SCENE 1 — YAYA’S DREAM HOUSE
EXT. YAYA’S NEW HOUSE — LATE AFTERNOON
The sunlight falls beautifully across the front of a modern, elegant house. Flowers decorate the entrance, and a large ribbon hangs beside the front door.
Yaya stands outside, staring at the house in disbelief. Her eyes shine with happiness as she turns toward Van.
YAYA
Van, please tell me this is real. Are you seriously giving me this entire house?
VAN
Walk inside and see it for yourself. Every room, every corner, everything is yours to enjoy.
Yaya covers her mouth with one hand. She struggles to find the right words.
YAYA
I honestly don’t know what to say. I never expected you to do something this big for me.
VAN
You don’t have to say anything. I wanted to see you happy, and I wanted you to have something special.
Yaya steps forward and hugs him tightly.
YAYA
You have made me feel so special today. I will never forget this.
VAN
Then promise me one thing. Enjoy this moment, and don’t let anybody take your happiness away.
YAYA
Why would anybody try to take this happiness away?
VAN
I’m just saying. Not everybody will understand what we’re celebrating today.
Yaya raises an eyebrow, but Van opens the front door before she can ask another question.
Inside, the house is spacious and beautifully furnished. Yaya explores the living room, kitchen, and upstairs bedrooms. Every discovery makes her more excited.
YAYA
We have to celebrate this. I want everyone to see the house.
VAN
Everyone?
YAYA
Yes! Anthony and D’Nisha, too. They are part of our circle. I want them here with us.
Van’s smile briefly fades. He looks away, thinking about something he doesn’t want to explain.
VAN
If that’s what you want, invite them.
Yaya notices his hesitation but decides not to question him. She takes out her phone and begins making calls.
Neither realizes that this invitation will turn a beautiful afternoon into a night full of suspicion and unanswered questions.
SCENE 2 — THE CELEBRATION BEGINS
INT. YAYA’S NEW HOUSE — EVENING
The house is filled with music, food, and decorations. Drinks are arranged on the table, and soft lights illuminate the walls.
Yaya moves around excitedly. Van stands near the entrance, greeting guests before checking his phone.
A car pulls up outside. Anthony arrives with D’Nisha, whose engagement ring catches the light as she adjusts her hand.
D’NISHA
Look at you! You sounded so excited on the phone. Now I understand why.
YAYA
Girl, you have no idea. Come inside. I have so much to show you.
Anthony shakes Van’s hand.
ANTHONY
Congratulations, man. This is a serious gift.
VAN
Thank you. I wanted to do something meaningful.
ANTHONY
You definitely made a statement today.
VAN
Sometimes you have to do more than talk about the future.
Anthony’s smile becomes smaller.
ANTHONY
What is that supposed to mean?
VAN
Nothing personal. Just enjoy the party.
Van walks away before Anthony can respond.
Across the room, D’Nisha stops in front of a large window and turns toward Yaya.
D’NISHA
So this is really your house now?
YAYA
Yes! Can you believe it? Van surprised me with the whole thing.
D’NISHA
The whole house?
YAYA
The whole house!
D’Nisha’s smile remains, but something changes in her eyes. She looks down at her engagement ring and remembers the promises she and Anthony made about building a future together.
She had never asked him for a house. She had never demanded expensive gifts. But standing in Yaya’s new living room, she suddenly begins comparing their relationships.

SCENE 3 — THE QUESTION THAT CHANGES EVERYTHING
INT. LIVING ROOM — MOMENTS LATER
Everyone gathers around the dining table. Yaya raises a glass to thank Van for his generosity.
YAYA
I want to thank everyone for coming. This house means so much to me, and I’m happy I can share this moment with people who matter to me.
Everyone applauds. Van smiles, while Anthony nods politely. D’Nisha remains unusually quiet, glancing between the two men.
D’NISHA
Can I ask something?
YAYA
Of course. What’s wrong?
D’NISHA
Van, you gave Yaya a whole house. That’s a huge gift. You must really be serious about her.
VAN
I wouldn’t have done it if I wasn’t serious.
D’Nisha slowly turns toward Anthony.
D’NISHA
Anthony, we are engaged. You gave me this beautiful ring, and I love it. But now I have to ask you something.
ANTHONY
What is it?
D’NISHA
Van gave Yaya a whole house, so when are you going to give me one?
SILENCE FALLS OVER THE TABLE.
Yaya’s eyes widen. Van stops smiling. Anthony stares at D’Nisha in disbelief.
ANTHONY
Are you serious right now?
D’NISHA
Why wouldn’t I be serious? I’m asking you a simple question.
ANTHONY
At somebody else’s housewarming celebration?
D’NISHA
It’s not just about the house. It’s about what it represents. Van is showing Yaya that he is thinking about her future. What are you showing me?
ANTHONY
I gave you a ring because I wanted to marry you. I thought that meant something.
D’NISHA
It does mean something. But marriage is about building a life together. I need to know what that life is going to look like.
ANTHONY
And you think buying you a house is the answer?
D’NISHA
I think you should be able to tell me what your plans are.
Yaya attempts to calm the situation.
YAYA
D’Nisha, maybe this isn’t the right time to have this conversation.
D’NISHA
Why not? Everybody is here. We are celebrating a future, aren’t we?
VAN
She asked you a question, man. You don’t have to get angry. Just tell her what your plans are.
ANTHONY
Stay out of my relationship.
VAN
Then handle your relationship.
The room becomes painfully quiet. Anthony abruptly stands.
ANTHONY
D’Nisha, come with me. We need to talk privately.
D’NISHA
Fine. But I expect an honest answer this time.
She follows him into the hallway, unaware that his next words will change the way she sees their engagement.
