BETHANY EXPOSES JADE
A SHOCKING CONFRONTATION
THE HOOK — ONE INSULT CHANGED EVERYTHING

Jade walked into the room expecting money, attention, and another opportunity to get what she wanted. Instead, she walked straight into a confrontation that would destroy her place in the group.

Bethany had watched her behavior for long enough. The way Jade dressed, carried herself, and spoke to Purnell had become more than Bethany could tolerate.

But Jade wasn’t the type of woman who would accept humiliation quietly. When Bethany finally decided to throw her out, nobody was prepared for what would happen next.

SCENE 1 — THE LIVING ROOM

Afternoon sunlight poured through the windows. Purnell sat on the couch, talking with Larry, unaware that their conversation was about to be interrupted.

LARRY
“Purnell, you have to be careful about the people you allow into your life. Not everybody who smiles at you wants to see you succeed.”
PURNELL
“I understand, but you can’t judge everybody before giving them a chance. Some people just need somebody to believe in them.”
LARRY
“There’s a difference between helping somebody and allowing them to take advantage of you.”

Suddenly, Jade appeared at the entrance. She walked into the room confidently, barely acknowledging Larry.

JADE
“Hey, everybody! What are we talking about? I hope I’m not missing anything interesting.”
PURNELL
“Nothing serious. We were just having a conversation.”
JADE
“I actually have something I need to discuss with you, Purnell.”

Bethany watched Jade approach Purnell. Her expression changed.

BETHANY
“You just walked into the room, and the first thing you did was start asking Purnell for his attention?”
JADE
“Excuse me? What exactly is that supposed to mean?”
BETHANY
“You haven’t even greeted everybody properly, and you’re already trying to get something out of Purnell.”
JADE
“I didn’t come here to argue with you. I came to talk to Purnell.”
BETHANY
“And that’s exactly the problem.”

SCENE 2 — BETHANY SPEAKS HER MIND

Bethany walked toward the center of the room. She had held her feelings inside for too long.

BETHANY
“Jade, I’m tired of pretending that everything you do is acceptable.”
JADE
“Nobody asked you to approve of my life.”
BETHANY
“You walk around here doing whatever you want, talking to one man today and another tomorrow, and then you expect everybody to treat you like you’ve done nothing wrong.”
JADE
“You don’t know anything about my personal life. Don’t act like you know me better than I know myself.”
BETHANY
“Every time you come around, there’s always something you need. When are you going to stop treating people like they’re only valuable when they can give you something?”
JADE
“If Purnell wants to help me, that’s between him and me.”
BETHANY
“When your behavior affects everybody around you, it becomes everybody’s business.”
JADE
“So now you’re going to tell me what I can wear and how I should live?”
BETHANY
“I’m telling you that you cannot keep acting like this and expect everybody to accept it.”

SCENE 3 — THE INSULT THAT CROSSED THE LINE

The tension grew heavier. Larry remained silent while Purnell watched the two women exchange accusations.

BETHANY
“I don’t think you’re a good woman, Jade. One day you’re with one man, and the next day you’re chasing somebody else. Then you start asking for money as if that’s all relationships mean to you.”
JADE
“Are you serious right now?”
BETHANY
“I’ve never been more serious. You act like all you care about is dollars. If a man has money, suddenly you want his attention.”
JADE
“You have absolutely no idea what I’ve been through.”
BETHANY
“You’re acting like a woman from the streets. You move from one man to another, and you act like you’ll never belong to anybody.”

Jade’s eyes widened. Bethany’s words had hurt her deeply, but Jade refused to remain silent.

JADE
“You can insult me all you want, but don’t think you can humiliate me in front of everybody and expect me to stand here quietly.”
BETHANY
“Then stop giving people reasons to question your behavior!”
JADE
“You don’t know anything about me!”
PURNELL
“Ladies, that’s enough. Both of you need to calm down before this gets worse.”
BETHANY
“Nobody needs to defend you. Explain why money is always part of your conversations with Purnell.”

SCENE 4 — JADE DEMANDS HER MONEY

Jade turned toward Purnell, hoping he would finally defend her.

JADE
“Purnell, I came here to talk to you, not to be attacked by Bethany. If I’m going to leave, I want my money back.”
PURNELL
“Jade, I think everybody needs time to cool down. This isn’t the right moment to discuss money.”
JADE
“I want the money that belongs to me. I don’t want any more excuses.”
PURNELL
“Jade, I don’t have the money on me right now.”

Jade stared at him in disbelief.

