SCENE 1 – BETHANY’S PLAN FOR A FRESH START
After returning from their cruise, Bethany hopes that she and Larry can finally rebuild their troubled relationship. She knows a vacation cannot erase their problems, but she wants to create a happier atmosphere at home.
She decides to arrange a special welcome-back surprise and contacts her friend Charlotte for help. Bethany wants decorations, a beautiful setup, and a cake that will make Larry feel appreciated.
BETHANY: “Charlotte, I need your help. I want to prepare something special for Larry when we get back home.”
CHARLOTTE: “That’s a lovely idea. Maybe this will help you two reconnect.” Bethany hopes they can stop living like strangers and feel like a couple again.
SCENE 2 – CHARLOTTE HELPS PREPARE THE SURPRISE
Charlotte arrives and helps Bethany arrange the decorations, organize a special table, and place the cake at the center of the welcome-back setup. Everything looks warm and inviting.
CHARLOTTE: “You really went all out with this. Larry is going to be surprised.”
BETHANY: “I just want him to feel appreciated. We’ve had enough difficult moments already.” Charlotte reminds her that she should not be the only one trying to save the relationship.
Bethany understands that decorations cannot fix deeper problems, but she wants to know she did everything she could. She imagines Larry smiling, thanking her, and embracing her.

BETHANY: “Welcome home! I wanted to do something special for you.”
LARRY: “What’s all this?”
BETHANY: “It’s a little welcome-back celebration. Charlotte helped me put everything together. I thought we could celebrate coming home and maybe start fresh.” But Larry’s expression begins to change, and instead of smiling, he looks irritated.
SCENE 5 – THE SURPRISE TAKES A SHOCKING TURN
Bethany notices Larry’s negative reaction and asks what is wrong. Charlotte tries to explain that Bethany put a lot of effort into making him feel welcome.
BETHANY: “I was only trying to do something nice for you. Why are you getting upset?” Larry’s anger grows as he looks at the cake.
Without warning, Larry moves toward the table and grabs the cake. Bethany and Charlotte barely have time to react before he smashes it directly into Bethany’s face.
The celebration comes to an abrupt stop. Cake and decorations are left in disorder, while Bethany stands frozen in shock. Her welcome-back surprise has become a humiliating disaster.
SCENE 6 – BETHANY IS LEFT COMPLETELY HUMILIATED
For several seconds, nobody speaks. Bethany struggles to understand why Larry has treated her this way after she spent so much time preparing something special for him.
BETHANY: “Larry! What is wrong with you? Why would you do that?”
CHARLOTTE: “Are you serious right now? She was trying to do something nice for you!” Charlotte is shocked by his behavior and cannot understand why he would destroy the moment.
BETHANY: “I arranged all of this because I wanted you to feel welcomed. Is this how you respond to someone trying to make you happy?” The ruined cake reflects the deeper hurt she is feeling.
SCENE 7 – CHARLOTTE QUESTIONS LARRY’S BEHAVIOR
Charlotte refuses to stay silent. She reminds Larry that Bethany wanted to make his return special and that he could have spoken about any problem instead of humiliating her.
CHARLOTTE: “Do you even realize what she was trying to do? She wanted to make you feel loved.”
BETHANY: “I don’t know what you want from me anymore, Larry. Every time I try to make things better, something pushes us further apart.”
Charlotte warns that a relationship cannot survive when one person keeps trying while the other keeps creating problems. Bethany begins to see how fragile their relationship has become.
SCENE 8 – JADE’S SHADOW CONTINUES TO AFFECT THEIR RELATIONSHIP
