SCENE 1 — SHAYLA ARRIVES AT BROADCAST WITH CHADWICK
The morning at Broadcast was going as usual. Employees were busy with their work, phones were ringing, and Wayne was sitting in his office reviewing some important business documents.
Suddenly, the office door opened.
Shayla walked inside with Chadwick standing beside her. She looked around before approaching Wayne’s office.
Wayne noticed them and welcomed Shayla with a smile.
WAYNE
Shayla! It’s good to see you. What brings you here today?
SHAYLA
Wayne, I actually came here because I need a favor from you. I wanted to ask if there is any job available at Broadcast.
Wayne looked at Chadwick and then back at Shayla.
WAYNE
A job? Are you looking for work, or is this about someone else?
Shayla stepped aside and introduced Chadwick.
SHAYLA
This is Chadwick. He’s looking for a job, and I was hoping you could give him an opportunity here. He’s willing to work and take responsibility.
Chadwick nodded politely.
CHADWICK
I really appreciate you listening to us, Wayne. I’m ready to work hard. I don’t have any problem with starting from the bottom.
Wayne leaned back in his chair, considering the request.
WAYNE
I understand. But you know how things work around here. I can’t make this decision alone. Anthony is my business partner, and I need to discuss it with him first.
SHAYLA
I understand. I just hope you both can give him a chance.
WAYNE
Don’t worry. I’ll talk to Anthony. Let’s see what we can arrange.
Chadwick thanked Wayne, and the two stepped out of the office.
But neither Shayla nor Chadwick knew that Anthony was about to turn this simple job request into something much bigger.
SCENE 2 — ANTHONY GETS AN IDEA
A little later, Wayne walked into Anthony’s office.
Anthony was checking some business reports when Wayne approached him.
WAYNE
Anthony, I need to discuss something with you.
ANTHONY
Sure. What’s going on?
WAYNE
Shayla came to see me this morning. She brought Chadwick with her. Apparently, he’s looking for a job, and she wants us to hire him at Broadcast.
Anthony immediately stopped what he was doing.
The moment he heard Chadwick’s name, a strange smile appeared on his face.
ANTHONY
Chadwick? He’s the one Shayla brought here looking for work?
WAYNE
Yes. He says he’s ready to work hard. Do we have any position available?
Anthony slowly leaned back in his chair. An idea was already forming in his mind.
ANTHONY
Actually, we do need an office attendant. Someone who can take care of the basic office responsibilities.
WAYNE
What kind of responsibilities?
ANTHONY
Nothing complicated. Bringing tea and coffee, cleaning the floors, picking up things, organizing the office, and handling other small duties.
WAYNE
That sounds reasonable. Do you think Chadwick can handle it?
ANTHONY
Why not? If he’s looking for a job, he shouldn’t have a problem doing honest work.
Wayne studied Anthony’s expression.
WAYNE
So you’re okay with hiring him?
ANTHONY
Absolutely. Give him the position.
But Anthony had a different reason for agreeing. He wasn’t thinking about helping Chadwick. He was thinking about making him work under his authority.
Anthony wanted Chadwick to understand that things were no longer the same. Now, Anthony would be the one giving orders, and Chadwick would have to follow them.
ANTHONY
You know what, Wayne? I think this could work out perfectly.
ANTHONY
Nothing. Just bring him in. We’ll see how good he is at handling office responsibilities.
Anthony turned back toward his computer, hiding the satisfaction on his face.
His revenge had officially begun.
SCENE 3 — CHADWICK ACCEPTS THE JOB
Wayne called Shayla and Chadwick back into his office. Shayla entered first, followed by Chadwick.
WAYNE
Well, I spoke with Anthony, and we have some good news for you.
Chadwick immediately became interested.
CHADWICK
Really? Did you find something for me?
WAYNE
Yes. We have an opening for an office attendant. You’ll be responsible for bringing tea and coffee, keeping the office clean, picking up things, and helping with basic office duties.
Shayla looked at Chadwick, waiting for his response.
CHADWICK
That’s perfectly fine with me. I’m willing to do whatever is required.
WAYNE
Are you sure? It’s not an executive position. You’ll have to follow instructions and handle cleaning duties as well.
Chadwick didn’t hesitate.
CHADWICK
Wayne, I understand. I’ve already sold my garage, and I need a fresh start. I don’t want to waste this opportunity. I’m ready to work.
SHAYLA
Thank you so much, Wayne. You have no idea how much this opportunity means to us.
WAYNE
You’re welcome. Just make sure he takes the responsibilities seriously.
CHADWICK
You won’t regret giving me this opportunity.