JADE
“You’re telling me you don’t have my money?”
PURNELL
“We can discuss this properly when everybody is calm.”
JADE
“No! I’m tired of hearing that. I don’t want to stay here anymore. Give me my money, and I’ll leave this group today.”
LARRY
“Jade, if money is involved, you need to explain exactly what happened.”
JADE
“Purnell knows what we discussed. He knows why I’m asking for the money.”
BETHANY
“I’m not starting anything. I’m finishing it.”

SCENE 5 — BETHANY MAKES HER DECISION

Bethany walked to a nearby table and picked up an envelope containing money. She returned to Jade with an angry expression.

BETHANY
“You want money? Fine. If money is the only thing you care about right now, then take it.”
JADE
“I want what belongs to me. I don’t want you throwing money at me like I’m begging.”
BETHANY
“Then take your money and leave!”

Bethany pushed the envelope toward Jade. The money struck Jade across the face as the envelope fell. Several bills scattered onto the floor. Everyone went silent.

PURNELL
“Bethany! What is wrong with you? You didn’t have to do that!”
JADE
“You just hit me with money in front of everybody!”
BETHANY
“I gave you what you wanted. Now pick it up and go.”

Jade collected the money and stood upright, embarrassed and furious.

JADE
“You think you’ve won, don’t you?”
BETHANY
“Get out of my house, Jade. You’re no longer welcome in this group.”
JADE
“You can remove me from your group, but you cannot control what I say when I walk out of that door.”

Jade turned toward the entrance, then stopped and looked back at Purnell.

JADE
“When the truth finally comes out, I don’t want anybody pretending they didn’t see this coming.”
PURNELL
“Jade, what truth are you talking about?”
JADE
“You’ll find out soon enough.”

Jade walked out and slammed the door behind her.

SCENE 6 — AFTER JADE LEAVES

For several seconds, nobody spoke. Bethany stood in the middle of the room, breathing heavily. Larry finally broke the silence.

LARRY
“You may have had reasons to be upset, but you took things too far. You could have asked her to leave without humiliating her.”
BETHANY
“So now you’re taking her side?”
LARRY
“I’m not taking anybody’s side. I’m telling you that this could create an even bigger problem.”
PURNELL
“Jade wasn’t only talking about money. She was trying to tell us that something happened between us that we need to settle.”
BETHANY
“What exactly are you saying, Purnell?”
PURNELL
“You don’t know the entire story.”
BETHANY
“Then tell me. What don’t I know?”

Purnell hesitated and glanced toward Larry.

PURNELL
“There’s something I haven’t told either of you.”
LARRY
“What is it?”
PURNELL
“The money Jade was asking for wasn’t exactly what you think it was.”

Suddenly, Purnell’s phone vibrated. An unfamiliar number appeared on the screen. He read the message, and all the color drained from his face.

LARRY
“Purnell? What’s wrong?”
BETHANY
“Let me see that phone.”

Purnell turned the screen away. Another message arrived, and his hands began to tremble.

PURNELL
“Jade didn’t come here just to ask me for money.”
BETHANY
“Then why did she come here?”
PURNELL
“Because she knows what happened before this group was ever formed.”
BETHANY
“What happened, Purnell?”
PURNELL
“If Jade tells everybody the truth, this group might never be the same again.”

Purnell read another message and stood up.

LARRY
“What does it say?”
PURNELL
“She’s not finished with us.”

Outside, Jade sat in her car with the envelope beside her. She opened a conversation and typed a message.

JADE — TEXT MESSAGE
“Bethany just kicked me out of the group. It’s time to tell them everything.”

A reply appeared on her screen.

UNKNOWN PERSON — TEXT MESSAGE
“Are you sure you’re ready to expose what Purnell did? Because once you reveal the truth, there’s no going back.”

Jade stared at the screen. For the first time since leaving the house, she looked afraid.

JADE
“They think I’m the problem. They’re about to discover who the real problem is.”

Back inside, Bethany’s phone suddenly rang. She answered.

UNKNOWN WOMAN
“Bethany, you need to listen carefully. Jade isn’t the only person who knows what Purnell has been hiding.”
BETHANY
“Who is this?”
UNKNOWN WOMAN
“Someone who can prove everything.”

The call ended. Another notification appeared on Bethany’s screen. It was a photograph. She opened it—and the moment she saw what was in the picture, her entire expression changed.

She had thrown Jade out of the group.

But now, a secret from Purnell’s past threatened to destroy everyone.
