Iman and Delicia’s Heartbreaking Loss: They Blame Shayla for Their Baby’s Death

Highlights

Iman and Delicia had spent months dreaming about the day they would finally hold their newborn baby in their arms. They imagined the first cry, the first photograph, and the moment they would introduce their little one to the world. They believed their baby would bring a new beginning filled with happiness and love. But on delivery day, their dreams suddenly turned into a heartbreaking nightmare.
Delicia lay in the hospital bed, exhausted but excited, holding Iman’s hand tightly. Iman stood beside her, trying to hide his nervousness behind a reassuring smile. He gently brushed the hair away from her forehead and kissed her hand.
IMAN: “Baby, we’re almost there. In just a little while, we’re going to meet our little angel. I can’t wait to see our baby’s face.”
DELICIA: “I’ve been waiting for this moment for so long, Iman. I just want everything to be okay. I want to hold our baby and know that all our struggles were worth it.”
IMAN: “Everything is going to be okay. We’re going to get through this together. You’re not alone, Delicia. I’m right here with you.”
For a moment, Delicia felt reassured. She looked into Iman’s eyes and imagined their life as parents. She pictured their baby sleeping peacefully in a small crib, wearing the tiny clothes they had carefully chosen. She imagined Iman carrying their child around the house and proudly telling everyone that he was finally a father.
Neither of them could have imagined what was about to happen. As the delivery progressed, the atmosphere in the room began to change. The medical team became increasingly concerned and worked urgently to help the newborn. Iman noticed the doctors’ serious expressions and realized that something was wrong.
IMAN: “Doctor, what’s happening? Is my baby okay? Why is everybody so quiet?”
One of the doctors approached him with a serious expression. The words that followed shattered the couple’s world. Despite the medical team’s efforts, their newborn had died during childbirth.
IMAN: “No. No, that can’t be right. You have to do something. Please, that’s my baby. You can’t tell me my baby is gone.”
The doctor gently explained that every possible effort had been made, but there was nothing more they could do. Iman covered his mouth with one hand, struggling to control the sobs rising from his chest. His dream of becoming a father had turned into a devastating loss.
DELICIA: “Iman, why are you looking at me like that? What happened? Where’s our baby? Why isn’t anybody bringing our baby to me?”
IMAN: “Baby, I’m so sorry. I’m so, so sorry.”
DELICIA: “Sorry for what? Iman, please tell me what’s going on. You’re scaring me.”
IMAN: “Our baby didn’t make it, Delicia. The doctors tried everything they could, but our baby is gone.”
For several seconds, Delicia remained completely still. It was as if her mind refused to accept the meaning of his words. She looked at Iman, searching his face for some indication that he was mistaken.
DELICIA: “No! You’re lying to me! That’s not possible! I was just waiting to meet my baby. I was supposed to bring our child home!”
Her voice broke as tears streamed down her face. She began crying uncontrollably, reaching toward Iman as though she needed him to hold her together.
DELICIA: “Why would this happen to us? What did we do to deserve this? I wanted to be a mother. I wanted to see my baby grow up. I wanted to hear that little voice calling me Mommy!”
IMAN: “I know, baby. I know how much you wanted this. I wanted it too. I don’t understand why this happened, but I’m here. I’m not going anywhere.”
Iman wrapped his arms around her carefully, crying alongside her. He had no explanation and no comforting words powerful enough to take away the pain. All he could do was hold his wife as their hopes for the future collapsed around them.
DELICIA: “We had so many plans, Iman. We bought things for our baby. We talked about the future every single day. How am I supposed to go home and look at those little clothes? How am I supposed to live with this pain?”
IMAN: “I don’t know how we’re going to get through it yet. But we’ll take it one day at a time. We have to hold on to each other.”
The hours that followed felt endless. The hospital room, which had once been filled with anticipation, now seemed unbearably quiet. Every reminder of the baby they had lost made their grief even more painful.