Wayne extended his hand, and Chadwick shook it.
WAYNE
Welcome to Broadcast, Chadwick. You can start today.
For Chadwick, it was a moment of hope. For Anthony, it was the beginning of a personal game.
SCENE 4 — ANTHONY GIVES CHADWICK HIS FIRST ORDER
Chadwick was introduced to the office staff and shown where he would keep the cleaning supplies.
He was trying to understand everything when Anthony walked out of his office. Anthony looked directly at him.
ANTHONY
Well, well, well! Look who’s working at Broadcast now.
Chadwick turned around.
CHADWICK
Hey, Anthony. How are you?
ANTHONY
I’m doing great. I hope you’re ready for your new responsibilities.
CHADWICK
Absolutely. Just let me know what needs to be done.
Anthony pointed toward the coffee machine.
ANTHONY
First, bring me a cup of coffee. And make sure it’s hot.
CHADWICK
Sure. I’ll get it right away.
Chadwick walked toward the coffee machine. Anthony watched him carefully, enjoying the situation.
A few minutes later, Chadwick returned with a cup of coffee.
Anthony took a sip and immediately made a dissatisfied face.
ANTHONY
What’s this? Did you even check how much sugar I wanted?
CHADWICK
I’m sorry. I didn’t know your preference. I can make another one.
ANTHONY
Of course you’ll make another one. That’s your job now, isn’t it?
Chadwick controlled his frustration.
CHADWICK
No problem. I’ll bring you another cup.
Anthony smiled as Chadwick walked away. He had barely started working, and Anthony was already testing his patience.
SCENE 5 — ANTHONY MAKES CHADWICK CLEAN THE FLOOR
Later that morning, Chadwick was arranging some office supplies when Anthony called him again.
ANTHONY
Chadwick! Come here for a second.
CHADWICK
Yes, Anthony? What do you need?
Anthony was holding a cup of tea.
ANTHONY
I need you to take care of something.
Before Chadwick could respond, Anthony deliberately spilled some tea onto the office floor. The liquid spread across the clean tiles.
CHADWICK
Oh! The tea spilled. Let me get something to clean it.
Anthony folded his arms.
ANTHONY
That’s exactly why you’re here. The floor needs to be cleaned. I don’t want anyone slipping.
Chadwick looked at him for a moment. He knew the spill hadn’t happened accidentally, but he decided not to create a scene.
CHADWICK
Okay. I’ll clean it.
He walked away, collected a mop and cleaning supplies, and returned. As Chadwick began cleaning the floor, Anthony stood nearby watching him.
ANTHONY
Make sure you clean every corner. I don’t want any stains left behind.
CHADWICK
I’m doing my best.
ANTHONY
You should do better. This is a professional office, not your garage.
Those words hurt Chadwick. He lowered his eyes and continued cleaning.
Anthony had intentionally brought up Chadwick’s former business to embarrass him. But Chadwick refused to give him the reaction he wanted.
SCENE 6 — SHAYLA DISCOVERS WHAT ANTHONY IS DOING
Later that afternoon, Shayla returned to Broadcast to check on Chadwick. She walked into the office and saw him carrying a box of supplies. His clothes looked slightly untidy, and he appeared exhausted.
SHAYLA
Chadwick! How’s everything going? Is the job okay?
Chadwick placed the box down and forced a smile.
CHADWICK
Everything is fine. It’s just a little busy.
Shayla noticed his expression.
SHAYLA
You don’t look fine. Did something happen?
Before Chadwick could answer, Anthony appeared from his office.
ANTHONY
Oh, Shayla! What a surprise. Are you here to check on your new employee?
Shayla looked at him.
SHAYLA
I came to see how Chadwick is doing. I hope everything is going smoothly.
ANTHONY
Of course. He’s learning a lot. We have plenty of work for him.
SHAYLA
I hope everyone is treating him respectfully.
ANTHONY
Respectfully? He’s an employee. He has responsibilities, and we’re paying him to do his job.
Chadwick remained silent. Shayla could sense the tension between them.
SHAYLA
Anthony, there’s a difference between giving someone work and deliberately making things difficult for them.
Anthony’s smile disappeared for a moment.
ANTHONY
Are you suggesting I’m doing something wrong?
SHAYLA
I’m not suggesting anything. I’m just saying that he deserves the same respect as everyone else.
Anthony stepped closer.
ANTHONY
Then he should learn how to handle his responsibilities.
Shayla looked at Chadwick, but he quietly shook his head, asking her not to argue. She decided to leave the matter for now.
However, she was beginning to suspect that Anthony’s intentions were not as innocent as they appeared.
