1. Isaiah Makes His Decision

Isaiah had made up his mind. He wanted Mariah in Philadelphia, and he wanted her there as soon as possible. For days, he had been thinking about how to make it happen. Every time he looked at his phone, he remembered the same conversation.

Mariah had been direct with him. She did not want another promise or another conversation that ended with “someday.” She wanted Isaiah to show her that he was serious.

“Then fly me out to Philly,” Mariah had told him. “If you’re serious about me, make it happen.”

Isaiah wanted to say yes immediately. In his mind, the answer was simple. He wanted Mariah close to him, and bringing her to Philadelphia felt like the next step. But reality quickly reminded him of the problem.

Isaiah did not have enough money for the ticket.

He sat quietly, staring at his phone while Mariah’s message remained on the screen. She expected a ticket, a plan, and most importantly, proof that Isaiah was not simply making promises.

(But Isaiah had no idea that his decision was about to create a much bigger problem.)

2. The One Person He Could Ask

Isaiah sighed and started thinking about his options. There was only one person he knew who might actually be able to help him: Brooke.

But Isaiah already knew that asking Brooke for money could create a huge problem. Brooke was not careless. She would ask questions immediately.

Where is the money going? Why do you need it? Who are you buying the ticket for?

And if Brooke discovered that the money was being used to bring Mariah to Philadelphia, Isaiah knew she would never agree.

He put his phone down. “No way,” he whispered.

He thought about calling Brooke anyway, but stopped himself. He had already walked away from Brooke. Asking her for money now would make everything even more complicated.

There was another question that frightened him even more. What if Brooke found out about Mariah? What if she discovered that Isaiah was secretly trying to bring another woman to Philadelphia?

Isaiah knew that could turn into something much bigger than an argument.

(If Brooke discovered the truth before Mariah arrived, the entire plan could collapse.)

3. A Mysterious Source of Money

Still, Isaiah needed money. He opened his banking app and checked his balance. His heart sank. It was not enough. Not even close.

He closed the app and leaned back. For several minutes, he did nothing. Then an idea came to him.

Isaiah reached for his phone again and started making calls. One call. Then another. Then another.

He did not tell anyone exactly what he was planning. His conversations were short, careful, and strangely secretive. He chose every word as if he knew that one wrong sentence could expose everything.

Hours passed. Isaiah kept checking his phone.

Then finally, a notification appeared.

He stared at the screen. For the first time that day, a small smile appeared on his face.

He finally had enough money.

But there was one problem: Isaiah was not ready to explain where it came from.

(Someone had helped him. The question was why.)

Isaiah understood that if the wrong person found out about the source of the money, his entire plan could fall apart before Mariah even boarded a plane.

4. Mariah Gets the Call

Isaiah immediately opened his conversation with Mariah. He stared at the keyboard for a moment, trying to make his message sound confident.

Finally, he typed, “Okay. I’m sending you the money for your ticket.”

Mariah saw the message, but she did not respond immediately. Isaiah waited. A minute passed. Then another.

Finally, his phone buzzed.

“Are you serious?” Mariah asked.

Isaiah looked at the message and typed back, “Yeah. I’m serious. Come to Philly.”

This time, Mariah responded almost immediately. She wanted to know when the money would arrive and when Isaiah wanted her to come.

Isaiah told her that he would send the money soon and that she needed to start getting ready.

Mariah was excited. To her, this was not just another conversation. She believed Isaiah was finally taking action.

Mariah believed the ticket meant Isaiah was serious about their future.

But Isaiah knew something she did not. The hardest part was not getting the money. (The hardest part was what would happen after Mariah arrived.)

5. Brooke Knows Nothing

Meanwhile, Brooke had no idea what Isaiah was doing. She was going about her day completely unaware that Isaiah was secretly arranging a trip for Mariah.

Isaiah knew the secret would not stay hidden forever. At some point, Brooke would find out.

Then the questions would begin.

Where did Isaiah get the money? Why did he suddenly have enough for a plane ticket? Who helped him? And why was Mariah coming to Philadelphia?

Isaiah put his phone down and looked around the room. He knew he was taking a serious risk, but in his mind, the decision had already been made.

Mariah was coming.

He checked the ticket information again. Everything was moving forward. The plan was becoming real.

But Isaiah had overlooked one thing: secrets rarely stay secret when other people are involved.

6. The Message That Changed Everything

Just as Isaiah was about to finalize the plans, another message appeared on his screen.

Isaiah froze.

The message was not from Mariah. It was not from the person who had helped him get the money either.

It was from someone he definitely was not expecting to hear from.

Isaiah stared at the name on the screen. His expression changed. For several seconds, he did not open the message.

He knew that whatever was inside could change everything.

Finally, he tapped it.

His eyes moved across the screen.

Then his face went still.

Someone already knew about his plan.

Someone knew Mariah was coming to Philadelphia. Someone knew Isaiah had found the money. And someone was watching closely.

Isaiah immediately locked his phone.

The excitement he had felt only minutes earlier was gone. Now he looked nervous.
