The afternoon was quiet inside Larry’s house.
Bethany sat across from Larry, holding a notebook filled with business ideas.
She looked nervous, but determined.
“I want to start a small business, Larry.”
“What kind of business?”
Bethany opened her notebook and showed him several pages.
“I’ve been thinking about restaurants, cafés, and food businesses. I want to build something that can actually become successful.”
“But I need money to get started.”
Larry leaned back. For a moment, he said nothing.
“Bethany, I’m sorry, but I can’t give you the money.”
“So that’s a no?”
“Yes. Right now, it’s a no.”
Bethany closed her notebook and walked away quietly.
SCENE 2 — ANOTHER NO
Later, Bethany called her father, Newburger.
She explained her business idea, her plans, and the money she needed.
“Bethany, I understand what you’re trying to do.”
“But I’m not going to give you the money either.”
Bethany closed her eyes. Another rejection.
“Dad, I really believe I can make this work.”
“I believe in you. But believing in you doesn’t mean I should simply hand you money.”
The call ended.
Bethany stared at her phone.
Larry had said no. Her father had said no. For the first time, her dream felt completely out of reach.
SCENE 3 — NEWBURGER’S DECISION
Newburger sat alone in his office.
He kept thinking about Bethany’s voice.

Larry entered Newburger’s office.

“Bethany asked us for money.”
“I already told her no.”
“So did I.”
“Then why did you call me?”
Newburger leaned forward.
“Because I think we handled this the wrong way.”
“What do you mean?”
“What if we don’t simply give Bethany money?”
Larry waited.
“What if we invest in her?”
Larry’s expression changed.
“Invest?”
“Yes. You and I could work together.”
Newburger explained that Bethany and Brooke could build a real restaurant, café, and food business instead of simply receiving cash.
Larry wasn’t convinced yet.
SCENE 5 — LARRY’S DECISION
Larry stood and walked toward the window.
He thought about Bethany’s request.
She hadn’t demanded anything. She had simply asked for an opportunity.
“Sometimes the biggest mistake is refusing to give someone an opportunity simply because you’re afraid it might fail.”
Those words stayed with Larry.
“Okay.”
Newburger looked at him.
“Let’s do it.”
The decision had been made.
SCENE 6 — THE NEW BEGINNING
Within days, Larry and Newburger began planning the new business.
They discussed locations, menus, startup costs, staffing, equipment, branding, and expansion.
Bethany and Brooke were brought into the plan.
Weeks later, construction began.
The first restaurant and café started taking shape.
Bethany worked on the food concept while Brooke helped with branding and social media.
Larry handled the business side, while Newburger worked on the investment and expansion plans.
“We actually did it.”
“No. They helped us do it.”

The grand opening finally arrived.
