Amber stared at him in disbelief. She had expected him to defend his decision, but she hadn’t expected him to accuse her of trying to control his life.
AMBER
You have no idea what you’ve gotten yourself into.
DAVE
Then explain it to me instead of shouting!
AMBER
I tried to explain things to you before. You never listen!
Dave shook his head and turned away, hoping to end the argument. But Amber wasn’t ready to let him walk away.
AMBER
Look at me when I’m talking to you!
DAVE
What do you want from me, Amber? I signed a contract for a podcast. It’s an opportunity. It could help me build something of my own.
AMBER
And who gave you this opportunity? Anthony?
The mention of Anthony’s name immediately changed Dave’s expression. He looked at her more carefully.
DAVE
What’s Anthony got to do with this?
Amber hesitated. For a brief moment, the anger in her eyes was replaced by fear. She realized she had revealed more than she intended. Dave noticed the change.
DAVE
Wait a minute. Why did you bring up Anthony? Is there something about this contract that you’re not telling me?
AMBER
I’m trying to protect you!
DAVE
From what? A business deal?
AMBER
From a man who knows exactly how to make people believe they’re getting something good when he’s actually taking something away from them!
DAVE
You’re talking about my opportunity, and you’re making accusations about Anthony without giving me a single fact.
AMBER
Because you haven’t given me a chance to tell you the truth!
DAVE
Then tell me now!
Amber opened her mouth, but the words wouldn’t come. She glanced at the contract in her hand, remembering something she had hoped would never become relevant again.
DAVE
That’s what I thought. You don’t have anything to say.
He reached for the contract. Amber pulled it away.
AMBER
Don’t you dare walk away from me like this!
DAVE
I’m not doing this anymore.
AMBER
You’re going to regret those words!
DAVE
And you’re going to regret treating me like I can’t think for myself!
The argument had reached a breaking point.
SCENE 2: THE FIGHT ESCALATES
Amber moved toward Dave and angrily pushed him in the chest. Dave stumbled backward, nearly losing his balance beside the pool. His expression changed instantly from frustration to shock.
DAVE
What is wrong with you?
AMBER
You don’t get to disrespect me and then walk away!
Dave pushed her back to create some distance between them.
DAVE
Stay away from me! I’m not going to let you put your hands on me!
AMBER
You pushed me!
DAVE
You pushed me first!
AMBER
Because you refuse to listen!
DAVE
No, Amber! Because you think being angry gives you the right to do whatever you want!
Dave stepped away from the pool, trying to put an end to the confrontation. Amber followed him, still holding the contract.
AMBER
You think this is about me being angry? You have no idea what I’ve sacrificed to keep certain people away from our lives!
DAVE
Then stop using your past as an excuse to control my future!
Amber froze. Those words hurt because they touched something she had never fully explained to him.
For several seconds, neither of them spoke. The sound of water moving through the pool’s filtration system filled the silence.
DAVE
I wanted this opportunity because I thought it could be a fresh start. I thought I could finally do something without being reminded of everybody else’s problems.
AMBER
A fresh start with Anthony?
DAVE
He’s offering me a professional opportunity. That’s all I know.
AMBER
And that’s exactly what scares me!
DAVE
Why?
AMBER
Because Anthony never does anything without a reason.
DAVE
You know what? I’m beginning to think you’re only upset because you don’t want me working with him.
AMBER
You think I care about who you work with? I care about what he wants from you!
DAVE
Then tell me what he wants!
Amber’s eyes filled with frustration.
AMBER
I can’t explain everything out here!
DAVE
You had plenty of time to explain it before I signed.
AMBER
I didn’t know you were going to sign it!
DAVE
Exactly! Because you never asked me what I wanted!
Amber’s anger faltered. She had been so focused on stopping Dave that she hadn’t considered how her own behavior looked to him.
But before she could respond, Dave’s phone began to ring. He glanced at the screen. Anthony’s name appeared.
Dave answered the call without taking his eyes off Amber.
DAVE
Anthony. What’s going on?
ANTHONY
I just wanted to make sure everything was settled with the contract. We have a lot to discuss before the first recording.
Dave glanced at the document in Amber’s hand.
DAVE
Everything is settled. I signed it.
ANTHONY
Excellent. I knew you’d make the right decision.
Amber’s face tightened at the sound of his voice. She stepped closer to Dave.
AMBER
Ask him one question.
DAVE
Not now.
AMBER
Ask him why he really chose you.
DAVE
Anthony, why did you specifically want me for this podcast?
Another brief silence followed.
ANTHONY
Because I believe in your potential, Dave. You’re talented, you’re ambitious, and I think we can build something successful together.
The answer sounded perfectly reasonable. Yet Amber looked even more frightened.
DAVE
All right. I’ll see you at the recording.
ANTHONY
Of course. And Dave?
DAVE
Yeah?
ANTHONY
Don’t let anyone convince you that this opportunity is a mistake. Some people become uncomfortable when they see you moving forward.
DAVE
I’ll keep that in mind.
The call ended. Amber stared at Dave, her breathing unsteady.
AMBER
Did you hear that?
DAVE
I heard a man congratulating me on a business deal.
AMBER
No. You heard him telling you not to listen to me.
DAVE
Maybe because you haven’t given me a reason to trust what you’re saying!
Amber looked away, wounded by his words. For the first time that afternoon, she seemed to realize that she might actually lose Dave’s trust before she ever had the chance to explain herself.
SCENE 3: ANTHONY’S PRIVATE OFFICE — THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STORY
Across town, Anthony sat behind his desk in a quiet office. The podcast contract lay open in front of him, and a second folder was tucked beneath it.
He had just finished speaking to Dave. A man standing near the office door watched him carefully.
MAN
He signed it?
ANTHONY
Without hesitation.
MAN
And Amber?
ANTHONY
She found out. I imagine she’s already trying to convince him that he made a terrible mistake.
MAN
What happens if Dave starts asking questions?
ANTHONY
Everybody asks questions eventually. The important thing is making sure they don’t ask the right ones too soon.
He opened the second folder. Inside were several documents related to the podcast agreement. Anthony examined one page and tapped a particular section with his finger.
MAN
You told Dave this was a straightforward business opportunity.
ANTHONY
And it is. At least, that’s what he believes.
MAN
You know Amber isn’t going to let this go.
Anthony’s smile disappeared.
ANTHONY
Amber has always believed she can stop me by keeping secrets. She doesn’t understand that some secrets become more valuable the longer people keep them hidden.
He closed the folder.
