nd ) Wayne and Yaya: A Pregnancy, a Hidden Truth, and a Secret That Changes Everything

Wayne, Anthony and Yaya

WAYNE, ANTHONY, AND YAYA
A LIE, TWO FACES

The moment Wayne saw the pregnancy test in Yaya’s trembling hand, he knew their love story was about to become a nightmare.

But what frightened him most was not the baby. It was the message he had just discovered on her phone — a message sent by the one person he had trusted like a brother.

And when he finally read the last line, Wayne realized that someone had been lying to him for months.
Someone who knew his darkest secret.
Someone who was standing right in front of him.

SCENE 1 — THE UNEXPECTED NEWS

INT. YAYA’S APARTMENT — EVENING

Rain tapped against the windows. The room was quiet, except for the ticking clock and the nervous breathing of Yaya.

She stood beside the sofa, holding a pregnancy test in one hand. Her other hand rested against her stomach.

When Wayne entered, she immediately looked up.

WAYNE Baby, why are you standing in the dark? Is everything okay?
YAYA Wayne, please sit down. I need to tell you something.
WAYNE You look like you’re about to tell me you won the lottery.
YAYA I wish it were that simple.

Her voice cracked. She held out the test. Wayne looked at it. His smile disappeared.

WAYNE What is this?
YAYA I’m pregnant.

Silence filled the room. For a moment, Wayne couldn’t speak. He had imagined marrying Yaya, buying a house with her, and watching their children run through the garden.

WAYNE No. That can’t be right.
YAYA I took three tests. They all showed the same result.
WAYNE But we used condoms every time!

Yaya lowered her eyes.

WAYNE Tell me something, Yaya. Is this baby mine?
YAYA Wayne, I love you.
WAYNE That isn’t an answer!
WAYNE Look at me and tell me the truth. Is there someone else?
YAYA Please, let me explain.
WAYNE Then explain!

Yaya opened her mouth, but no words came out. Wayne grabbed his jacket and stormed toward the door.

YAYA Where are you going?
WAYNE To find the only person who might know what you’ve been hiding.

The door slammed behind him. Yaya sank onto the sofa, covering her face with both hands.

Her phone vibrated. A new message appeared.

“It’s time to tell him what really happened that night.”

Yaya stared at the screen. Then she whispered something that would have destroyed Wayne if he had heard it.

YAYA Not yet. Please, not yet.

SCENE 2 — THE MAN HE SUSPECTED

INT. CITY HOSPITAL — NIGHT

Anthony stood near the reception desk, waiting for news about his younger sister, who had been admitted earlier that evening.

He had barely finished speaking to a nurse when Wayne appeared. Wayne’s eyes were red with anger.

ANTHONY Wayne? What’s wrong with you?
WAYNE Don’t pretend you don’t know.
ANTHONY Know what?

Wayne seized Anthony’s jacket and pushed him against the wall.

WAYNE How long have you been lying to me?
ANTHONY Let go of me!
WAYNE Is something going on between you and Yaya?
ANTHONY Have you lost your mind? Yaya is my friend!
WAYNE A friend you call at midnight? A friend who tells you everything before she tells me?
ANTHONY Because sometimes she needs someone who will actually listen to her!

The words struck Wayne harder than Anthony expected.

WAYNE What does that mean?
ANTHONY It means you’ve been so busy building the future you imagined that you stopped noticing the person standing beside you.
WAYNE Don’t lecture me about my relationship.
ANTHONY Then stop accusing me of destroying it!

Wayne raised his fist, but Anthony caught his wrist. Before either man could move, a familiar voice echoed through the corridor.

YAYA STOP!

Both men turned. Yaya stood several steps away, breathless, her eyes filled with tears.

YAYA What are you doing? This is a hospital!
WAYNE Ask your best friend what he’s been hiding.
ANTHONY Ask him why he thinks every problem in his life must be someone else’s fault!
YAYA Enough!
YAYA You are both fighting over a truth neither of you understands.
WAYNE Then tell us the truth!

Yaya looked at Anthony. Anthony’s expression changed. For the first time that night, he looked afraid.

WAYNE Why are you looking at him? What does he know?
ANTHONY Wayne, listen to me. Whatever you think happened, you don’t have the whole story.
WAYNE Then give me the rest!

Anthony glanced at Yaya, silently asking her whether she was ready. She nodded.

But before either of them could speak, the hospital lights flickered, and Yaya’s phone began ringing.

UNKNOWN NUMBER.
ANTHONY No. Not now.

SCENE 3 — THE MESSAGE

INT. HOSPITAL CORRIDOR — CONTINUOUS

Wayne noticed the fear on their faces. It wasn’t the fear of two people caught in an affair. It was the fear of people who knew something terrible was about to come to light.

WAYNE Who is calling you?
YAYA Nobody important.
WAYNE Then answer it.
YAYA Wayne, please.
