Bethany Confronts Sharra About Larry and the Puerto Rico Trip
Chapter 1: The Questions That Wouldn’t Leave Bethany’s Mind
Bethany had been trying to convince herself that everything was fine, but deep inside, she knew something was wrong. Ever since she questioned Larry about his trip to Puerto Rico, her mind had been filled with unanswered questions. His explanations had not given her the peace she needed.
One name kept returning to her thoughts: Charlotte. Why did Charlotte keep coming into her mind whenever she thought about Puerto Rico? Was there something Larry had not told her?
“I cannot keep doing this to myself,” Bethany whispered. “Every time I ask Larry a question, I end up with even more questions.”
She considered calling Larry again, but she knew another conversation might lead to the same arguments. Then she thought about Sharra. Perhaps Sharra could tell her what had really happened.
“I need to hear it from her own mouth,” Bethany said firmly. “If nothing happened, then she should have no reason to hide the truth.”
Without telling anyone where she was going, Bethany grabbed her purse and keys and left the house.
Chapter 2: An Unexpected Visit
Sharra was at home when she heard a knock at the door. When she opened it and saw Bethany standing there, her expression immediately changed.
“Bethany? What are you doing here?”
“Can I come inside? I need to talk to you about something.”
“It’s important, Sharra. Please.”
Sharra hesitated before stepping aside. Once Bethany entered, Sharra folded her arms and waited for an explanation.
“You came all the way over here without calling me first. Whatever you have to say, you might as well say it.”
Bethany took a deep breath.
“I need you to answer one question honestly. It’s about Larry and the Puerto Rico trip.”
Sharra’s expression hardened.
“Seriously? You came to my house to talk about Larry?”
“I spoke to Larry about the trip, but I still don’t feel like I have the whole story.”
Sharra let out an impatient sigh.
“Then ask your question and get it over with.”
Bethany looked directly at her.
“Sharra, when you were in Puerto Rico, did you sleep with Larry?“
The room fell silent. Sharra stared at Bethany in disbelief.
“You really came into my house and asked me that?”
“I am asking because I need the truth.”
Sharra’s calmness disappeared. She felt insulted and became increasingly defensive.
Chapter 3: Sharra Defends Her Past
Sharra began pacing across the living room. She felt that Bethany had come to provoke her rather than have a peaceful conversation.
“Let me make something very clear. Larry and I are done. I don’t want him, I don’t need him, and I am not trying to get him back.”
Bethany watched her carefully.
“You keep saying that, but I need to understand why.”
“Because I have moved on with my life!”
Sharra stopped and faced Bethany.
“I am not sitting around waiting for Larry to call me. I am not planning my future around him. I have my own problems to deal with.”
Bethany tried to explain her fears.
“When you love someone, you don’t want to discover that everybody else knew something you didn’t.”
For a moment, Sharra’s expression softened.
“I understand that being suspicious of your husband can be painful. But that doesn’t give you the right to come here and accuse me.”
“I didn’t come here to start a fight. I just want to know whether I can trust Larry.”
“Your trust in Larry is something you and Larry need to work out together. I cannot fix your marriage for you.”
Bethany fell silent, but another troubling thought came to her mind. Larry was still helping Sharra financially.
Chapter 4: Bethany Brings Up the Rent
Bethany slowly raised her head.
“Sharra, if you have really moved on, then I have another question.”
Sharra sighed impatiently.
“Oh, here we go again. What now?”
Bethany looked directly at her.
“How can you say you have completely forgotten Larry when he is still paying the rent for your house?”
Sharra froze. Her expression changed from disbelief to anger.
“Who told you that?”
“Does it matter who told me? Is it true?”
Sharra stepped closer.
“Bethany, you need to be careful about what you say in my house.”
“I am not judging you. I am trying to understand why you keep saying you have moved on when Larry is still involved in your life.”
Sharra let out a bitter laugh.
“So now you’re here to judge my financial situation?”
“I am saying that there is still a connection between you.”
Sharra’s voice rose.
“A financial connection is not a romantic relationship!”
“Then why haven’t you ended it?”
Sharra stared at her furiously.
“Because my personal circumstances are none of your business!”
Bethany shook her head.
