Chapter One — Amber Wants Answers

Amber could not stop thinking about Imani. The new assistant had only recently entered Dave’s professional life, yet somehow she had already become the center of a growing storm.

The mysterious note, Wayne’s involvement, the strange phone call, and the way Dave seemed to make time for Imani kept replaying in Amber’s mind.

When Dave finally returned home that evening, he immediately noticed the tension in the room. Amber was sitting quietly, waiting for him.

Dave sighed and explained that he needed someone to help with the work. But Amber wasn’t satisfied.

Dave reminded her that Imani was simply an employee. Amber looked directly into his eyes.

The room instantly became silent.

Chapter Two — Amber Says She Sees Something Different

Dave immediately rejected the accusation, but Amber wasn’t interested in another explanation. She wanted him to understand what she had been seeing.

Amber shook her head. To her, it wasn’t about one smile or one conversation. It was the pattern.

Then Amber brought up the person who had started this entire situation — Wayne.

Dave didn’t realize that those three words were about to turn their disagreement into a serious relationship crisis.

Chapter Three — Amber Demands That Imani Be Fired

Dave stood up, frustrated by the direction of the conversation. He wanted Amber to trust him, but Amber wanted action.

Dave stared at Amber in disbelief.

Dave pointed out that Imani had done nothing wrong. Amber’s response made the situation even more intense.

Dave refused to punish someone without evidence. Amber became emotional, explaining that she didn’t want to wait until something happened.

Dave remained firm. He could create boundaries, but he wasn’t going to fire Imani simply because Amber demanded it.

Chapter Four — Wayne’s Recommendation Changes Everything

As the argument continued, Wayne’s name kept coming back into the conversation. Amber couldn’t understand why Dave had accepted Wayne’s recommendation so easily.

Amber felt that Dave had made the decision without considering how it might affect her.

Dave quickly assured her that Imani was not more important than Amber.

Amber looked away. To Dave, it was a workplace decision. To Amber, it was a test of loyalty.

Chapter Five — Dave Refuses to Back Down

Finally, Dave made his position clear.

Amber’s expression changed immediately.

Amber slowly nodded. Her sudden calmness made Dave even more nervous.

Dave warned her not to turn the situation into an ultimatum. But Amber believed the decision had already been made by Dave himself.

Dave asked her to wait until tomorrow so they could discuss everything calmly. Amber refused.

Amber finally looked directly into Dave’s eyes and said what she had been holding inside.

Dave became silent.

Amber took a deep breath.

Dave couldn’t believe what he had just heard.

Dave reminded her that he loved her. But Amber didn’t move.

Dave looked at her for several seconds before asking the question that changed the entire atmosphere.

The next morning, Dave arrived at the office after barely sleeping. Amber’s ultimatum was still running through his mind.

Imani was already there. She immediately noticed that something was wrong.

Dave wanted answers. He wanted to know about Wayne, the mysterious messages, and the strange behavior that had caused so much tension.

Before he could ask, Imani’s phone suddenly rang. She looked at the screen and her entire expression changed.

Then another message appeared. Imani read it and suddenly became pale.

Another message arrived. This time, Dave saw the name on the screen.

Imani quickly locked her phone.

Dave stared at her.

Imani looked toward the office door. Her voice became quiet.

Dave froze.

Before Imani could explain, the office door suddenly opened.

Amber was standing there.

She had heard enough.

Neither Dave nor Imani answered. Amber stepped farther into the room and looked from Dave to Imani.

Then, without warning, Imani’s phone began ringing again.
