Jnd );Larry Chooses Lynette Over Bethany But Their Hidden Promise Could Change Everything!

Larry, Bethany, and Lynette

LARRY, BETHANY, AND LYNETTE

The Love He Refused to Rebuild

Bethany had spent so much time trying to save her relationship with Larry that she was beginning to forget what it felt like to be wanted.

She had opened her heart to him, admitted her feelings, and asked him to give their relationship another chance. She wasn’t asking for a perfect man. She simply wanted the man she loved to look at her the way he once had.

But Larry seemed more interested in spending time with his former wife, Lynette, than listening to the woman standing right in front of him.

And when Bethany finally confronted him, she asked a question that left him completely silent.

Was Lynette really the reason Larry was pulling away, or was Larry hiding a truth that could destroy everything Bethany still hoped to save?

SCENE 1 — BETHANY MAKES HER HEARTFELT CONFESSION

INT. LARRY’S HOUSE — LIVING ROOM — EVENING

The room was quiet, with soft light coming through the windows.

Bethany stood near the couch, nervously watching Larry as he checked something on his phone. She had spent the entire afternoon preparing herself for this conversation.

Tonight, she wasn’t going to hide her feelings.

She wanted Larry to understand that she still cared about him and believed they could rebuild what they had lost.

BETHANY
Larry, can we talk for a minute?

Larry barely looked up from his phone.

LARRY
About what?

Bethany took a breath, trying to remain calm.

BETHANY
About us. About what has been happening between us lately.

Larry placed his phone on the table but didn’t move closer to her.

LARRY
Bethany, if this is going to be another argument, I really don’t have the energy for it tonight.

His response immediately hurt her.

She wasn’t trying to argue. She was trying to save their relationship before it became something neither of them could recognize.

BETHANY
Why do you always assume I’m trying to argue with you? Can’t I talk to you about my feelings without you getting defensive?

Larry sighed.

LARRY
I’m listening. Go ahead.

But his expression made Bethany wonder whether he was listening at all.

She stepped closer, her voice becoming softer.

BETHANY
I want us to try again, Larry. I want us to bring the romance back into our lives. I want us to spend time together, laugh together, and feel like we’re actually in a relationship instead of two people who happen to be in the same room.

For a moment, Bethany thought her words had reached him.

Then Larry looked away.

LARRY
I don’t know what you expect me to say.

Bethany’s face fell.

BETHANY
You could start by telling me whether you want the same thing.

Larry picked up his phone again.

LARRY
I have a lot on my mind right now. We can talk about this another time.

He stood up and walked toward the hallway.

Bethany remained where she was, stunned by how easily he had dismissed something that meant so much to her.

She had made herself vulnerable, hoping he would meet her halfway.

Instead, she was left alone with unanswered questions.

SCENE 2 — LARRY CHOOSES LYNETTE

INT. LARRY’S HOUSE — FRONT DOOR — MOMENTS LATER

Larry returned to the living room wearing his jacket and checking his phone.

Bethany immediately noticed.

BETHANY
Where are you going?
LARRY
I’m going to meet Lynette for a while.

Bethany stared at him.

Of all the things he could have said, he had chosen the one thing that would hurt her most after their conversation.

BETHANY
Lynette?
LARRY
Yes, Lynette. We need to discuss a few things.

Bethany folded her arms, trying to control her growing frustration.

BETHANY
You don’t have time to discuss our relationship with me, but you have time to go and spend the evening with your former wife?

Larry’s expression hardened.

LARRY
Don’t start making this into something it isn’t.
BETHANY
Then explain what it is! Because from where I’m standing, it looks like every time I try to get closer to you, you find a reason to walk away from me and run toward her.

Larry shook his head.

LARRY
Lynette and I have things to discuss. That’s all you need to know.
BETHANY
No, Larry. That’s not all I need to know when your decisions are affecting my relationship with you.

He reached for the doorknob.

Bethany watched him, hoping he would stop and reconsider.

He didn’t.

BETHANY
Larry, please. I’m asking you to think about what you’re doing.

He turned briefly.

LARRY
I can’t keep having this conversation every time I need to go somewhere.

The door opened.

BETHANY
And I can’t keep pretending that you care about this relationship when your actions keep telling me something different!

Larry paused for a second, but he didn’t answer.

He walked outside and closed the door behind him.

Bethany stood motionless.

The sound of his departing footsteps seemed to echo through the house.

She had just told him she wanted to rebuild their relationship, and he had responded by leaving her behind to spend time with the woman who had once been his wife.

Bethany’s disappointment slowly turned into anger.

For the first time that evening, she began wondering whether she had been fighting for a relationship Larry had already decided to abandon.

SCENE 3 — LYNETTE NOTICES SOMETHING DIFFERENT

EXT. RESTAURANT — NIGHT

Larry arrived at a quiet restaurant where Lynette was waiting at a table near the window.

Lynette looked up as he approached.

LYNETTE
You’re late.
LARRY
I had something to take care of.