“If you truly want nothing to do with Larry, then why not tell him to stop paying your rent?”
Sharra pointed toward the door.
“Get out of my house!”
Bethany stood her ground.
“I came here for answers.”
“And I have told you everything you need to know!”
Chapter 5: The Confrontation Turns Physical
Sharra’s face flushed with anger.
“I have had enough of you!”
Bethany took a small step backward.
“Sharra, calm down. I am not trying to fight with you.”
“Then stop talking about my life!”
“I am only asking questions about Larry.”
Sharra suddenly grabbed Bethany by the neckline and pulled her toward her. Bethany gasped in surprise.
“Sharra! Let go of me!”
“Who do you think you are, coming into my house and talking to me like this?”
“Let go! I haven’t done anything to you!”
Sharra pushed Bethany backward and began striking at her as Bethany struggled to get away. The peaceful living room had become the center of a heated physical confrontation.
“Stop it!” Bethany shouted. “You don’t have to do this!”
But Sharra was too angry to listen.
“You should have kept my name out of your mouth!”
“I came here to talk, not to fight!”
Bethany finally managed to pull away and move toward the other side of the room. Her purse slipped from her shoulder and landed on the floor.
“I cannot believe you just did that,” Bethany said, her voice trembling.
Sharra stood several feet away.
“Then you should have left when I told you to.”
Bethany straightened her clothing and picked up her purse.
“I came here because I thought you would tell me the truth. I never expected you to put your hands on me.”
Sharra pointed toward the door again.
“Leave. Now.”
Bethany stared at her in disbelief. She had asked difficult questions, but that did not justify being attacked.
“You can be angry with me all you want, Sharra. But attacking me won’t make my questions disappear.”
Bethany opened the door and stepped outside, determined to get away from the situation.
Chapter 6: Bethany Leaves With More Questions Than Answers
Outside, Bethany stopped beside her car and took several deep breaths. Her hands were shaking, and she needed a moment to collect herself.
“I just wanted the truth,” she whispered. “Why did she get so angry if she has nothing to hide?”
She knew Sharra’s anger did not automatically prove anything about Puerto Rico. Perhaps Sharra felt insulted, or perhaps the financial connection with Larry was more complicated than Bethany understood.
Bethany sat inside her car and considered calling Larry. Eventually, she decided to wait until she could think clearly. She started the engine and drove home.
Once home, she picked up her phone and opened Larry’s contact. This time, she wanted answers directly from him.
“Larry, we need to talk.”
“What happened, Bethany? You sound upset.”
“I have been thinking about Puerto Rico, and there are still things I don’t understand.”
“Again? I thought we already talked about this.”
“We did, but I still have questions. And there is something else I found out.”
“What is it?”
Bethany took a breath.
“I went to see Sharra.”
Larry fell silent.
“You went to Sharra’s house?”
“Yes. I wanted to ask her directly about the trip.”
Larry sighed.
“Bethany, why would you do that without telling me?”
“Because I didn’t feel that I had the whole truth!”
Larry paused before asking what Sharra had said.
“She told me that you two have no relationship anymore and that she has moved on. But when I asked her about you paying her rent, she became furious.”
There was another silence.
“Larry? Are you still there?”
“Yes, I’m here.”
Bethany asked the question that had been troubling her.
“Then tell me why you’re paying her rent.”
Larry hesitated.
“Bethany, it’s not as simple as you think.”
Bethany closed her eyes. Those words were exactly what she had been afraid to hear.
“Then explain it to me. I am listening.”
Larry asked if they could talk when he got home, but Bethany was tired of postponing the conversation.
“No, Larry. We have been putting things off for too long. If you want me to trust you, then we need to start telling each other the truth.”
They agreed to speak face-to-face. Bethany knew that anger and suspicion would not solve her problems, but she could no longer ignore the questions troubling her marriage.
Why was Larry still paying Sharra’s rent? What had really happened in Puerto Rico? And what did Charlotte have to do with everything?
Somewhere between Larry’s explanations and Sharra’s anger, there was a story Bethany had yet to understand.
To Be Continued…
Will Larry finally tell Bethany the truth about Sharra and the Puerto Rico trip?
Will Charlotte’s name reveal another hidden secret?
The next conversation could change everything.