As Delicia sat crying, another emotion began to emerge beneath her sadness: anger. Her thoughts drifted toward Shayla, whose name had been connected to tension and conflict in their lives. Delicia remembered the arguments, the hurtful words, and everything she believed Shayla had done to upset them.
DELICIA: “Iman, do you remember everything Shayla has put us through? Do you remember how she has been acting toward us? Ever since all that drama started, we haven’t had any peace.”
IMAN: “Delicia, I know we’ve had problems with Shayla, but what does that have to do with what happened today?”
Delicia shook her head, struggling to speak through her tears. She desperately searched for a reason behind a tragedy she could not understand.
DELICIA: “I can’t explain it, Iman, but something doesn’t feel right. I feel like Shayla’s evil eye has fallen on us. Maybe she was jealous of our happiness. Maybe she said something terrible about us when we weren’t around.”
IMAN: “Baby, please don’t think like that right now. I know you’re hurting, and I know your heart is broken. But we don’t know that Shayla had anything to do with this.”
Delicia pulled away slightly, looking at him with disbelief. Her grief was turning into suspicion, and she was convinced that the problems in her life could not be a coincidence.
DELICIA: “How can you say that? You know the kind of problems she has caused. What if she really did wish something bad on us? What if she gave us a curse because she couldn’t stand seeing us happy?”
DELICIA: “I believe Shayla has put a curse on us, Iman! I believe she gave us a baddua, and now we’ve lost the one thing we wanted more than anything!”
Iman felt his own grief rising again. He understood that Delicia was desperately searching for a reason behind a tragedy that seemed impossible to accept. But he also knew that blaming someone without evidence would create another wound in their already shattered lives.
IMAN: “Delicia, listen to me. I’m not defending Shayla, and I’m not forgetting anything that happened between you two. But we cannot say she caused our baby’s death when we have no proof. Sometimes terrible things happen, even when nobody has done anything wrong.”
DELICIA: “Then why us? Why did this have to happen to our baby? Why couldn’t we have just one happy moment without something terrible taking it away?”
IMAN: “I ask myself the same question. I wish I could change everything. I wish I could take your pain away. But blaming Shayla won’t bring our baby back, and I don’t want us to lose ourselves in anger while we’re already suffering so much.”
Delicia shook her head and began sobbing again. A part of her wanted to believe Iman, but another part desperately needed someone to blame. The thought that Shayla might have wished them harm had become something she could hold on to when everything else felt beyond her control.
DELICIA: “I just can’t look at her the same way again. If she really did something to us, I will never forgive her.”
IMAN: “I understand that you’re angry. You don’t have to forgive anybody today. You don’t even have to be strong right now. Just let yourself grieve. We’ll ask the doctors whatever questions we need to ask, and we’ll find support to help us understand what happened. But please, don’t let this pain convince you of something we don’t know to be true.”
Delicia rested her head against his chest, her tears soaking his shirt. Iman continued holding her, even as he struggled to contain his own heartbreak. The silence between them was filled with pain, unanswered questions, and memories of a future they would never experience as they had imagined it.
DELICIA: “Iman, how are we supposed to go home without our baby?”
IMAN: “I don’t know, sweetheart. But we’ll go home together. We’ll remember our baby together. And no matter how difficult tomorrow feels, you won’t have to face it alone.”
For the first time since the tragedy, Delicia stopped arguing. She simply cried, allowing herself to feel the full weight of her loss. Yet the question of Shayla remained in the back of her mind. Would Delicia eventually realize that her suspicions came from grief, or would she become convinced that Shayla was responsible and confront her with accusations that could tear their relationships apart?
As Iman held his devastated wife, both of them faced an uncertain future. Their baby’s death had changed their lives forever, and their grief threatened to turn old conflicts into something even more painful.
Iman and Delicia had lost the future they had imagined, and neither of them knew how to begin healing from a heartbreak this deep.
