They arrived carrying chocolates, gifts, and a marriage proposal.

SCENE 1 — BROOKE’S SECRET
Brooke sits quietly, overwhelmed by everything that has happened.
BROOKE
I don’t know what I’m supposed to do anymore.
BROOKE
Larry found my birth-control paperwork.
CAMERON
What?
BROOKE
He found it, and now he’s making a huge issue out of everything.
Brooke takes a breath, knowing the next part will be even harder to say.
BROOKE
I talked to Issa.
CAMERON
What did he say?
BROOKE
He told me he would never be the father of this child.
Cameron stares at her. Then his expression changes.
CAMERON
Then listen to me.
CAMERON
If you want me to, I’ll bring my parents here.
BROOKE
Why?
CAMERON
We’ll ask your family for your hand.
BROOKE
You mean… marriage?
CAMERON
Yes.
BROOKE
Okay. Come.
SCENE 2 — THE DECISION
Cameron sits down with his parents and tells them everything.
CAMERON
I want to marry Brooke.
His parents exchange a serious look.
CAMERON’S MOTHER
Are you sure this is what you want?
CAMERON
Yes.
CAMERON’S FATHER
And you’re ready to take responsibility for her and the baby?
CAMERON
I’m ready.
His father studies him for a long moment.
CAMERON’S FATHER
Then we’ll go with you.
SCENE 3 — THE ARRIVAL
The next day, a car pulls up outside Bethany and Larry’s house.
Cameron steps out first. His parents follow, carrying chocolates,
gifts, and carefully wrapped packages.
Larry opens the door and immediately freezes.
LARRY
What is all this?
CAMERON’S FATHER
We came to talk to you.
Everyone enters the house. The atmosphere feels strangely formal.
LARRY
Seriously, why did you bring all of this?
Cameron’s father looks at his son, then turns toward Larry.
CAMERON’S FATHER
We came here with a proposal.
LARRY
A proposal?
CAMERON’S FATHER
We came to ask for your daughter’s hand in marriage for our son.
Bethany freezes. Larry stares at Cameron.
SCENE 4 — THE TRUTH
CAMERON’S FATHER
The baby Brooke is carrying is our son’s.
Silence fills the room.
LARRY
What did you just say?
CAMERON’S FATHER
The baby is Cameron’s.
He explains that Brooke had been staying at their house after leaving home.
CAMERON’S FATHER
Cameron and Brooke were there together. They were sharing the same room.
Larry’s expression turns cold.
LARRY
You knew they were in the same room?
CAMERON’S FATHER
Yes, but—
LARRY
Then why did you let them stay together?
SCENE 5 — THE ACCUSATION
BETHANY
You knew what was happening!
CAMERON’S MOTHER
We never expected this.
BETHANY
You knew they were together!
LARRY
You let them stay together, and now you’re walking into our house
acting like everything has already been decided?
CAMERON
Dad, that’s not what they’re saying.
LARRY
Then what are they saying?
CAMERON
I’m saying I want to take responsibility.
LARRY
Where was that responsibility before?
Brooke’s eyes fill with tears.
CAMERON
Don’t talk to her like that.
SCENE 6 — EVERYTHING EXPLODES
BETHANY
You should have thought about fairness before letting this happen.
CAMERON’S FATHER
We came here respectfully.
LARRY
Then stop defending what you allowed to happen!
Voices rise. Nobody is willing to back down.
CAMERON
Stop!
A chair scrapes loudly across the floor.
The argument suddenly turns physical.
Chocolates and gifts fall from the table and scatter across the floor.
