Scene 1: The Unexpected Return
EXT. LUXURY HOUSE — DRIVEWAY — LATE AFTERNOON
The sun hangs low in the sky, casting golden light across the driveway. A black car pulls up beside the house.
Yaya steps out slowly, holding her handbag close. She looks tired and distracted, her mind still occupied by the conversation she had with Dave.
Before she can reach the front door, Wayne appears from the entrance. His arms are folded, and his expression is cold. He has clearly been waiting for her.
Where have you been, Yaya?
I went out for a little while.
A little while? Do you think I haven’t noticed how long you’ve been gone?
Wayne, please. I’m tired. Can we talk later?
No. We’re going to talk right now.
Scene 2: The Question She Doesn’t Want to Answer
INT. LUXURY HOUSE — LIVING ROOM — MOMENTS LATER
The living room is quiet. Yaya stands near the sofa while Wayne paces back and forth. He stops suddenly and turns toward her.
Tell me something, Yaya. Why did you go to see Dave?
Yaya’s expression changes. Surprise flashes across her face before she quickly looks away.
I don’t know what you’re talking about.
Don’t pretend you don’t understand. I asked you a simple question. Why did you go to see Dave?
Yaya remains silent. Wayne waits, but no answer comes.
Yaya!
Please don’t shout at me.
Then give me a reason not to!
Scene 3: Wayne’s Anger Grows
INT. LUXURY HOUSE — LIVING ROOM — CONTINUOUS
Wayne runs a hand over his face, struggling to control his frustration.
You went to see Dave behind my back, and now you can’t even explain why?
I didn’t do anything wrong.
Then why are you hiding the truth?
Wayne, you don’t understand.
Then help me understand!
Yaya opens her mouth, but the words refuse to come. Wayne notices her hesitation.
What happened between you and Dave?
Nothing happened.
Because you’ve already decided that I’ve done something wrong!
Scene 4: Yaya Refuses to Explain
INT. LUXURY HOUSE — BY THE WINDOW — EVENING
Yaya walks toward the window, needing a moment away from Wayne’s intense stare. Tears gather in her eyes.
Turn around and talk to me.
I don’t want to argue anymore.
This isn’t about anything else. This is about Dave.
And what if I don’t want to talk about him?
Then tell me I’m wrong!
Yaya stares at him. Her lips part, but she says nothing. Five seconds pass, then ten.
You have plenty to say. You just don’t want to say it to me.
Yaya turns away before he can see her crying.
Scene 5: The Tears She Tries to Hide
INT. LUXURY HOUSE — HALLWAY — MOMENTS LATER
Yaya walks quickly toward the hallway, hoping to escape the argument before it becomes even more painful. Wayne follows her.
Where are you going now?
Somewhere I can breathe.
Please, Wayne. Just leave me alone for a moment.
Why are you crying if you haven’t done anything wrong?
Because you’re hurting me.
You can’t, or you won’t?
I won’t.
The answer lands between them like a wall. Yaya turns away, covering her face as her tears continue to fall.
Scene 6: Wayne Demands the Truth One Last Time
INT. LUXURY HOUSE — LIVING ROOM — EARLY EVENING
Wayne returns to the living room. His voice is lower now, but the frustration remains.
I’m going to ask you one last time. Why did you go to see Dave?
Wayne, stop treating me like I’m on trial!
You made Dave part of our problem when you decided to visit him.
You don’t know the whole story.
Then tell me the whole story!
I want you to stop forcing me to speak when I’m not ready.
And I want you to stop making me feel like there’s a part of your life I’m not allowed to know about.
Their eyes meet. Both are hurt, and neither knows how to bridge the distance between them.
Scene 7: Yaya Walks Away
INT. LUXURY HOUSE — STAIRCASE — NIGHT
Yaya turns toward the staircase and slowly climbs. Wayne remains at the bottom, watching her leave.
Are you seriously going to walk away without giving me an answer?
I have already told you everything I’m willing to tell you.
Sorry for what, Yaya? For seeing Dave, or for refusing to tell me why?
Yaya doesn’t answer. She reaches the upper landing and turns just enough for him to see her tear-streaked face.
I know.
She disappears down the hallway. Wayne stands alone, left with even more questions.
Scene 8: Two People, Two Different Fears
INT. LUXURY HOUSE — BEDROOM / LIVING ROOM — LATER THAT NIGHT
Yaya sits on the edge of the bed and stares at her phone. Dave’s name appears among her recent contacts. She locks the screen and places the phone facedown.
(whispering) Why does everything have to become so complicated?
Downstairs, Wayne sits alone. The television is on, but he isn’t watching it. He remembers how Yaya looked when she said he was hurting her.
(quietly) What are you hiding from me, Yaya?
He types “We need to talk,” stares at the message, then deletes it. The silence between them feels heavier than any words they exchanged.
Scene 9: The Unanswered Question
INT. LUXURY HOUSE — UPSTAIRS HALLWAY — LATE NIGHT
Yaya steps into the hallway with a glass of water. She looks downstairs and sees Wayne sitting alone. Their eyes meet across the distance.
Tomorrow, can we talk about what happened today?
I don’t know.
Okay.
Good night.
Good night, Yaya.
Yaya returns to her room and closes the door gently. Wayne remains in the living room. She has refused to tell him why she went to see Dave, and he still doesn’t know what happened.
FADE OUT.
