1. Larry Discovers the Truth

Larry had always believed that Brooke was entering an important stage of her adult life. She had graduated from high school, was preparing for the next chapter of her education, and was beginning to make decisions independently. But Larry recently discovered something that immediately changed the way he viewed her relationship with Isaiah.

He learned that Brooke and Isaiah had been involved in a serious relationship. What shocked him even more was learning that Brooke had decided to receive a Depo-Provera birth-control injection because she did not want to become pregnant at that time.

Larry understood that birth control was Brooke’s personal medical decision, but the discovery made him realize that the relationship had become more serious than he had understood. Instead of seeing two young adults simply dating, he now believed Brooke and Isaiah were making choices that could have long-term consequences.

Larry became quiet. He did not want to yell or create a physical confrontation. Instead, he began thinking about what he believed would provide Brooke with stability and direction.

2. Brooke Faces Her Father

Brooke could immediately tell that something was different about her father. Larry’s expression was serious, and his normally calm voice carried a weight she had never heard before.

Larry told Brooke that he knew about Isaiah. He also told her that he had discovered the decision she had made regarding birth control. Brooke became emotional because she knew her father was disappointed and worried.

“Dad, I know you’re worried about me,” Brooke said quietly. “But I am trying to make my own decisions.”

Larry looked at his daughter and explained that he was not trying to control every part of her life. He believed he was trying to protect her from making decisions that could affect her future.

Then Larry said something Brooke never expected to hear.

He told Brooke that if Isaiah was truly going to remain in her life, he wanted them to get married.

3. Isaiah’s Previous Promise

Brooke’s eyes filled with tears because Larry’s suggestion reminded her of something Isaiah had previously told her.

Isaiah had once been very clear about marriage. He told Brooke that he did not want to marry her at that point in his life. He wanted their relationship, but he did not want the responsibility and commitment of marriage.

Brooke had accepted his words even though they deeply hurt her.

She remembered conversations where she had tried to understand what Isaiah wanted from their future. Isaiah had repeatedly insisted that he cared about her but was not ready to become her husband.

Now Larry was asking her to stand beside the same man at a wedding ceremony.

Brooke wondered whether Isaiah’s feelings had changed or whether they were simply being pushed into a situation neither of them had planned.

4. Larry Makes a Secret Call

Larry decided that he needed to speak directly with Isaiah. He did not want a long argument over the phone, and he did not want to reveal his entire plan before Isaiah returned to Atlanta.

Isaiah was still in Philadelphia when Larry called him.

Isaiah answered, expecting a normal conversation.

Larry simply said, “Isaiah, I want to meet with you.”

Isaiah immediately asked what the meeting was about.

Larry did not explain.

“Just come back to Atlanta,” Larry said. “We need to talk face-to-face.”

Isaiah was confused, but he eventually agreed. He had no idea that Larry had already made a decision that could completely change his future with Brooke.

5. Isaiah Returns to Atlanta

When Isaiah arrived back in Atlanta, he expected Larry to discuss Brooke, their relationship, and perhaps the concerns surrounding her future.

Instead, Larry picked up Brooke and took both of them to a beautiful modern church.

Isaiah looked through the windows of the vehicle as they approached the church. His expression slowly changed.

“Why are we here?” he asked.

Larry did not answer immediately.

Brooke sat quietly, her eyes already becoming watery. She knew exactly what Larry had planned.

When Isaiah walked inside and saw a professionally dressed pastor waiting near the front, he finally understood.

This was not simply a meeting.

Larry had brought them to a wedding ceremony.
