Rob ends the call.

For several seconds, he simply stands there.

Then he smiles.

Rob arrives at Bethany’s house. He knocks on the door.

Bethany opens it. Her eyes are still red from crying.

Bethany steps aside.

Rob moves closer.

Rob takes a breath.

Bethany stares at him.

Bethany is speechless.

Bethany looks away.

Finally, she turns back toward him.

Rob’s face lights up.

Time passes quickly.

The wedding day arrives.

Bethany stands beside Rob, dressed beautifully for the ceremony.

Rob suddenly opens his eyes.

He is lying in his own bed.

Morning sunlight comes through the window.

Rob sits up quickly and looks around the room.

He looks toward the empty chair beside his bed.

Nobody is there.

No wedding. No Bethany. No Larry. No divorce papers.

NOTHING.

Rob slowly realizes what happened.

He sits silently on the edge of the bed.

The entire story flashes through his mind.

The gym. Larry. The divorce. Bethany. The proposal. The wedding.

Everything had happened inside his dream.

In reality, Larry had never divorced Bethany.

Rob had never proposed.

Bethany had never agreed to marry him.

And there had been no wedding at all.

He takes a deep breath.
