KAI DISCOVERS HIS MOTHER’S SECRET
SCENE 1 – THE RETURN FROM SCHOOL
The afternoon sun was slowly disappearing behind the beautiful houses in the neighborhood. Kai walked home from school wearing his red and white jacket. His backpack hung from one shoulder, and his face showed how tired he was after a long day.
He reached his family’s front door and immediately pressed the doorbell. He expected his mother, D’Nisha, to open the door as she usually did. However, nobody appeared.
Kai waited for several seconds before ringing the bell again. He looked through the front window, but he couldn’t see anyone.
KAI“Mom! I’m home! Can you please open the door?”
Silence.
He pressed the doorbell repeatedly. His expression slowly changed from confusion to frustration. He checked his phone and tried calling his mother, but she didn’t answer.
KAI“That’s strange. She knows I’m coming home. Where could she be?”
He looked around the property and noticed that one of the side windows was slightly open. He hesitated, then decided to investigate rather than continue waiting outside.
SCENE 2 – THE OPEN WINDOW
Kai carefully walked toward the side of the house. He looked through the window and noticed that everything inside appeared normal. The curtains were slightly moving, and the house was unusually quiet.
He gently pushed the window open and climbed inside. After adjusting his backpack, he stood still and listened.
Nothing.
He slowly walked through the living room. His mother’s handbag was on the nearby table. Her shoes were also beside the sofa.
Kai immediately realized that she was probably somewhere inside the house.
KAI“Mom? Are you upstairs?”
He received no answer. He started walking toward the hallway, noticing that the bedroom door was almost completely closed.
Suddenly, he heard a faint voice coming from inside.
Kai stopped. His eyebrows tightened as he tried to recognize the other person’s voice. It sounded like someone he knew.
KAI“Wait… Is somebody in there?”
He slowly approached the bedroom, unaware that the next few seconds would completely change his understanding of his family.
SCENE 3 – THE SHOCKING DISCOVERY
Inside the bedroom, D’Nisha was sitting close to Anthony. They were having a private conversation and hadn’t noticed that Kai had entered the house.
Anthony was wearing his red Nike shirt. D’Nisha was dressed in her black outfit and cap. Both looked surprised when the bedroom door suddenly moved.
Kai pushed the door open.
For a moment, nobody spoke.
His eyes moved from Anthony to his mother. He couldn’t understand why Anthony was there or why they were together in a private bedroom.
KAI“Mom? What are you doing?”
D’Nisha immediately stood up. Her expression changed when she recognized her son standing at the doorway.
D’NISHA“Kai! What are you doing home? How did you get inside?”
KAI“I’ve been ringing the doorbell! Nobody opened the door. Why is Anthony here?”
Anthony slowly stood up, trying to understand how to handle the unexpected situation.
ANTHONY“Kai, listen. This isn’t what you think.”
Kai looked at him with disappointment and anger. He had never expected to find Anthony inside his mother’s bedroom.
SCENE 4 – THE ACCUSATION
Kai stepped farther into the room. His hands were shaking, and his eyes were fixed on his mother.
KAI“Mom, what are you doing with him? Are you cheating on my dad?”
D’Nisha looked shocked. She opened her mouth to respond, but Kai continued speaking before she could explain anything.
KAI“Do you even understand what this means? Dad trusts you! How could you do something like this to him?”
D’Nisha moved toward her son, hoping to calm him down.
D’NISHA“Kai, please. Don’t jump to conclusions. Let me explain everything.”
KAI“Explain what? I can see what’s happening with my own eyes!”
Anthony tried to interrupt the argument.
ANTHONY“You need to calm down. There is something you don’t know about this situation.”
Kai turned toward Anthony with an angry expression.
KAI“Stay out of this! You’re the reason my family is falling apart!”
D’Nisha’s eyes filled with tears. She knew that the situation had become much worse than she had imagined.
SCENE 5 – A MOTHER’S DESPERATE PLEA
D’Nisha stepped between Kai and Anthony. She didn’t want the argument to become even more intense.
D’NISHA“Kai, sweetheart, please listen to me. You are misunderstanding everything. I never wanted you to find out this way.”
Kai looked at her, feeling betrayed. He had always believed that his mother would never hide something so important from their family.
KAI“Then tell me the truth! Why is Anthony here? Why didn’t you answer the door? Why were you hiding in this room?”
D’Nisha wiped her eyes. She glanced briefly at Anthony, who was standing silently near the bed.
D’NISHA“There are things happening in this family that you don’t understand yet.”
KAI“I’m old enough to understand when someone is hurting my father!”
Anthony lowered his head. He appeared uncomfortable with the accusations, but he still didn’t reveal why he had been visiting D’Nisha.
ANTHONY“Kai, your father deserves to hear the truth. But you need to let us explain first.”
Kai shook his head. He no longer trusted either of them.
SCENE 6 – KAI MAKES HIS DECISION
Kai slowly stepped backward toward the bedroom door. His face showed a mixture of anger, sadness, and disappointment.
D’Nisha immediately realized that he was preparing to leave.
D’NISHA“Kai, wait! Please don’t walk away. We need to talk about this.”
KAI“No, Mom. I’m done listening. Dad needs to know what’s happening in this house.”
