Usm ) Bethany’s Final Goodbye: Choosing Jessie Over Larry

Bethany’s Final Goodbye
Choosing Jessie Over Larry
Bethany never imagined that the truth about Larry would change her life so dramatically. For a long time, she had believed that something was wrong in their relationship, but she could never understand why Larry kept avoiding intimacy and making excuses whenever she tried to get closer to him. She had questioned herself countless times, wondering whether she had done something wrong. However, everything changed when she finally discovered the truth: Larry had been choosing celibacy and had not been honest with her about the real reason behind his behavior.
Bethany felt hurt, confused, and deeply disappointed. She could have confronted Larry immediately, but instead, she decided to take a different approach. She wanted to understand her own feelings and show Larry that she was no longer willing to remain trapped in a relationship where she felt unwanted.
The Call That Changed Everything
That was when Jessie came into her mind.
Bethany picked up her phone and called Jessie. When he answered, she tried to sound calm, even though her mind was racing with emotions.
“Hey, Jessie. Are you busy right now?” Bethany asked.
“Not really. Is everything okay?” Jessie replied, immediately noticing something unusual in her voice.
“I was wondering if we could meet. There’s something I want to talk to you about.”
After ending the call, Bethany took a deep breath. She knew that meeting Jessie could complicate an already difficult situation, but she was determined to stop letting Larry’s decisions control her happiness.
When Bethany and Jessie finally met, their conversation began with a few nervous smiles. Jessie could tell that Bethany had a lot on her mind, so he gave her time to speak. As they talked, Bethany gradually relaxed. Jessie listened to her without interrupting, making her feel heard in a way she had not experienced for quite some time.
Larry Sees Them Together
Meanwhile, Larry had no idea what Bethany was planning.
When Bethany later appeared with Jessie, she deliberately became affectionate toward him whenever Larry was around. She smiled at Jessie, held his hand, and stood close to him, making it obvious that they were enjoying each other’s company. Her behavior was intended to get Larry’s attention and make him realize that he could not continue taking her feelings for granted.
Jessie looked at Bethany and asked quietly, “Are you sure you want to do this? I don’t want to become part of a situation that hurts you even more.”
Bethany glanced toward Larry before answering. “I want him to understand how it feels to be ignored. For so long, I’ve been the one waiting for answers, trying to fix things, and wondering why I wasn’t enough. I’m tired of feeling that way.”
Jessie nodded, although he knew there was more to the situation than Bethany was saying.
As Larry watched them together, his expression changed. He became visibly irritated when Bethany laughed at Jessie’s jokes and held his hand without paying any attention to him. He had expected Bethany to remain focused on their relationship, regardless of how distant he had become.
Now, seeing her give another man the attention he had grown accustomed to receiving from her made him uncomfortable.
“Bethany, can I talk to you for a minute?” Larry finally asked.
Bethany turned toward him but did not release Jessie’s hand. “What do you want to talk about, Larry?” she asked calmly.
Larry looked at Jessie before returning his attention to Bethany. “I don’t think this is the right time for you to be doing all this.”
Bethany raised her eyebrows. “Really? And when was the right time for you to explain what was happening between us? I kept asking you questions, and you kept leaving me confused.”
“You know things haven’t been easy for me,” Larry said.
“And things haven’t been easy for me either,” Bethany replied. “The difference is that I kept trying to communicate with you.”
Larry’s Unexpected Reaction
Although Larry was angry, another part of him felt relieved. He had wanted distance from the relationship, and Bethany’s growing closeness with Jessie seemed to offer him a way out. Rather than fighting to repair their relationship, Larry began to accept the possibility that Bethany would eventually leave.
His mixed reaction confused Bethany. She had expected him to become jealous and fight for her, but his willingness to let her go made her question whether he had ever been as invested in their relationship as she had been.
Bethany Tells Jessie the Truth
Later, when Bethany and Jessie found themselves alone, the atmosphere became more serious. Bethany looked at Jessie, still holding his hand, and realized that she needed to be honest with him. She could not keep using their connection simply to provoke Larry.
“Jessie, there’s something I need to tell you,” she began.
Jessie looked at her attentively. “I’m listening.”
Bethany took a moment before continuing. “I know that part of what happened today was because I wanted Larry to see us together. I was hurt, and I wanted him to understand what it felt like to be ignored. But while we were together, I realized that I don’t want my future to revolve around Larry anymore.”
Jessie remained quiet, allowing her to finish.
“I care about you, Jessie,” Bethany said. “And I want to start a new life. I want a relationship where honesty matters, where I can express my feelings without constantly wondering where I stand. I don’t want to keep living in the past.”
Jessie gently squeezed her hand. “Bethany, I care about you too. But if we’re going to start something new, I want it to be real. I don’t want you to choose me just because you’re angry with Larry.”
Bethany nodded. “You’re right. I don’t want that either. I want to make this decision for myself.”
The Final Goodbye
Finally, Bethany walked back toward Larry with Jessie beside her. This time, she was no longer trying to make Larry jealous. She had made up her mind that their relationship had reached its end.
Holding Jessie’s hand, Bethany faced Larry and spoke with quiet determination.
“Larry, I think it’s time for us to say goodbye. I’ve spent too long waiting for things to change. I can’t keep holding on to a relationship that leaves me feeling alone.”
Larry looked at their joined hands and then at Bethany. “So that’s it? You’re just walking away?” he asked.
“I’m choosing to move forward,” Bethany answered. “You have your own decisions to make, and I have mine. I hope we can both find what we’re looking for, but I can’t keep waiting for you.”
Jessie stood beside Bethany, offering her silent support.
Bethany gave Larry one final look. “Goodbye, Larry.”
Then she turned toward Jessie, and the two walked away together.
Larry watched them leave, experiencing a complicated mixture of anger, disappointment, and relief. He had wanted distance, but now that Bethany was actually walking away, he had to face the consequences of his choices.
For Bethany, the goodbye marked the beginning of a new chapter. Her future with Jessie was still uncertain, and she knew that trust would take time to build. But for the first time in a long while, she felt ready to make decisions based on her own happiness rather than her desire to win Larry’s attention.
As Jessie held her hand, Bethany looked ahead and smiled.
“Do you think we can really start over?” she asked.
Jessie smiled back. “We can start by being honest with each other. The rest, we’ll figure out together.”
And with those words, Bethany left the past behind, ready to discover what her next chapter might hold.