Lynette studied his face.

LYNETTE
Something, or someone?

Larry pulled out his chair and sat down.

LARRY
Can we not do this tonight?
LYNETTE
I’m not doing anything, Larry. I’m simply asking a question.

She leaned back and watched him carefully.

LYNETTE
You seem distracted. Is everything okay between you and Bethany?

Larry immediately looked at her.

LARRY
Why would you ask me that?
LYNETTE
Because you’ve been acting differently lately. And every time I mention Bethany, you become defensive.

Larry looked toward the window.

LARRY
Things between us aren’t exactly easy right now.

Lynette nodded slowly.

LYNETTE
And what does that mean?
LARRY
It means she wants us to work on our relationship, but I don’t know if I’m ready to give her what she’s asking for.

Lynette’s expression changed.

LYNETTE
Then you need to be honest with her.

Larry looked back at her.

LARRY
You make it sound simple.
LYNETTE
It isn’t simple. But keeping someone waiting while you figure out what you want isn’t fair either.

Her words struck a nerve.

Larry had expected Lynette to criticize Bethany or encourage him to do whatever made him happy.

Instead, she was asking him to face the consequences of his own choices.

LARRY
You don’t understand everything that’s happening.
LYNETTE
Then help me understand.

Larry opened his mouth, but the words never came.

For several seconds, they sat in silence.

Lynette finally reached for her glass.

LYNETTE
Larry, I need to ask you something. And I need you to answer honestly.

He looked at her.

LYNETTE
Are you spending time with me because you genuinely want to, or because you don’t want to face what is happening at home?

Larry’s expression tightened.

For once, he had no immediate response.

SCENE 4 — BETHANY’S FRUSTRATION REACHES ITS LIMIT

INT. BETHANY’S HOUSE — LIVING ROOM — NIGHT

Bethany paced back and forth, replaying the evening in her mind.

She remembered the way Larry had dismissed her feelings. She remembered how quickly he had put on his jacket after she asked him to work on their relationship.

And she remembered the name he had mentioned without hesitation.

Lynette.

Bethany picked up her phone, stared at Larry’s contact, and put it down again.

She didn’t want to beg him for attention.

But she also refused to accept that her feelings meant so little to the man she was trying to build a future with.

When Larry finally returned, Bethany was waiting in the living room.

He closed the door and immediately noticed her expression.

LARRY
You’re still awake?
BETHANY
Seriously, Larry? That’s what you have to say to me?
LARRY
What now?

Her eyes widened at his tone.

BETHANY
What now? You left this house after I poured my heart out to you, and you come back asking me what now?

Larry removed his jacket.

LARRY
Bethany, I’m not doing this tonight.
BETHANY
Well, I’m doing it! Because apparently, the only time we can talk about this relationship is when you decide you’re ready, and the moment I express how I feel, you shut me down.

Larry dropped his jacket over the back of a chair.

LARRY
I never told you that you couldn’t express yourself.
BETHANY
You don’t have to say it! Your actions say it for you.

She stepped closer, her voice shaking with frustration.

BETHANY
I told you I wanted to bring the romance back. I told you I wanted to spend more time with you. I told you I wanted us to find our way back to each other. And what did you do?

Larry remained silent.

BETHANY
You walked away from me and went to Lynette!
LARRY
I already explained that I had things to discuss with her.
BETHANY
And what about the things you need to discuss with me? What about the problems in our relationship? What about the woman standing in front of you, asking you to give her a chance?

Larry rubbed his forehead.

LARRY
You keep acting like everything I do has something to do with Lynette.
BETHANY
Then give me a reason not to think that!

Her words hung between them.

For the first time since Larry had walked through the door, he looked directly at her.

But Bethany could not tell whether he was finally understanding her pain or simply becoming tired of hearing it.

SCENE 5 — BETHANY DEMANDS THE TRUTH

INT. LARRY’S HOUSE — LIVING ROOM — CONTINUOUS

Bethany wiped away a tear and straightened her shoulders.

She didn’t want to lose control of the conversation. She wanted answers.

BETHANY
Larry, I need you to tell me something.
LARRY
What?
BETHANY
Is there a reason you keep pulling away from me? Is there something about our relationship that you’re not telling me?

Larry looked uncomfortable.

LARRY
I’ve told you that things have been difficult.
BETHANY
That’s not an answer.

She moved toward the couch but remained standing.

BETHANY
I need to know whether you actually want to be with me. Because I cannot keep trying to rebuild something with someone who refuses to tell me where he stands.

Larry crossed his arms.

LARRY
I never asked you to force anything.

Bethany stared at him in disbelief.

BETHANY
Force anything? Wanting my partner to spend time with me is forcing something? Wanting affection and attention from the person I’m in a relationship with is asking too much?
LARRY
That’s not what I said.
BETHANY
Then what are you saying, Larry? Because every time I try to understand you, you change the subject. Every time I ask you to work on us, you find a reason to