Anthony moved forward, hoping to stop Kai from leaving before the situation became more complicated.
ANTHONY“Just give us five minutes. That’s all I’m asking.”
KAI“Five minutes? You should have thought about that before getting involved with my mother!”
D’Nisha reached out her hand, but Kai quickly moved away.
He turned toward the hallway and started running. His backpack bounced against his shoulders as he rushed toward the front of the house.
KAI“I’m telling my dad everything! He deserves to know the truth!”
His words echoed through the house.
SCENE 7 – THE SECRET PHONE CALL
D’Nisha stood frozen in the bedroom. She watched the hallway, realizing that her son was about to reveal everything to his father.
Anthony looked at her with concern.
ANTHONY“We need to do something before he calls his father.”
D’NISHA“I know! But I can’t force him to stay. He thinks the worst of me.”
Anthony reached for his phone and checked the screen. There was a missed call from an unknown number.
His expression suddenly changed.
D’NISHA“What’s wrong? Who called you?”
ANTHONY“Nobody important. We need to focus on Kai.”
But D’Nisha noticed that Anthony was hiding something. His nervous expression made her wonder whether there was another secret she didn’t know about.
Meanwhile, Kai reached the front entrance. He pulled out his phone and searched for his father’s contact.
SCENE 8 – THE CALL THAT CHANGES EVERYTHING
Kai stood outside the house, breathing heavily. His eyes were filled with tears, but he tried to remain strong.
He pressed the call button.
The phone rang once. Twice. Three times.
FATHER“Hey, son! What’s going on? Why are you calling me?”
Kai struggled to speak. Hearing his father’s familiar voice made the situation even more emotional.
KAI“Dad, you need to come home. Something is happening here.”
FATHER“What happened? Is your mother okay? Are you okay?”
KAI“Dad… I saw Mom with Anthony in the bedroom.”
There was complete silence on the other end of the call.
FATHER“What did you just say?”
KAI“I came home from school, and nobody opened the door. I went inside, and I found them together. Dad, I’m telling you the truth.”
The father’s breathing became heavier. He didn’t respond immediately.
FATHER“Don’t go anywhere. I’m coming home right now.”
The call ended. Kai stared at his phone, knowing that everything was about to change.
SCENE 9 – THE UNEXPECTED ARRIVAL
Inside the house, D’Nisha was pacing nervously. Anthony stood near the window, looking outside every few seconds.
D’NISHA“Did Kai call his father? What if he is already on his way?”
ANTHONY“We need to tell him the truth before he hears only Kai’s version.”
Suddenly, a car pulled into the driveway.
D’Nisha looked toward the window. Her face turned pale.
D’NISHA“Oh my God… He’s here.”
Footsteps approached the front entrance. A moment later, the door opened.
Kai’s father entered the house. His expression was serious, and his eyes immediately searched for his son.
FATHER“Kai! Where are you?”
Kai stepped forward from the living room.
KAI“Dad, I’m here. I told you everything.”
The father looked at his son, then turned toward the hallway. He noticed D’Nisha standing near the bedroom.
FATHER“D’Nisha, we need to talk. Right now.”
Anthony slowly appeared behind her.
The father’s eyes widened.
SCENE 10 – THE FINAL REVELATION
The entire house became silent. Nobody moved. The father looked directly at Anthony, then at D’Nisha.
FATHER“I want an explanation. Why is Anthony in my house? And why is my son crying?”
D’Nisha tried to speak, but her words seemed to disappear. Anthony stepped forward, looking as though he had finally decided to reveal something important.
ANTHONY“Before you make any decisions, there’s something you need to know about your family.”
Kai looked confused. He had expected an argument, perhaps even a confrontation. But Anthony’s words suggested that something much bigger was happening.
FATHER“What are you talking about? Just tell me the truth!”
Anthony glanced at D’Nisha. She immediately shook her head, silently begging him not to continue.
Kai noticed their exchange.
KAI“Mom? What else are you hiding from Dad?”
D’Nisha started crying.
D’NISHA“Kai, please. You weren’t supposed to find out like this.”
Suddenly, Anthony’s phone started ringing again. He looked at the screen, and his expression changed completely.
The father noticed his reaction.
FATHER“Answer that phone. Who keeps calling you?”
Anthony didn’t move.
The phone continued ringing.
Finally, Anthony answered. A voice came through the speaker, loud enough for everyone in the room to hear.
UNKNOWN CALLER“Anthony, did you tell them the truth about what happened all those years ago?”
Everyone froze.
Kai slowly turned toward his father. D’Nisha covered her mouth with her hand. Anthony closed his eyes as if he had been waiting for this moment for a very long time.
FATHER“What truth? Anthony, what is this person talking about?”
Anthony looked directly at him.
ANTHONY“I think it’s time you finally learned who has been lying to you.”
Before he could say another word, the front door suddenly opened again.
A mysterious person stepped inside, holding an old photograph.
Kai stared at the photograph. His expression changed as he recognized the people in it.
But the most shocking detail was the date written on the back.
It was from a time before Kai was even born.
His father slowly reached for the photograph. D’Nisha began crying uncontrollably.
And just when everyone thought the truth was finally coming out, the mysterious visitor looked at Kai and said something that left the entire family speechless.
