SCENE 1 — THE FINAL ARGUMENT

Larry stood in the living room, exhausted by the endless arguments between Bethany and Sharra. Bethany looked at him, hoping he would finally defend their marriage.

BETHANY

Larry, are you really choosing her over me after everything we have been through?

LARRY

I cannot keep living like this. Every day brings another argument, and I have reached my limit.

SHARRA

Bethany, Larry deserves to make his own decision. You cannot force him to stay in a marriage he no longer wants.

BETHANY

You have been waiting for this moment. You knew exactly what you were doing.

LARRY

Enough! I have made my decision. I want a divorce.

Bethany stared at him in disbelief. She had expected another argument, not the end of her marriage.

SCENE 2 — THE DIVORCE

Bethany followed Larry toward the door as he packed his belongings.

BETHANY

Did you ever really love me, or was I just someone you stayed with until Sharra came along?

LARRY

I did love you, but things have changed. I cannot pretend to be happy anymore.

BETHANY

Then we can work on our marriage. We can get help. Why must you leave?

LARRY

I’m sorry, Bethany. My decision is final.

Larry walked out with Sharra. Bethany remained behind, looking at their wedding photograph. The home that once held their dreams now felt painfully empty.

SCENE 3 — BETHANY’S HEARTBREAK

The following morning, Bethany called Larry repeatedly. Eventually, he answered.

BETHANY

Please come home. We need to talk about what has happened to us.

LARRY

There is nothing left to discuss. I will arrange the divorce papers, and we both need to move forward.

BETHANY

What about my life? What about everything we promised each other?

LARRY

I know this hurts, but I cannot change my decision.

He ended the call. Later, Bethany received the divorce papers. When she saw Larry’s signature, she finally understood that he intended to leave her for good.

SCENE 4 — LARRY AND SHARRA’S NEW LIFE

Larry settled into life with Sharra, believing he had finally escaped the constant conflict.

SHARRA

Are you sure you do not regret leaving Bethany?

LARRY

I regret the pain, but I cannot stay in a marriage that no longer works.

His phone lit up with a message from Bethany.

BETHANY — MESSAGE

I hope you’re happy, Larry. One day, you will understand what you have done to me.

Larry read the message but did not reply. Across town, Bethany waited for a response that never came.

SCENE 5 — THE NIGHT EVERYTHING CHANGES

Bethany withdrew from her friends and spent most of her time alone. Monica finally visited her and found her struggling with overwhelming emotions.

MONICA

Bethany, I have been worried about you. You cannot keep shutting everyone out.

BETHANY

He took everything I believed in and walked away as if I never mattered!

MONICA

You matter, Bethany. Larry’s decision does not determine your worth.

Bethany began pacing, crying, and tugging at her sleeves in frustration.

BETHANY

I cannot stop thinking about him. I gave him everything, and now I have nothing!

Monica stayed beside her and contacted someone who could help. Bethany needed support, care, and time to recover from the emotional crisis she was experiencing.

SCENE 6 — BETHANY CHANGES

Over the next few days, Bethany’s distress became increasingly noticeable. She shouted at people who tried to help and sometimes pulled at her clothes when her emotions overwhelmed her.

MONICA

We are not here to hurt you. We want to help you get through this.

BETHANY

Everyone tells me to move on, but nobody understands what I am going through!

MONICA

You do not have to face this alone. We will find the support you need.

Her friends remained nearby and arranged professional help. The woman who once seemed confident and full of hope was now struggling to understand her life after the divorce.

SCENE 7 — LARRY HEARS THE NEWS

One evening, Monica called Larry to tell him about Bethany’s condition.

LARRY

What happened? Is Bethany okay?

MONICA

She is struggling badly. She needs support, and everyone around her is worried.

LARRY

I never wanted her to suffer like this.

MONICA

You do not have to return to the marriage, but you should understand how serious things have become.

After the call, Larry sat quietly. For the first time, he wondered whether he had underestimated the pain his departure had caused.

SCENE 8 — LARRY RETURNS

A few days later, Larry arrived at Bethany’s house. Monica opened the door and warned him to be careful with his words.

LARRY

I only want to see how she is doing.

Inside, Bethany turned and saw him standing near the doorway.

BETHANY

Larry? You came back. Does this mean you are coming home?

LARRY

I care about you, Bethany, but I do not want to lie to you. I am still moving forward with the divorce.

BETHANY

Then why did you come back if you knew you were going to hurt me again?

LARRY

I wanted to make sure you were getting help. I never wanted your pain to mean nothing.

Bethany began to cry. Larry left quietly, while Monica stayed beside her. Bethany’s future remained uncertain, but she needed to begin rebuilding her life independently of Larry’s choices.

FINAL SCENE — SHARRA’S SECRET

Late that night, Larry returned to Sharra’s house and found her sitting on the sofa with a sealed envelope.

LARRY

Why is my name written on that envelope?

SHARRA

It is something I need to take care of.

LARRY

Sharra, what are you hiding from me?

Sharra held the envelope tightly. Her expression suddenly changed, and Larry realized that she was frightened.

SHARRA

Bethany was not the only person who kept a secret during your marriage.

Larry stared at her in shock. Before he could open the envelope, his phone began ringing.

The caller ID read BETHANY.

LARRY

What did you do, Sharra?
