ANGELINA TAKES SHAYLA AWAY — “IT’S TIME TO START A NEW LIFE!” 💔✨
A story of friendship, courage, and the first steps toward a fresh beginning.
SCENE 1 — INT. SHAYLA’S HOUSE – LIVING ROOM – EARLY MORNING
The house is silent, but the atmosphere feels heavy. Shayla sits on the couch, staring at her phone. Several unread messages fill the screen, yet she has no energy to respond. Her eyes look tired, and her mind is somewhere far away. A half-packed suitcase rests near the front door.
Shayla slowly locks her phone and releases a deep breath. A knock interrupts the silence. She looks toward the door, surprised.
Who is it?
It’s me, girl. Open the door!
Shayla opens the door. Angelina stands outside with her handbag over one shoulder. She studies Shayla’s face and immediately notices that something is wrong.
Girl, what happened to you? You look like you haven’t slept all night.
I haven’t been sleeping much lately.
And why is that? Don’t tell me you’re still sitting here thinking about everybody else’s problems.
Angelina, I don’t even know what I’m supposed to do anymore. Everything has become so complicated.
Then maybe it’s time to stop doing the same things and expecting different results.
You make it sound so easy.
I didn’t say it was easy. I said it was necessary.
Shayla lowers her head, struggling to hold back her emotions. Angelina notices the suitcase near the door.
Wait a minute. What’s that suitcase doing there?
I was thinking about leaving for a while.
Leaving where?
I don’t know. Somewhere I can breathe without feeling like I’m carrying everybody’s expectations on my shoulders.
Well, what if I told you that you don’t have to figure everything out by yourself?
What are you talking about?
Get your things together. You’re coming with me.
Coming with you where?
Somewhere new. Somewhere you can clear your head and finally start thinking about yourself.
Angelina, I can’t just get up and leave my life behind.
Nobody is asking you to forget your life. I’m asking you to stop letting your past control your future.
Shayla remains silent. Angelina gently takes her hand.
Give yourself a chance, Shayla. That’s all I’m asking.
SCENE 2 — INT. SHAYLA’S BEDROOM – MOMENTS LATER
Shayla stands in front of her open suitcase, staring at the clothes scattered across her bed. Angelina leans against the doorway, watching her.
You planning to pack your entire closet?
I don’t know what I’ll need.
Clothes, your phone charger, your important things. That’s it. We’re not moving to another planet.
Shayla lets out a small laugh. For the first time that morning, the tension in her face eases.
You always know how to make me laugh when I don’t feel like smiling.
That’s because somebody has to remind you that you’re still alive and kicking.
Shayla folds a pink blouse and places it inside the suitcase. Then she pauses, looking at a framed photograph on her dresser. Her expression changes.
What’s wrong now?
I guess I’m just scared.
Of what?
Of leaving everything behind and discovering that nothing changes. What if I go somewhere new and still feel exactly the same?
A new place won’t magically fix every problem. But sometimes, getting away from the noise gives you enough peace to hear your own thoughts.
I’ve spent so much time worrying about other people. What they think, what they want, whether they’re happy with me.
And when was the last time you asked yourself whether you were happy?
Shayla opens her mouth, but no answer comes. Angelina nods sadly, then places a hand on Shayla’s shoulder.
You deserve to make choices because they’re right for you, not because you’re afraid somebody might walk away.
I don’t even know who I am without all this drama.
Then that’s what we’re going to find out.
You really think I can start over?
Girl, I know you can. But you’ve got to stop looking backward every time life gives you a chance to move forward.
Shayla takes one final look around her bedroom before closing the suitcase.
Okay. Let’s go.
Now that’s the Shayla I came here for!
SCENE 3 — EXT. SHAYLA’S HOUSE – LATE MORNING
Angelina places Shayla’s suitcase in the trunk of her car. Shayla stands on the front porch, looking back at the house. Memories rush through her mind: arguments, disappointments, unanswered questions, and promises that never turned into anything real.
You ready?
I think so.
That’s good enough for me.
It’s strange. I’ve been wanting to get away for so long, but now that I’m actually leaving, I feel guilty.
Why?
Because people might think I’m running away from my problems.
Let them think whatever they want. You know the truth. You’re not running away. You’re choosing to give yourself a chance.
And what if somebody needs me?
You can care about people without sacrificing your peace for them. Those two things can exist together.
Shayla takes a deep breath and steps away from the porch. Angelina opens the passenger door for her.
Okay. I’m ready now.
Then get in, because this new chapter isn’t going to write itself!
Shayla smiles and climbs into the car. Angelina gets behind the wheel. As they pull away, Shayla looks through the window at the house growing smaller in the distance. Her eyes glisten, but this time, she doesn’t ask Angelina to turn around.
SCENE 4 — INT. ANGELINA’S CAR – MOVING – DAY
The city passes outside the windows. Angelina drives while Shayla watches the changing scenery. For several minutes, neither woman speaks. Finally, Shayla breaks the silence.
Where exactly are we going?
I rented a place outside the city. It’s quiet, comfortable, and far enough away from everybody who thinks they have a say in your life.
You rented a place?
For a little while, yes.
Angelina! You should’ve told me that before I packed half my bedroom!
And miss watching you panic over three pairs of shoes? Absolutely not.
Shayla laughs with her, and the sound feels unfamiliar after so many difficult days. Then her smile slowly fades.
What am I supposed to do when we get there?
Rest. Think. Figure out what you want your life to look like.
And after that?
After that, you make decisions one day at a time.
I’ve made so many mistakes.
So have I.
You don’t talk about your mistakes very often.
Because I’m too busy learning from them.
Listen to me. Your mistakes can teach you something, but they don’t get to decide who you become. You can’t spend the rest of your life punishing yourself for things you wish you’d done differently.
Sometimes I wish I could go back and change everything.
I know. But you can’t go back, Shayla. You can only decide what happens next.
Maybe I’ve been waiting for somebody else to make me happy.
And maybe it’s time to stop waiting.
Shayla turns toward the window again. For the first time in a long time, the future doesn’t feel entirely frightening.
SCENE 5 — EXT. QUIET RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY – AFTERNOON
Angelina’s car turns onto a peaceful street lined with trees. A beautiful house stands at the end of the driveway, surrounded by a small garden and a white fence. Angelina parks the car.
This is where we’re staying?
Yes, ma’am!
Angelina, this place is beautiful.
I thou
