nou ) Sharra found a clue… but it raised an even bigger question!
One unanswered phone call could have been nothing. Two unanswered calls could have been a coincidence. But when Sharra called her mother again and again, the fear inside her heart continued to grow.
Mom… please pick up.
The phone keeps ringing. There is no answer. Sharra checks the screen again and calls her mother one more time.
Why aren’t you answering me?
Her voice begins to shake. She grabs her purse and keys and rushes out.
Sharra arrives at the place where her mother usually stays. She knocks on the door again and again.
Mom! It’s me!
There is no answer. Sharra checks every room. The bedroom is empty. The kitchen is empty. Her mother is nowhere to be found.
Where did you go?
She calls again. Nothing. Her hands begin trembling.
Sharra returns home and immediately calls Larry. He answers almost instantly.
Sharra? What’s wrong?
Larry… I can’t find my mother.
What do you mean you can’t find her?
I’ve been calling her. She isn’t answering. I went to the place where she usually stays, but she wasn’t there.
I’m coming over.
Larry, I don’t know what to do.
Don’t panic. We’ll find her.
Larry arrives and sees how badly Sharra is shaken. She shows him her mother’s photograph.
Larry, I’m scared.
We’re going to find her.
She’s all I have.
Larry promises to stay beside her. Together, they begin searching the area.
They show the photograph to neighbors, pedestrians, store workers and everyone they meet.
Excuse me, have you seen this woman?
But nobody can give them a clear answer.
As the search continues, Sharra becomes exhausted. She sits down and starts crying.
Larry, what if we never find her?
Don’t say that.
My father is already gone. I lost him a long time ago. My mother is the only family I have left.
I can’t lose her too.
You’re not alone. We’re going to keep searching until we find her.
A store worker suddenly recognizes Sharra’s mother.
I may have seen her earlier today.
Where?
She was standing outside for a few minutes. I think she walked that way.
Sharra and Larry immediately follow the direction he points toward.
On the quiet road, Larry notices something lying on the ground.
It is a small piece of fabric.
That’s my mother’s.
Sharra holds it tightly in her hand.
Then we’re close.
Suddenly, Sharra’s phone rings.
The screen shows an unknown number.
Hello?
There is silence. Then Sharra hears a faint voice.
Mom?
The call suddenly disconnects.
A few moments later, a message arrives from the same unknown number.
There is no text. Only a photograph.
Sharra opens it — and freezes.
Larry…
Her mother is standing in an unfamiliar location. She looks frightened.
Who sent this?
The same unknown number.
Larry looks carefully at the background of the photograph. He suddenly recognizes the place.
Sharra… I know that place.
Where?
We’re going there right now.
“DON’T TRUST LARRY.”
Sharra slowly looks at Larry. For the first time that night, she wonders if the person standing beside her is actually hiding something.
