The cabin is almost completely dark. Only the soft blue lights above the seats remain awake.

ISAIAH sits by the window, restless and pale. His eyes remain fixed on the clouds outside.

Suddenly, his phone vibrates in his hand.

He looks at the screen.

For several seconds, Isaiah doesn’t answer. Then he finally does.

A long silence.

Isaiah closes his eyes. The airplane engine hums around him.

The house is silent.

Isaiah enters carefully and checks the hallway. His father’s bedroom door is closed.

He takes out his father’s wallet.

He opens it.

Isaiah stares at the money for a long moment.

He takes only what he thinks he needs. Then he closes the wallet.

A floorboard CREAKS.

He turns.

He exhales and disappears into the darkness.

Mariah stands alone near the departure gates. A small bag rests beside her.

Isaiah sits upright. Mariah pulls the blanket closer around herself.

Isaiah cannot answer.

His father grabs him.

Isaiah stumbles backward.

Isaiah looks up. His face is bruised, but his voice is steady.

His father freezes.

A simple ceremony. No extravagant decorations. Only a few witnesses.
